I am new to the site but i have been playing WoW for years now. I have a lvl 84 demonology warlock and for a while now people have been telling me that I am not doing a lot of DPS when in dungeons. I keep my dots on the mobs and i continuously hit them with other damage spells yet they still tell me this. If someone can give me some tips on how to increase my DPS so that I dont embarrass myself when in groups that would be helpful.
Also, I am not an expert on glyphs, enchants, ect and on what i should and should not wear. My toon is here:
. I dont do battlegrounds because i would die everytime. So any extra advice would be NICE!
First of all, about your gear: There are some stats you don't need, like str or agility. First priority is Intellect! Then comes Stamina. And that is all you need out of the primary stats. As secondary you'll need hit rating maxed, haste, crit and mastery.
I would advice you to maybe consider to use some other talents, like destruction. But this is a question what fits you best. But in some cases you can do a lot more dps as a destro lock. Demo is best for aoe situations.
Try to look up some web pages or forums that are discussing spell rotation. As a warlock it is all about how to time your spells and how to use them in a good sequence. At these forums you can also find glyphs and enchants.
i don't want to advertise but a few key words to start searching: Noxxic, Elitist Jerks
there is also an excellent
PvE Warlock Guide written by asakawa
right here on wowhead
Please check out the link Chiad linked.
That guide can give you the proper spec, glyphs, gems, and enchants. It will also help with reforging tips and what are hit caps. And proper rotations for your spell. If used in the correct order and in the right situation, you will see great numbers.
Demo is very solid, so stick with that if you are gonna run dungeons. If you ever want to raid, then we'll take another look at it.
You gear priority for Demo is:
You do not need the armor trinket and gear with spirit as they do nothing for you.
85 Warlock Gear Guide
/85-warlock-grindable-gear-guide Here is a good guide to gear too. It has all slots, and starts from basic gear to high end tier.
If you have any specific questions about anything, like why we use certain things, don't hesitate to ask. We all were new at one time.
Definately checkout both guides linked above. If you have any more questions, just ask hopefully we can explain it a little bit more.
the thing I'll add (and is in the guide from asakawa) you should
asting. Time-on-target is the main contributor to DPS. Gotta move? Use
. Standing still w/ dots all runing? Spam your filler, and when we say spam, spam it! don't wait for the graphic to tell you its ready again, pre-empt it, hitting the button faster really makes it go faster! (due to server lag)
Well thanks a bunch! All of the advice is wonderful. Thanks for your time and I am enjoying the hospitality. I am definitely going to post more!
Definitely update us and let us know how much your improving.
