i just got back into wow and i have been playing on my priest. i was wondering if there are any addons that will let me know what debuffs/dots/bleeds/etc. are on each player. i like healing but i never know when to dispel and what not unless im on vent which is inconvenient since i mainly do random bgs except on weekends for arena. if anyone knows of any good addons that perform a function similar to this i would appreciate some enlightenment on the subject. thanks.
You have a few choices, each having their own strengths and weaknesses.
Any unit frame AddOn can show Auras (buffs/debuffs), and most can filter by what you can cast or dispel. Suggestions include PitBull4, Stuf Unit Frames, Shadowed Unit Frames, oUF + a layout, RDX + a theme...
Decursive, which uses Mini Unit Frames (MUFs) which light up either red (spell/curse) or blue (disease). Probably the easiest to see who needs what when.
A nameplate AddOn (TidyPlates or other). Disadvantages being it can become a visual mess just like the built in nameplates, and you might not be in line of sight of all the players in your group.
On a side note, since you play a healer, I suggest SmartRes2 and get resurrections under control. Of course, this is a self-plug, but it is still a highly useful AddOn to add to your arsenal.
You can find all or almost all AddOns on both Curse.com and WoWInterface.com.
dowp thanks dude. i will check all that stuff out. decursive sounds like my best bet but ill look into all of them.
As disc, you also want a way to track Rapture - Ingela's Rapture does the job very well. It just does that, but it does that well.
Make sure to read the comments below ingela's Rapture on curse.com. There's a guide oh how to get it to work for 5.2. Pretty much a must have if you have mana issues at all.
Decursive is fantastic, but like its been stated check stuff out for yourself and see what suits you
I've used grid since BC and continue to track what I dispel with it.
will remove all magic and disease debuffs, and although
only removes magic debuffs, it still maintains an AoE. Because
will remove both, all you have to do is know something is on the target (I only track magic and disease debuffs, completely ignoring poisons and curses) and you'll be able to remove all stacks. In current content I cannot think of any disease going out to a mass group of people, keeping you from blowing a
CD on diseases.
is simultaneously offensive and defensive, making it rarely a wasted cast in battlegrounds.
As blowtorch mentioned, tracking
as Disc is vital, and
works wonders. Granted, I use both Ingela's Rapture and a
cast bar but it's redundant. Likewise, through
, and incoming heals;
tracks most CD's.
for raids. It's very easy to configure to show certain buffs/debuffs in certain areas of each player's unit frame.
Power Auras Classic
for tracking my own cooldowns and effects. For example; I have a purple texture above my character's head appear whenever my Shadowfiend is on cooldown, with a countdown timer right underneath it.
Shadowed Unit Frames
for my own Unit frame as well for my 5-man parties as it's a lot better looking and easier to setup than Grid is. (Although Grid works better for raids)
for easy tracking of players' health and buffs (or debuffs for enemies).
