Hey, Old player coming back to WoW again and I've got some questions about the rogue class that I've seen a lot of discussion about but never really got any straight answers.
My current ' talent tree ' with thought process behind them:Subterfuge
(Lots of CC in my Opener)Nerve Strike
(Great for peeling)Elusiveness
(Good defensive)Cloak and Dagger
(Great for when Shadow Dancing for CC and avoid getting kited)
(With the buff from malev armor set Crippling is no longer needed + great effects)Shuriken Toss
(Gain energy efficient combo points when closing the gap)1.
Does my Hemo damage come from my main hand only?2.
Why should I not use a sword in my off-hand, does this have something to do with poison application?2a.
How does that effect my combat effectiveness?3.
What are the Pro's and Con's of Shadowstep compared to Cloak and Dagger?4.
Should I use Hemo just for the dot?

1. According to tool tip, yes main hand weapon damage. Hemorrhage
2. You can use a axe/mace/fist/sword, but poison procs will be drastically lower due to the lower weapon speeds.
2a. Less procs on your poisons (if you're using paralytic) is less stuns, and more time between crippling application.
3. depends on how you play... if you drop out of combat and into stealth often then c&d would be used more often. but if ShS comes off cd more often, then C&D would be better.
4. Yes and no... ST costs 20 energy per combo point, hemo 30 energy, BS 35 energy. For dpsing, BS with the hemo dot up is most dps potential (aka burn phase). If you can manage to consistently get behind your target and spam BS, go for it.
