All those silly cleaves names ( Menstruation Cleave, African Turtle Cleave, Atomic Mushroom Cleave, Wizard Cleave, etc... ) are created by the ArenaJunkies community. They are usually named after a unusual comp obtained decent success. They don't have profound hidden meaning, sometimes it's just a reference to the 1st original who played it ( African Turtle Cleave was born on Shattered Hand US. It was named like that because the hunter usually used a turtle in duels ). sometimes they have no meaning at all.
Shadowcleave got his name because it's based around shadow damage.

I believe the basis of calling virtually everything a Cleave team originated from a specific arena comp that revolved around the use of the ability. Ultimately it just kinda...spun out of control.
I could be wrong though.
It even spawned this joke from 4.1.11:
# All Arena teams must now contain the word “cleave” somewhere in their name.

Kung Fu Cleave has probably stolen my heart for favorite name.
Does it have a meaning? Not at all, to my knowledge.

KFCleave ftw.
A "cleave" team is generally a team that doesnt revolve around the use of cc, although by now almost every comp contains the word. Why?
High Overlord Saurfang
. Thats why.
Oh, and shadowcleave because the comp has 2 shadow-damage dealers

My pvp history is a bit rusty, but I believe the origins of Shadowcleave were from the crew most successful with the comp in the US, Serennia and...can't remember the lock and paladin's names. Serennia called it shadowcleave because the basic strat for the comp was to place both DK and lock dots on multiple targets, constantly applying pressure to more than one member of the opposing team.
The dots are mostly shadow damage, and they're effectively destroying multiple targets at once; hence "Shadowcleave"
