It's very immature of you to stop doing your job because the people you are grouped with don't play the way you want them to.
Either put the vote up or leave yourself, but don't be a jerk because "someone else started it".
Ummm....are you talking about the OP? Are you familiar with 5-man mechanics in World of Warcraft? It's a popular game- you should try playing sometime :)
I don't feel that informing a DPS what their role is (which is to WAIT until the tank pulls, and then start DPS-ing) and then refusing to clean up after them when they decide to do whatever they want anyway is "being a jerk" or "not doing your job". It's actually a good way to train them not to be idiots in 5-mans, and to actually play the game without making everyone else's life harder. In fact, since they were clearing the instance, and is sounds like only the offending DPS died, it sounds like he was doing his job very well, and getting extra credit for instructing bad players to boot.
And, btw, this is coming from a Hunter.

Yeah, OP needs to tank better. That's what I take away from this story.

Just because people voted to kick, doesn't mean they agreed with you. It seems most people just click yes for any vote, regardless.
Not that I'm disagreeing with you about players who make life difficult. But, speaking as a DPS/Huntard (who let's the tank pull), I find tanks who tell me to play their way or sod off very, very annoying.

So many tanks are slow. If you are level 17 in Deadmines and treating it like you are pulling 25 man Bastion of Twilight trash, people are going to get impatient.

Did you really need to post a 2nd time just to add this? It seems like after your first comment failed to get an inflammatory response you are trying again.
I'm not trolling for inflammatory responses. The next two responses after mine alluded to the reason DPS tend to pull, and I decided to just state it (since I didn't state it outright in my original post).
If a tank is complaining about DPS pulling mobs, it's because the -tank- is not doing his job correctly. If the tank is out there tanking stuff, the DPS will be killing the things that are engaged. If there is nothing currently engaged, DPS gets antsy and if not given something to do they'll go find something to pull.
And lastly, I'd suggest the original poster is the one fishing for comments. "Aren't I cool for kicking these lowbie DPSers who don't play how I want them to." No, no you aren't.
Low level dps have a nasty habit of not giving a stuff about anyone but themselves. yes, ok, maybe a few of them are heirloomed up to their armpits and could tank but then - ROLL A F**KING TANK!
Again, we aren't launching rockets into space here; we are stomping through low level instances. The mobs hardly do any damage, the players have a lot of health, the healers can't run out of mana. There's no reason for people to flip out and get bent because a hunter or a mage goes to solo a mob or pulls a pack. If you are a tank you should be right up there with them pulling packs and getting agro.

When I tank I chain pull so I rarely have this issue. Low level dungeons are crap, mobs hit like butterfly's and there is absolutely no challenge in them. However, if a huntard pulls without misdirect in cata, I let them tank. Getting threat back from four mobs when svhuntards are spamming imba multi shot is just impossible. Even with aoe taunt you wont have enough threat after 5 sec after taunt fades off.
Tanks are in the game for a reason, some tanks are a little bit slower than others, if you cant live with it then just uninstall wow or start questing instead. The game really doesn't go any faster if you have to ress someone after every pull.

Ok I skipped most of the posts in here because it seemed like a lot of bickering.
To the OP, while yes it does seem like you are dealing with some annoying people, you seem kind of annoying as well. As a tank I feel your pain when dps decide that they want to play tank and pull, but not picking up the mobs is being just as immature on your part, level 17 dungeons aint raids, the fact is even with all the BOA and guild perks, leveling is still tedious, and people just want to get through it as fast as possible, so some times you will get people who pull themselfs to rush you.
Also it seems like your a bit free with the vote to kick option, I mean if some hunter said he wasnt gonna dps before the last boss, I would just do it without him rather than kick, it dosnt make a difference in a low level dungeon like that. I mean you said yourself the hunter survived and killed the adds, so there wasnt really anything wrong with him pulling.
I mean if somebody pulls that #$%^ in heroics then yes kick them or let them die, but while leveling? cmon...

As a DPS, I would tend to assume that if a tank is pulling slowly, it's because that's how fast they are comfortable pulling. Maybe they are new to tanking, and would rather take their time than wipe the group. All I know is that I am incapable of being the tank as a hunter or a mage, and so I will not attempt to be one. In my opinion, there are only two reasons that a DPS would pull before the tank:
1) They are brand new to the dungeon setting, and they don't understand a 5-man dynamic yet. They attack mobs as soon as they are ready in a solo setting, so they don't know there needs to be an order to things in a 5-man. I don't mind these guys, as long as they are willing to listen when people tell them that there's a difference between questing and doing a dungeon.
2) Arrogant DPS- the tank isn't pulling fast enough for them, so they try to hurry them up. Or, no one else is important, so they will do whatever they want and if the healer and the tank can't save them then that's their fault. No sense of team-work, accountability or realization that there is reason they may you que for one of 3 roles, and don't just group you by 5's and send you into an instance.
Having a tank tell a DPS not to pull mobs is not "telling them how to play" in a sense that they're being a dictator and saying "do it my way", it's telling them how to play so that they can actually finish dungeons without wiping. Every game has rules, and has techniques to play the game.
Baseball in Azeroth:
Batter: Ok, ready
Umpire: Son, you have your eyes closed.
Batter: There's no rule that says I have to play with my eyes open. You can't get me kicked for that. It's not in the rule book.
Umpire: I guess not...but it's a really stupid way to play...you won't be able to see the ball to hit it.
Batter: STFU...don't tell me how to play.
Umpire: Ok...(
swing and a miss
) Strike 1
Batter: WTF...Pitcher do your f-ing job!
Umpire: His job is to throw the ball near the plate so you have a chance to hit it.
Batter: He didn't even give me a chance- it was nowhere near my bat.
Umpire: You'd have an easier time hitting the ball if you have your eyes open.
Batter: DON'T TELL ME HOW TO PLAY!
Catcher: And why are you wearing golf cleats, basketball shorts and a camouflage hunting vest...you know for baseball you need the right equipment...
Batter: STFU you nub, If I can put it on, I can wear it. Stop talking about my equipment.
Umpire: You know if you play this game with the wrong equipment on, you could get yourself killed...
Batter: I'm Ignoring you.
Umpire: Ok, whatever...(
swing and a miss
) Strike 2
Batter: WTF PITCHER OMFG
Catcher: Dude, just play with your eyes open. You almost hit me with the bat that time.
Batter: You should be dodging- it's not my fault if you don't know how to play your position.
Catcher: My position is Catcher...that means I catch things, like the ball. Nothing in there about ducking.
Batter: If you can't do your job, then GTFO. (
swing and a miss
)
Umpire: 3 Strikes, you're out!
Batter: No, I'm not.
Umpire:...you got 3 strikes...you have to let someone else bat now.
Batter: Don't tell me how to play!
Catcher: That's how the game works...
Batter: I can play however I want
Umpire:...then you're out of the game...
Batter: You can't kick me for playing the way I want to!

Elhonna, that was priceless. It sums up SO many interactions players who try to help others have had with players who are absolutely convinced they know everything about the game and it's FINE if hunters wear spellpower and spirit gear, and DKs wear leather, etc...
