I only know about screenshots in map pins because Neutro showed me.

Oh, wow. I didn't know you could do that. Thanks for the tip ^^
I think I know a way to spruce up my guide...

I love writing guides, and I find a certain challenge in trying to make the code make sense. There is of course a lot of help in the bbc-guide for this.
Feedback on the guide system:
If it is there to stay, I would really like to see links to the guides in the relevant topics.
Examples:
Clicking on
Mage
, you'd find links to all the class guides for mages.
When you look at a raid boss, you can find a link to the guide to defeat the boss
The examples ofc pertain to where I myself have written a few - but this could be made to work for almost any guide.
It may even be possible to let the author provide you with a link to where he thinks the link to his guide should be. You already use a drop-down menu to say which category the guide should be. Would probably be easy to make a box where you can input your link :)

Once our server stuff is sorted, we are going to look into making a tag system for guides =) So this would probably work well for guide authors and Wowhead administrators in classifying guides.

I agree Elfeaterdk, we've got some amazing guides in the system now and making them even easier to find would be great.

I've read Neutronimity's post in this thread on maps (ty to Asakawa for linking it), but one thing still eludes me: The "change floor" button that you
normally see
- how do we get that button in a guide? When I write the map commands I can show the different sections as per your post, but I'd really like the user to be able to choose section rather than me showing them all.

You'd have to do that with togglers or tabs I think.

Is it possible to save updates to a guide without updating it?
Post by

You mean a live guide?
You can hide stuff in the code if it's small things you want to keep track of
Some people use this method to notate their code to make it easier to navigate and edit later.
If you're making extensive changes then it may be better to copy the whole thing and make a new draft guide in which to make your changes.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

Perhaps I am just being thick, but I can't seem to get the "tabs within a tab" code working in a guide. I see it in many posted guides, so I figure it is possible. Any help would be fantastic. Thanks!

There's an explanation in
the BBCode thread
that might help. The most common issue people have with them are forgetting to close tags properly or forgetting to give both the parent \ and child \s unique names.
If you still struggle after checking the link feel free to post the code you have so far in that thread and I (or others) will be able to get you sorted in no time.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

You are indeed spot on with the parent/child not having unique names. Many many thanks for the swift response to my boneheadedness.

I tried to put my thoughts about the guide page into a visual format to organize things and give folks a better idea of what I'm suggesting. I uploaded the image as if I was going to put it in a guide so that it'd be linkable. :)
http://wowimg.zamimg.com/uploads/guide/images/1302.jpg
Things that didn't make it into the image were category suggestions. I saw that Classes is going to be broken up at some point in the future, so I won't reiterate that one now. I'd like to put another vote in for PVP as a category though, as well as Reputation. Reputation as a category could hold guides on grinding rep with various factions, as the guides that currently would fit under this topic are scattered in Dungeons & Raids; Achievements; Vanity Items, Pets, and Mounts.
Also, I noticed that the guides from 4.3.3 are now out of date, and 5.0.1 appears to be the newest patch. While I understand that MoP beta is out, it seems a bit too early to be retiring 4.3.3 as the relevant patch.

Unfortunately the HTML convert button is coming from Wowhead admin tools, not the guide system itself--the same with the 4.3.3 and 5.0.1 switch ups. We'll have to fix that later, but this week and last have regrettably been all about Mists of Pandaria so we do not have a lull to do guide fixes and other site fixes we want to do yet =\

Fair enough. I'm just so against the HTML convert button because of how many times I've accidentally clicked on it when aiming for something next to it. Then comes some yelling / crying & a long period of pressing enter to get all my spaces back.
I know everyone's really busy with MoP content, so I don't expect things to be changed in 24 hours - I just want to make sure I throw things out now so that when you guys do have time, you've seen my feedback (and everyone else's).

Can i create a guide in portuguese language only?
It is not my place to give you an official answer on this. Until we do, I will just say that if you did write a guide in Portuguese, it would take additional time for the moderators to approve it for you.
Right now we have language support for Wowhead in German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Russian. Foreign language posts are allowed in this forum and to an extent in the Guild Recruitment forums. Besides that, the rest of the forums are English only. Does this mean that Guides should be English only as well? No, I don't think it does. What it does pose are organizational issues for the guides section.
We will get back to you on an official answer.
Cheers,
Hat

Thank you! Many brazilians that use wowhead do not have enough knowledge of english language to read and comprehend an english written guide. I don't if that happens with people from Portugal too.

How's it going with Guide Tags? It's really a pain trying to find a guide you want to look at among the plethora that are available right now.
Cheers.
