Dps gear or Intellect gear
Return to board index
Hi, I was wondering if Intellect gear is really necessary for monks, I'm reading some places on the web that monks should be using dps gear to heal rather than wearing intellect gear.
For instance I was tanking the other day at lvl 85 and the healer was a monk wearing only agility gear, the thing is that he was never oom and we never had any problems, however when I heal and I'm wearing full intellect gear and I go oom like crazy.
Really frustrating, btw I switched my healing spec to tanking so linking to my char is kinda pointless atm.
Now you've got me real curious. I'm recently returning to WoW and focusing on Brewmaster, but my wife is playing a Mistweaver.
What really confuses me about an agility wearing Mistweaver is their healing stance mechanics. It gives you hit rating from spirit and attack power from spellpower. Besides being really good since you're going to be running the Mistweaver spec anyway, it also says that it eliminates all other forms of attack power. This seems to imply it would eliminate attack power gained from agility. If it does, I can't see how this could possibly work in any real situation since you would have extremely low AP because of the removal of attack power from agility (therefor bad melee healing) and extremely low spell power due to the lack of intelligence (therefor bad ranged healing).
Stacking agility also isn't going to help you with your mana regeneration where stacking int and spirit would.
On paper it just seems like a terrible idea unless something is broken. If I'm completely mistaken about something, please let me know. I'd be curious how on earth someone could pull that off, but maybe the dungeon was just seriously overgeared. No idea.
One explanation for the mana situation could be the overuse of Surging Mist. I don't mean to imply you are not the best monk ever, I have no idea how you play so ignore this if it doesn't apply. A lot of Mistweavers love to use Surging Mist as their filler. The problem is it's like a flash heal. It OOMs them extremely fast. Soothing Mist should be the filler heal without a doubt. Improper management of mana tea and other regenerative factors can OOM a Mistweaver too, even with proper amounts of spirit.
Anywho, curious to hear feedback about this.
Stance of the Wise Serpent
Stance makes agility wortlhess since:
1) you gain AP through spell power (intellect)
2) you no longer gain AP from elsewhere (agility)
