I'm sure that when the Italian client goes live, Wowhead will make Italian version of the site.

Pretty much this.

I'm sorry to bump this but WoW in Italian is "live"... any "official" info on a version on Wowhead in Italian?

I'm sure Wowhead would like to have an Italian version of the site but considering the amount of work (not to mention expanding the localizer team with the people who'd do the work) it'd take to translate and maintain I don't see it being very likely to happen in light of the fairly low amount of Italian visitors to the site.

Oh... probably they changed their mind then...
I've read your reply just now... after I found this message on battle.net forum (and I was very happy :-) )

When an Italian version of the game goes live, Wowhead will support it, yes.
All the best,

That's an old comment from May. I'm deeply sorry that it's not the case but there are no current plans for Wowhead to support Italian WoW.

Really? WowHead supports *all* the official languages but italian? Sounds interesting...
Uh, no? Korean and Chinese are not supported on Wowhead either, and both of those have been around for a lot longer.

Which community is bigger (Italian community being larger than the German one sounds very unlikely, do you have a source for that?) is irrelevant if they don't visit Wowhead, which the site statistic linked above suggest they don't in the case of Italian users whereas the Germans are one of the five biggest user groups by country.
I'll assume that by "all the other european languages" you mean all other European languages which have designated realms for those languages in Europe - and keep in mind that Portuguese is not technically fully supported in Europe since the Portuguese translation of the game is Brazilian Portuguese for Latin America. Aggra is listed as an English realm but has "(Português)" in the name.
Curse guild web pages, do you mean Wowstead? They don't have any support for Italian as far as I've been able to determine. I also doubt both that a community-driven solution would actually work on Wowhead as apart from the entire translation issue you have to set up the site to pull the Italian data from the game and integrate it on the technical side of things which can't be done by a volunteer.
At the end of the day, Wowhead has a busy team (especially now ahead of MoP and more than likely going into MoP for some time as well) and as long as the number of Italian visitors remains low I don't see an Italian version of the site becoming a priority. Prophesising doom for Wowhead if they don't make an Italian translation happen is more than a little exaggerated as even if every single Italian user left for greener
pasta
pastures it'd be a barely noticeable dent in site statistics, as much as I'm sure they'd dislike it to happen.
There's probably also plenty of Italians who are happy to keep playing on English realms on English clients using the English version of Wowhead, if my experiences playing with French / German / Italian / Portuguese players on English realms are anything to go by.

as you can see, german and italian people share more or less the same minority.
I'm sorry, but where are you seeing that? the link shows 250k german unique visitors, and 70k italian unique visitors, that means there are only 28 italians per 100 germans according to that link.
It also shows that wowhead has roughly 6 million unique visitors, meaning that the italian segment makes up just over 1% of wowheads visitors (according to the link), losing even as high as 80% (which I doubt very much there is any data to suggest), taht would amount to losing 0.8% of the unique visitors, hardly anything noticable in the ad income.
If I'm reading the wowhead team descriptions correctly, nothing is community driven, but there is a localization team as well - the closest you get to communitydriven - and if you feel very strongly about it, I would suggest you apply for a post as a localizer;

edit: volounteering will certainly be more productive than complaining on the feedback forum that it hasn't been done yet.

Thats a dangerous thing to do, either side of the border, I believe (at least amongst agegroups 55+)

Honestly, the reason there's a German version of Wowhead is because there are German speaking people who help translate. IIRC, rosemount did a lot of translating for the German site, and rankkorr did some Spanish work. It all depends on whether they have enough people to justify the translation and enough people who are
fluent
in both languages to translate.

Unfortunately in the profiler are missing the new realms Nemesis and Well of Eternity, so I'm unable to fetch my charaters when using the site in English.
Wowhead is almost completely useless for Italians now...

We have some volunteers who have offered, and we do plan to do an Italian version, but not until after MoP releases.
We can add the 2 new realms to the profiler. :) I don't think Wowhead is useless to Italians, as demonstrated here, you guys do speak excellent English and you have been using the site. We will be translating it though as soon as we can.

But those are just a few out of 70k Italian visitors :P Also, I don't think every player now using itIT used enGB before.
German and French as the EU launch locales:
Not many are aware that German is actually the most common mother tongue in Europe, there are more native speakers than for English and French combined - in Europe.
And French because Vivendi ;) (also the reason why Blizzard has its EU HQ in Paris)

Great! Thank you!

Maybe not useless but very difficult to search quests and items in different language (the translation is not always "perfect" because blizzard have "adapted" and not "translated" the game to Italian).
