DW Frost Rotation Help
Return to board index
I just switched from 2h to DW and i was wondering what the new rotation is? So far using my old 2h rotation im still getting higher dps then i did using a 2h.
There never was a "rotation"... its all priority. try the EJ Frost thread/Noxxic/google.
Many people use
as a general wow term meaning skills you are supposed to use at certain times. Hell all guides use the exact same term (Icy veins, noxxic included). Since you dont know which the op meant there is no point being picky.
As for the op.
The main difference is that Obliterate is no longer your skill to go - its Frost strike, followed by Howling blast. Only thing Obliterate is good for is dumping unholy runes on single target situation (to gain more RP for more frost strikes) and whenever you have not enough RP to frost strike and have nothing RP generating available (horn, blast etc) and you got a KM proc up which you dont want to waste (by delaying it usage so the new ones cant proc).
Or if you prefer as a priority list:
Keep your diseases up at all times (unless the target is about to die or will have a very short lifespan - use common sense. Howling blast for
and Unholy Blight if you taken it > Outbreak > Plague strike for
Use Soul Reaper hen the target is below 35% health (or will be within 5 seconds).
Use Howling Blast when you have a Rime proc.
Use Frost Strike if:
You are about to reach maximum runic power
You have a Killing Machine proc.
Use Obliterate if you have a Killing Machine proc
you have less than 20 runic power, while not having any RP generating abilities available (arcane torrent, ams up and incoming spell damage, horn etc)
Use Howling Blast
Use Frost Strike
Use Horn of Winter
There are also certain cooldowns you need to manage (combine together using common sense) but theyare exactly the same as 2h:
Army, Empower Rune weapon, Raise Dead and Pillar of Frost.
Pets (army, ghoul) scale with current AP and haste so should be combined with such procs and on use abilities.
