Need helping picking a new server
Return to board index
Can someone please help me pick a new US server. I really am looking for an alliance based server where the alliance does really well in their battle group. Can anyone please help me out in picking one. I also need it to be medium to high population. Thanks so much!
might come in handy. I play on EU so I can't offer you any suggestions based on experience, though.
Do some research before you switch, and I would not rely on ONLY asking for advice from other players. Many people either think their bad server is the best, or many people will also bash a good server based on a bad personal experience.
There are several sites that offer information of realm populations. Start there, then check guild progress (if PvE is of any interest to you). Narrow it down to a few servers, then roll an alt there, and spend a few hours seeing what trade chat looks like. Talk to players from some of the better guilds, ect.
I spent about a week before choosing a new server, and so far, I have been pretty happy with my choice.
Exactly, I put quite a lot of though into choosing a server with fairly good PvE progression and the Alliance and Horde are at a ratio of 1:0.93 or something.
Don't try to look for a server with a dominant faction, otherwise it's no challenge.
I play on
realms.. so not sure how things work for
US - Realms
Most decent guilds, or players will use
"Realm forums of some kind"
to recruit for new players. Perhaps some might even read your post you have just written... But you have to put in the hardwork & check realms out for yourself. Is the best option.
Top 20 heroic guilds, thats another story. Same goes for Top ranking arena teams. They tend to keep things more private. RBG teams, always looking for new blood.
Same for any type of team, guilds etc, most tend to use:
( well this works for EU - Realms )
Realm forums / US
( Click this link )
So lets say you find a realm that offers what you would like from the game, perhaps check the realm forums, make a application / advertise yourself. See what kinda feedback you get. Same for other websites. If people take a interest then, what steps should you take?, well i wouldn't want jump-ship straight away...
Perhaps get a feel for the guild or players you will be teaming up with. Best way to do this is perhaps create a
, since you will be able to do loads more things in-game.
( reason i picked a DK )
. ....perhaps give it a week, see how it feels.. Try to make some connections with some of the players you would like to team up with, whatever that might be. Limit the risk... is the key.
You can also use
battle.net / add some friends
., connect with players that you have talked with, do some pvp etc.. see how they play. Lots of "Cross Realm RBG" goes on.
