Which PvP gear to get first?
Return to board index
I play as a resto druid and have enough marks and honor banked at this point to start buying my gear.
What gear would you guys recommend getting first?
I was initially planning on buying
as well as
Now I'm wondering if maybe I should grab up my equipment first since I have my honor. (chest, head, hand, legs and shoulder)
I'm beginning to think I would be crazy to not get the armor first and than keep working on the main/off hand slots.
At least I will have some resil when I hit 70 vs not having any...
I could probably afford to get 1 or 2 more pcs of armor if I buy my main/off hand first.
It might not seem like much of a dilemma actually if you look at it from the resil standpoint only.
I'm looking at it from the +heal perspective though as well.
My current hodgepodge gear gets me +544 healing right now and adding the salvation and the reprieve only, will push me to +954.
Yet if I buy the 5 main pcs of kodohide I'm going to see only +342 heals plus my current staff + heal of 115 = +457 heals.
Obviously when I enter a battleground my main role is to keep people alive for as long as possible. So if I go in there with my +heal gimped from before I'm not going to be helping as much as I was before.
I get steamrolled in AV as is by 1 person let alone a group of 2 or more.
So should I gimp my heals in hopes of surviving another 30 seconds or get the main/off hand to buff my heals and die just as quick as before?
I play a warrior, but I will try and help real fast.
In the beginning of pvp, resilience is key. Even though both pieces do have some resil...a 2 set bonus for a free +35 is orgasmic.
Personally I'd hit up at least 2 pieces of s1 gear just for that. Your healing won't matter when your getting 3 shot because people know you have 0 resil. At least your pvp shoulders normally make most people think you have some more pvp gear than you have.
I'm not a druid, so I don't wanna steer you wrong...but +35 resil for 2/5 s1 is sexy for any class.
If adding those 2 (weapon and off-hand) will push your healing up that much, then I really do suggest going for it.
very good information and good points!! that's the stuff I'm looking for.
Shoulders and something else plus the main/off hand to help keep the +heals going and a little more survivability sounds like a good starting plan.
I agree with the 2 set bonus. However, these will be replaceable. If you have honor banked up, don't use it on expensive stuff that will be replaced later. If you want the 2 set bonus, I recomend shoulders and chest. The mace and reprieve do have very good +heals bonuses, yes. But you should be getting into arena and earning points there as well. I would recomend getting all your vindicator's pieces and veterans ring first. Being resto, earn some rep with lower city and get your prayer book. Also get your medalion as soon as possible. +resil and 2 min cd dispell any cc is a major benefit and a must for PVP, especially as a healer. You will be cc'd the most. The vengeful head and legs are usually the most useful, so wait off on the s1 gear for those 2 for last. S3 first buys are usually the gloves/head (gloves being the cheapest, and head having the meta and great stats), so mind that as well, and I don't know about druid(so check for the best stat bonus from the gear you have), but for pally the s1 legs suck, so I didn't bother getting them due to the extra heals from my blue legs in normal instances... You can acquire the vindicator's gear really fast, but they may do the least to your +heals stats. However, you won't be replacing them ANY time soon. So I recomend those for first buys(possibly second to the 2 set bonus) along with the trinkets. The medalion, or insignia for the lower cost, should be one of the first things you get tho.
If your main problem is your +heals, go for the mace with +81 heals enchant. It is a major help, but essence focuser will do just as well with a little less +heals. And I don't know about the off hand here either. These would be things you want to ask a resto druid...
The medalion, or insignia for the lower cost, should be one of the first things you get tho.
Good call. The PvP trinket is priceless. I'd save for the +20 resil one so you don't have to buy two trinkets.
the trinket is on the top of the list. It just wasn't on the very top.
Yes the resil one was the exact one I was going for. I've been suffering for a while now without one but when I hit 70 I'm on it!
I don't have any plans for hitting the arena anytime soon to be honest.
I play on a pvp server yet this toon is more pve geared. So it's more of; get some gear to fill in for what hasn't dropped until it does and still have the gear to continue to play bg's when I want to. Maybe that will change if I can get in on a good arena team but again not something I'm aiming for. I don't think I'm that great of a healer even if I do make the top 5 or better in heals in AV or any other bg. Mainly I'm looking at gear you can buy with honor only.
I have a ways to go still for lower city rep as I was focusing on CR and sporeggar rep mainly. It's in the works still though for that book.
Definitely plan on getting the +81 enchant on the salvation as soon as I buy it. The essence focuser is nice but mainly for the 11p5 it has. I had a chance to buy it a few weeks back but passed on it. We'll see how this all shakes up and where my mp5 is at.
