Hidden places arent as exciting as they used to be now that we can fly in azeroth. One of my favorite places before the Shattering was the little underwater town in Tanaris waaaaay out in the deep water. My favorite place now, the area behind Deathknell, this area is believed to have a old god underneath it according to lore as it drove the elves who settled there insane with the voices they were hearing. If you find the area where theres things on the ground that makes a circle, every so often darters will spawn and start singing and start casting some cool effects, really cool to see.

If you can still access the unused parts of the karazhan catacombs, that used to be a nifty place to get into. Also, the island way south of tanaris that was used in the opening of the ahn'qiraj gates event.

The islands were never hidden, newbies just thought they found something mysterious and cool heh. Always got a kick out of guild chat when someone was leveling in tanaris and would see them from a distance on the main land and freak out thinking they found something big. And yes Kara crypts are still easily accessible.

Yeah, there aren't really all that many places anymore that I would consider 'hidden'. There is a person on Youtube, TheWizardTrokair who does videos about just this thing. I'm not sure I would recommend actually doing any of the things they do,though..
I like the empty houses in the mountains of Stonetalon by the sea. I always wanted to believe some Pandaren lived there, but they just went out to lunch or something.

The Dancing Troll Village tucked between Winterspring, Moonglade and Darkshore as shown here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_U_VowdeVU
used to be my favorite place to hang out mostly cuz it was very difficult as a warrior to access without dying. Post Cata this are has been opened up and is now part of the Darkshore quest line.
I wanted to add i discovered this area while taking the flight from Darkshore to Winterspring and it was several weeks working out how to get there, yes I could have googled it and been there much sooner but what fun what that be? Finding those hidden and difficult areas was one of the most appealing aspects of the game to me early on, much like discovering vendors in out of the way locations that sold useful items one at a time every 3 hours or so.

The huge waterfall in Darkshore
Under this waterfall in Darkshore is a hidden place. If you jump from the waterfall in to the little lake under, you will enter a cave. There is something waiting for you:-)
Not that hidden.

Since Cataclysm redesigned most of Azeroth there aren't actually that many hidden spots left.

Not really hidden, but where Marshals Stand used to be in Un'Goro crater, there is a memorial to Dadanga the kodo NPC that you used to feed for your quests. I cried. Thanks Blizz. Didn't notice if Linken was still there.. too broken up.

This might be an older thread but it's probably worth mentioning that trying to access some areas such as the Kara Crypts can get you a suspension or even banned.
If you have to glitch the game to see the area then you are risking GM action.
