Best Damage Meter?
Return to board index
Anyone know which damage meter is the best?
The one with the features that suit you the most? As far as there are any functional differences anyway.
Recount vs. Skada (or some other addon, I'm only familiar with these two) is mostly a choice of preference, they should have about the same major features by now. I used Recount long ago, then switched to Skada when Recount didn't get updated for some patch (I think in the 3.X era) and just never bothered to switch back, because both are good.
Skada is an excellent name for a damage meter.
@ OP: As Nulgar indicates, it depends on what you want from your damage meter. Maybe you could elaborate?
Well I'm fairly new to the game.
I just want to keep track on how much
damage I'm doing compared to others
as I level and up my specs. I feel like
I am a little clueless sometimes lol
Well, both Nulgar's suggestions will do fine. TinyDPS may not be working properly yet. Those three are the ones I know about.
I prefer Recount myself, since Skada often did "weird things" in my UI.
Couldn't be bothered sorting out what it was, so i've used Recount every since.
Pretty much gets the job done.
Recount collects EVERYTHING, whereas Skada is modular and will only collect data on what you want it to collect. If you have a decent computer, you probably won't notice the extra CPU cycles Recount will require compared to a Skada setup that uses about half its modules.
If your computer has issues with FPS problems & you have to play the game on low settings,
Forget about "Recount" as a addon. Otherwise its worth having.
When you decide to use / get addons, don't take risks. Use recommended websites. Be careful what you click on:
I find damage meters when used in the correct manner do help most raid groups.
But in the wrong hands, they cause lots of problems.
Things that shouldn't happen, but do:
Spam linked in channels & putting other players down, happens way to much. Then you get people pull crazy stunts in order to get "Top damage" doing stupid things. *sigh*
