Leveling a Shadow Priest in PvP or PvE
Return to board index
Ok, being new to the whole Priest (shadow) thing, does it really matter what weapon i have during pvp or dungeons at low level? i mean would it serve me better to have a 2h staff or 1h weap+offhand, your thoughts greatly appreciated! :)
Many years ago the combination of MH+OH was giving you more spell power than a staff. On the other hand, staff was giving you more stats (int/spirit/stam). With the changes that have been made, now the only thing that matter is you have available. If you have a good main weapon and a good a off-hand, you will use them. If your staff is giving you more stats that the other two, you will use the staff.
Assuming you have access to heirloom items, these are the staves:
Dignified Headmaster's Charge
Grand Staff of Jordan
And main hand:
Devout Aurastone Hammer
There is one more caster main hand, but it is for healers, and one melee DPS hammer. While you are at it, get all the heirloom armour pieces, two trinkets (can be the same one twice), and whatever else there is.
The Blessed Hammer of Grace
isn't strictly "for healers". And more importantly, it has (essentially) hit on it, which may come handy in a long run. However, it is loosing some stats to the PvP crap... But it all depends on the availability in every separate case. If you have a ton of Honor to spend, you may prefer one over another.
There are also offhand heirlooms (and shields of defensive and offensive nature for those that can use them) that have been datamined from 5.2. So it becomes largely a matter of taste for leveling.
There were datamined heirlooms since inception. Not all of them came live. Rings f.e., and legs only came in in the MoP, while been around since Wrath.
