Request: EnchantId of Crystals of Fear (Wrathion legendary quest chain)
Return to board index
As you probably know, Mists of Pandaria will introduce the quest chain connected to Wrathion, from where you can obtain one of three legendary quality gems. Labeled as Crystal of Fear, they come in these forms:
I've been trying to test a tooltip regarding this on the PTR servers, together with
Shin'ka, Execution of Dominion
, one of the nine base items of this designation. Purpose is to see how the item looks once gemmed with these crystals of fear. For this I need the enchantId, not the itemId, of these crystals. This has proved itself to be quite difficult to find, especially as I couldn't find much about extracting this information. And to manually input several hundreds of codes does not interest me. Therefore, I'm reaching out to this board that ought to be the most skilled when it comes to such topics.
As a start, I used the by Wowhead conveniently provided script connected to the itemString function:
This is the unaltered script which if input in-game results in a basic tooltip. The nulls after 86386 represent enchantId, jewelId1 (enchantId for gems) and so forth, with the second null being the space we want to modify. You can virtually input enchantIds in jewelId slots, with the enchantment shown as white text.
As an example of enchantIds for gems, I have used the previous script with the jewelId 4647:
This Id is for the yellow gem
Perfect Smooth Sunstone
. This I randomly wrote as I had no ways of finding out, through Wowhead's item page anyway, its enchantId. The gem occupies the Sha-touched slot.
So, does anyone know how to find the enchantId of these gems,
most suitable for Shin'ka, Execution of Dominion? Any help will be most appreciated.
As I wrote before, purpose is to see how the items look once gemmed with these crystals of fear, and if there is any visual difference (as with the Dancing Steel enchantment for example). The more information uncovered, the more we might learn about these items and their use in consecutive raid tiers and patches.
I'd suggest starting out with the highest jewelId of a "normal" Mists gem you know, then let a script produce item links for higher jewelIds. Since the Sha-touched slot accepted the normal gem in the itemlink, it probably works the other way around, too, so take a weapon with 3 gem slots to show 3 jewelIds at a time.
Thank you very much, Nulgar. Did you follow your own example to find that?
Anyway, as for what this does... practically nothing. The gem icon isn't very interesting, there is no indication of it being a legendary gem and there is no visual effect. It could change of course, but Blizzard perhaps is holding back a bit as these are only the starting items of this quest chain.

Well, sure, basically it's just a new type of gem
and there is no visual effect.
This would clash with the normal enchant glow.
Also consider that this is just the first step. We might get actual gear later on in the questline.
