Helpful Threads and Guides - Read Before Posting! *Outdated, do not use.*

Edit: Still not on this site, still not on WoW. If this wasn't already out of date, it's completely useless now that MoP's out.
This thread should be pretty self-explanatory based on its name. It's a list of depositories of information in Wowhead's forums, Wowhead's guides, and off-site, which may provide answers to your questions before you've even asked them. Briefly, here is a run down of the tags you will find herein:
<Last updated <
patch number
>> - This tag does what it says on the tin. It will tell you the last patch in which the author updated the information. This will be applied to things which were written before at least one patch was added to the game, but which are still basically accurate and useful. When you see this tag, make use of the information in the link, but be sure to read any patch notes since the last update, since you may find minor changes necessitated by the patch notes. It's possible, particularly for general links (such as the paladin heirloom thread) that nothing has changed since the last update, despite the fact that major patches have occurred since.
<Outdated <
patch number
>> - This tag represents information which has not been changed since a drastic patch made it almost entirely obsolete. It is no longer a good idea to consult these links, as the majority of the information is outdated to the point of being inapplicable, or possibly to the point of being simply wrong. The only reason materials with this tag are included here is because they are the most current thing found on Wowhead.
<Guide> - A Wowhead
guide
, rather than a forum thread, this is a new feature which has its own space on Wowhead, but which nevertheless attempts to impart the same sort of information that forum threads do.
<Off-site> - Another self-explanatory tag. This simply means the link will go to a useful resource on the internet but not on Wowhead.

(N.B., the information regarding trinkets examined is still valid, but guide has no section on any trinkets added since 4.0. As such it is technically accurate but thoroughly incomplete.)
This was last updated for:
4.3.2
. 4.3 brought no significant changes to Protection or Retribution paladins. Consider 4.2 guides 99% up to date, unless they include BiS or pre-raid gear lists. Holy was changed more significantly in this patch; be wary of 4.2 material.
4.3.2 was a negligible patch, as far as paladin information is concerned.
If I've missed anything, you disagree with anything posted here, or you would like to bring something to my attention for posting here, feel free to reply to this thread.

p.s. edit: Honestly Pezz, I was thinking the same thing. I would have rewrote something as well, but its getting really busy at work these days. >_< figures right when the guides come out....anyways. Yes, I'm glad you took the time to rewrite it, and I totally support you for being the new sticky manager.
Cheers!

Hooray! Support. Yeah being unemployed and not taking summer classes (even though I should since I'm changing majors) should give me plenty of time to work on something like this.
Report me for a sticky if you haven't already, hat!

So this was a remake of svirve's, then?

Largely. I added a couple things, tried to be a bit more precise about what was and was not up to date, and updated everything that had changed since he quit doing his.
Change of plan re: outdated content. I'm picking a pretty arbitrary point between 'outdated and appearing in the guide' and 'outdated and not appearing in the guide' by basically copying svirve wherever he had outdated tags. From now on, outdated will only be used for stuff which are
still
the best on-site source despite being egregiously behind the times. For now that makes almost no difference, but it's nice to have a system, at least.

Can I get my guide updated? ^_^
I even made a new BiS list for you.

Understood, chief.
That reminds me, I have to check over this for 4.3.
Anyone posted here: If you'd like me to remove the <last updated 4.2> tag, drop a message in here that you've updated your information.
Yet another edit: I'm going to make a little amendment to the OP. Under 'This was last updated for <patch>' I'm going to give my own uninformed opinion about how radically different that patch was from the previous patch.

I flagged the BiS list as out of date. Everything else is still correct as far as I'm aware.

I've been bad, apparently. Went through and found a fair few updates I could do just now. This thread just got like 48.5% better.

If one is allowed to, I would like to shamelessly plug my Protection Paladin guide which can be found on TankSpot.
It can be found here:

Since we don't have nearly enough protection information on this page I've put it up!

This is going to get silly if I link to every theorycrafting guide on Tankspot/Maintankadin/EJ, but it occurs to me I don't have a general Tankspot link, which I should definitely have.
