Keep checking them all.
The easiest to come by could be Ghostcrawler as he is not possible to kill.

Ok cool thanks for the tip

Try Mount Hyjal? The bird flies high and is hard to kill and the cat 1shots anyone who is wearing armor.

So you think cata spirit beasts are a better bet?

I dont know your realm but imo, if you dont have to fly around northrend like madman (its huge) its less time wasted.

Very true I'm currently waiting for my 89 hunter to get rested ill maybe post up by the 2 cats in an inn and check a few times a day, I take it less people kill it as it drops no loot

Additional question, is there any way to tell if I'm in the correct phase for the 2 Hyjal cats?
I assume I did those quests but anyone know a wag to check?

Can you see the daily questing NPC at Sanctuary of Malorne? If you do, you are in correct phase.

I can see her...she doesn't offer a daily just a reg quest is that okay?

I don't think the phase zone effects if you see the Spirits Beasts in that area. Since i once helped my Alliance friend ( i play Horde ) i couldn't see her, but we both saw the Spirit Beast.

Northrend Spirit Beasts

I tend to see them more often then the ones in Cata zones.
When i track these Spirit Beasts i tend to fly about only for a little while, then go check another location, finding Northrend Spirits Beasts i think is easy. Well if you have a 310% speed mount.
Start off with Grizzly Hills, since that is the only Spirit Beast that doesn't have more then one spawn point & doesn't move about much. Easy to spot, then head to Zul'drak, Storm Peaks, then Sholazar Basin. I tend to only spend about 10/15mins in a zone at a time. Then fly back to the others. Rinse & repeat.

Nope. Your Hyjal isnt phased properly.
You need to complete the
Guardians of Hyjal: Call of the Ancients
(which basically means finishing 70% Mount Hyjal questline) in order to phase it.

Gratz on your first Spirit Beast, that puddy is rather nice.
"Good luck with finding more of them".

Karoma is pretty easy to get in Twilight Highlands if you don't like the purple cat.

tbh mate, Drek is an excellent choice for a pvp pet, his mortal strike is always up on whatever target you/he is attacking, saving you focus and a GCD. The healing from spirit beasts is not all that, especially if you are in a bg with healers.
I tend to use drek the most, also I like the +5% crit buff he supplies more than the 3k mastery from spirit beasts.

tbh mate, he wanted a spirit beast, not a devilsaur.

man you never take a day off eh! I am so thrilled to have a stalker!
and need one for pvp
surely it is ok for me to tell him that drek is an excellent pvp pet with out inviting the wrath of narinomi?

Well, maybe you should tell him that a devilsaur is good for pvp then, rather than telling him a specific mob is good for pvp (Drek is no better than generic devilsaur 1).
Though I disagree, the mortal strike debuff from the devilsaur is on quite a long CD, so it would be better to apply it via Widow Venom, the 5% crit buff you also get from waterstriders, wolves and quilen, which are all smaller and less obvious.
Whether the 5% crit buff or the 3k mastery buff is better depends on whether you get buffed. If you get buffed the one you don't get is better (obviously), but if you don't get buffed, the mastery buff is arguably better. Both provide 5 converted points, 5% crit respectively 5 mastery. the 5 mastery translates to 10% increased damage done by your pet - including kill command. For PvE they are roughly equal, though the more gear you have (and thus the higher base crit and mastery you have) the more valuable the mastery becomes. For PvP the same is of course the case, but also you want to consider burst potentail, and for damage on demand, mastery wins, as it is always on. So for two equal rating values, here the mastery should win out over the crit buff.

I actually meant to say King Krush, but yes all devilsaurs have the same ability. I for some reason thought of King Krush as Drek when the OP referred to having him already

it is a 5.6 sec CD and lasts for 10 seconds, how is that a long CD?
the 5% crit buff you also get from waterstriders, wolves and quilen
this is part of what I like about devilsaurs, they are big, and can obscure the enemies targeting, plus i just like have a big in your face pet, that, the 5% crit AND the monstrous bite, add up to quite a nice choice for me. The monstrous bite will always be up on the target your pet is attacking, saving you many GCD's over the course of a fight, and just one less thing to worry about really, I find it makes a difference.
most places rate mastery = crit for pvp, I see that,
personally
i prefer the crit as it adds "go for the throat" dmg which does add a lot of focus to your pet meaning more dmg as well.
Whether the 5% crit buff or the 3k mastery buff is better depends on whether you get buffed. If you get buffed the one you don't get is better (obviously)
for this reason I carry a spirit beast on me at all times, and use him often, also for the addtional buffs during stampede.
