This computer plays WoW, Unreal Tournament 2004, Avp2, and most other games just fine.
When I fire up Minecraft or anything based on the Quake III Arena engine, it slows to a crawl. By "crawl", I mean "the main menu takes 10 minutes to show up".
Extensive testing has confirmed that this is a software issue and not a hardware one. I've updated to the latest drivers for my GPU with no effect.
Any idea what's going on?
Delete system32 or have sex with your HDD. This will fix 99% of all problems.
If running on newer os those older engines sometimes have problems try compatibility mode before running run as xp.
Also sometimes with multicore processors it will not work right. It will think a single core is the whole processor and use only one core. Run task manager and if it shows only one core at 100% and rest idling during start up it could be your problem.
The fix very from game to game just google x game only utilizing 1 core from processor. And you should have your answer somewhere in first page.
