Advice on new build?
Return to board index
I should be getting my tax return back soon, I'm looking to upgrade. This is what I have picked out, except I picked it all out on Newegg, I just use partpicker since that's easier to show you guys what I chose than trying to figure out neweggs public lists.
new list based on some advice from elsewhere:
I'm wondering a couple things, mostly whether professional Win7 is worth it (xp emulation?) and whether I need a cpu cooler that good, or if I would be ok with saving ~20 bucks and getting a hyper 212 evo.
My budget is roughly what the price came out to on partpicker, that is 1300ish. I can go a little above or obviously below, but I can't go up to like 1600 or anything. I'd say 1450 is probably the upper limit. I currently only play WoW and Skyrim really as far as intensive games, but I also want to get into streaming, and I record Let's Plays and such of games, and I'd like to be able to record commentary while I play for newer games and not experience lag. Lately I've had to stick to good ol' ZSNES :)
I already have a monitor, mouse, and keyboard that are < 1 year old.
Either get the 830 series SSD or the 840 pro. The simple 840 is rather bad.
I don't like the HAF cases because there is way too much plastic and I think they look tacky. Will also be a pain to build in because the cable management options are, let's face it, $%^&e. I prefer more "decent" cases, like the Fractal Design Arc or R4, the Corsair 650D or 500R (which are also cheaper). They have very solid constructions (the Fractal cases weigh 20lb empty!).
