Listing your real ID?
Return to board index
Is it frowned upon or against the rules to list your real ID under any posts you make about any wow related items such as
. I'm curious because sometimes information on there isn't as easy to get as tlaking to someone. I'd like to list my real ID under all those rares that I've posted under with my real ID (Well my battletag name) so people can contact me about any questions they have with those rares.
More then likely shouldn't, since you could end up with people spamming that email address.
We do not recommend listing your Real ID on Wowhead. Perhaps, perhaps... your BattleTag (as that is more secure).
However, we do not want people to feel compelled to contact someone in-game that they've discovered from Wowhead to ask a question. We'd prefer they ask their question as a 'Reply' to your comment, and if you're devoted enough to watch those replies and answer them then that would be great.
That being said, if you're providing a thorough non-spam comment on the database and feel compelled to share your BattleTag there I can't say that I would remove it. Ultimately, doing that would be up to you.
Please note though, we would remove comments that are made simply saying "Have Questions? Contact me here!" or "I want to sell you something on my server... contact me here!" or anything else of that nature.
Hopefully that answered your question thoroughly enough! :)
Indeed it did. I had planned on putting my battle tag not my real ID sorry for the confusion. I do however have information pertaining to said items on wowhead, but I'd like to list at the bottom that if they have any further questions to feel free to contact me ingame @ -----.
I completely understand that someone listing their battletag with no information other than "have questions about this item contact me here" without any relevant information on the item in their post.
The reason I asked if this was something frowned upon is because oddly enough I've gotten some tells in-game already concerning relics. Personally I find it easier to talk to someone "face to face" rather than commenting and wait to be commented back. This method would provide faster replies and better information I believe.
Your post was very helpful and hopefully with this knowledge I can further provide help to those that seek it. Thank you. :)
I also wanted to take it one step further and provide you with the format this will be used in and hopefully it's alright. If not I will remove my BattleTag from all the similar posts that I have edited. The following post is one that has received a decent amount of up-votes:
Got this at 7:06PM server time (Character - Hagendaz --- Argent Dawn - US) on 10/10/12. I found it at the location listed in one of the pictures already up. I went to check the spawn since I'd been farming for rares for quite a while during the day, both rare mobs and items. I went to the location and it wasn't up. I minimized wow for roughly 30 seconds since I was in mid chat with one of my friends on skype and I heard something similar to a tree growing rapidly (best I can explain it, or like a weed growing, kind of a stretching sound) I thought to myself like could I really be hearing what I think I am? I tabbed back into wow and sure enough there it was. I will be using this on my pally once I hit 86. I will also provide a screenshot as soon as I can. You can see what it looks like underwater
1. So as a note from my experience, it spawned (I'm not sure if it did in between but from what I've seen) roughly 16 hours apart.
2. It spawned with audio as well similar to a stretching sound or a tree rapidly growing.
If you plan to camp this and don't want to die of boredom I'd suggest making sure you can still hear wow with it minimized or windowed to the side and watching a movie or something but make sure you can still hear wow a bit. I've been trying this method and haven't came a crossed any other rares spawning so I'm not sure if others provide a sound as well.

I have posted this same list under all the rares I've obtained as I find most of the information useful and feel others will too.
If you have any questions I will do my absolute best to answer them if I can. You can contact me if you wish @ Jesse#1170
I think it's fine... but I will warn that a lot of people here tend to down vote comments that look so similar to your other comments (they just look at it as spamming). May want to consider changing up the layout, format or wording in future comments unless the votes don't concern you.
Good luck and thank you for contributing to Wowhead!
