Rouge for Casual player?
Return to board index
Been playing wow since Vanilla, started just before TBC. always had a few months break then came back. This time my break was about 2 years, so I never played Cata at all and now obv were in MOP. Ive been playing a pally recently but with all the /whining in pala forums and stuff sounds like they have a pretty raw deal atm as ret (Main purpose of playing is PVP with causal raiding) and I didn't wanna go holy for pvp I wanted dmg!. Rouges have always intrested me but tbh I never thought id have the skill to play them, ive always gone for classes with offheals in arena like Spriest/Sham/Pally so if it all went *!@# up I could usually sort myself out, now rouges used to be quite difficult to play but ive got no idea atm as everything else seems to be nerfed. are rouges easier? ill be levelling from 1-90 but will have high lvl guild as well as heirloom its so I will definatly get a good understanding of the class but how long roughly would it take casually 2-3 hours per night to get to 80? (I know top lvl is 90 but I enjoyed that questing so I don't mind that)
if there is any other advice guys for a casual lvler pondering on a rouge im all ears ^^
Thanks for taking the time to read :)
If you can't spell it, don't play it.
LOOOOOL!. im dyslexic but that was still funny.
here i thought you were talking about my rogue named Röuge for a minute...oh well...back to work
I'm far from being an PVP expert but my recent lvl 86 casual rogue PVP BG experience was that you can't kill anything. You can only harass people like a biting fly.
Rogues are terrible in PvP right now. They got a little better in 5.2 but not much - decent stuns but nowhere near the epic stun lock/burst dmg we had during BC/Wrath.
If you're set on a Rogue, go Combat for leveling and Assassination for raids, but avoid PvP like the plague.
If you just want to do damage, go with a different class - Mage, Destro lock, or Frost DK maybe. They're pulling the
top dps right now
(can't speak of their survivability in PvP since I don't play any of them personally).
Rogues are good in pvp you just have to know when to use your CDs, and when to back off and re-stealth. It will take time to get good PVP gear but once you do, you will find rogues can one shot when done right (IE watch your targets DR, and if possible open on them after their trinket has been used).
I'm new to the game (relatively new considering I have been playing for months, not years). I was playing a BM hunter and switched over to a rogue (currently at 70). I don't know how things pan out at the higher levels, but I would say we can be more effective than a biting fly. Target selection is key and knowing how and when to CC targets can make a big impact on if your team succeeds or not. Can you burst down a full health target every time... no, but if you get to the back line and put pressure on their healers and ranged dps you can take pressure off your team and allow them to push forward. I've been able to take down solo flag carriers with relative ease and your ability to CC multiple targets from stealth can certainly give your team an edge. If you just tab target the closest enemy and try to tee off on a plated warrior... yeah you're going to get flattened. I'm still learning the role and since I'm still leveling I'm learning new skills and new ways to control the situations. I have a lot of fun playing my sub rogue in PvP and to be honest, you'll get out of the game what you put into it. Have fun with it and don't worry what other players think or say. This is a game that's supposed to be fun :)
