So, I decided that for my 20k post, I would write a review. If you check that number, you’d realize that was like 300 posts ago. Too bad, I’m writing it now.
This is a review of GoldenEye 007 for the Wii. It had the misfortune of coming out around the same time as Black Ops, so not too many people have heard of it. If you have a Wii, like shooters and don’t have this, I high suggest you go get it.
A pretty good walkthrough, although I haven't watched all the vids.Rating:

Single PlayerMultiplyaerRight, so first thing I’m going to go over are changes from the original, then get into other stuff. I won’t describe any levels past the original in great detail, but I will tell when they are completely different. For those of you who haven’t played the game or seen the movie, I will mark things with spoilers.
This version is set in 2010, and has been upgraded to show it. Instead of a watch, you use a smartphone for pretty much everything. Stuff is more modern, and the armory has been expanded considerably. More on that later.
The first three levels are similar to their counterparts in the original N64 game.
Dam starts out with you and Trevelyan sneaking into the Dam itself, a throwback to the original. There’s the bridge, the watchtower and the truck.
However, instead of just using the truck as cover as you undoubtedly did in the original, you cover Trevelyan while he steals it. You then proceed to pick up and AK-47 and blow the crap out of anything in your way while you drive madly down the length of the dam. The truck eventually crashed, and you get shunted down through the side and into the actual bowels of the dam, which actually has working machinery instead of just pointless corridors filled with cannon fodder. The rest of the descriptions won’t be this lengthy.
Eventually, you get to the end of the dam, and you’re about to jump off with your parachute, when you’re stopped by Russian soldiers. They demand you give them your parachute, so you do. You then pull the cord and blast them all into a wall and jump off the edge, sliding down the water and into the reservoir below. This sets the example of how Bond acts throughout the entire game. No longer are you Pierce Brosnan, but Daniel Craig.
The Facility is huge, and a lot different. Stealth is required, but no longer is there a point like in the first one where it is physically impossible to be stealthy (you open the door and three guys are standing right there).
Eventually you reach the end and blow up the gas chambers, and are assaulted by Ourumov and his Russian soldiers. Trevelyan is taken captive and shot
You take off through a conveyor belt and out into the airfield, which is a lot more urgent than the first time around. You hijack a bike and literally jump off the airway, grabbing hold of the airplane and pulling yourself inside, after which you proceed to fly home.
A few levels were completely removed. Silo? Gone. Surface and bunker one? Gone. Other levels have been merged together. The following two levels were completely added, and in the case of Dubai, is merged with the frigate level.
Now, from here it takes a different turn. You head to Barcelona, where Valentine Zukovsky owns a nightclub. You go to find him and get information. You get to him and ask him for information. He tells you the same thing he told Ourumov, to go to a Dubai arms fair where they are showing off an EMP hardened helicopter and about ten seconds later he’s shot by Xenia, who posed as a waiter you met below. You, of course, get blamed and are forced to fight your way out of the nightclub.
You then go to the arms fair and meet a fellow named Sky Briggs, who takes you to see the helicopter. He is also shot about fifteen seconds after you meet him, once again by Xenia and Ourumov, who then take off. You follow them and are diverted into a ship docked there, which is holding the helicopter, starting the Frigate section of this version.
You get to the helicopter and manage to stick your smartphone on it. It then flies away and proceeds to blow the crap out of the frigate, while you get out of there.
Afterwards, MI6 tracks it to a “climate change tracking station” in Severnaya, Siberia. You’re dropped off there, which starts the Surface/Bunker section
#2 of the original! Surface is now a lot different. Instead of having Russians charge your face every three seconds out of the blue and snipers set up all over the place, you sneak in.
You’re forced through a few minutes of wilderness, taking down anyone in your way. This is interrupted when the first GoldenEye Satellite fires, blowing the crap out of the bunker with a huge EMP burst. After this, it all goes to hell. You sneak into the bunker to find it well on its way to being destroyed. Instead of being captured and escaping, you sneak in.
There is ruin everywhere, the lights are out and Ourumov’s soldiers are everywhere. You’re forced to fight your way through them until you meet Natalya, who you “help escape.” Honestly, there wasn’t really a point, storywise, to the Severnaya level except that the chopper went there.
You run up the stairs and are captured by Russian soldiers, who take you to St. Petersburg, starting the Archives/Tank/Station/Train section of the game.
You start out being interrogated, like in the original. However, in this version you are being interrogated by Minister Dmitri Mishkin, who once again, is shot about ten seconds after meeting him.Ourumov then kidnaps Natalya and runs. You then take an AK-47 and fight your way out of the Archives, hijacking a tank at the end of the level. Ourumov is in an SUV driving through the streets, so you’re forced to chase him in the tank, using it to shoot down any helicopters and soldiers/trucks that get in your way.
Eventually, you reach the station as the train is taking off, with Ourumov inside.
You force the train off the tracks and board it, where Ourumov, Xenia and Natalya are waiting for you. Xenia then proceeds to take Ourumov’s GoldenEye remote and shoots him You hear something about a meeting in the Park in St. Petersburg with the leader of Janus, the group causing all this trouble.
This version is a little different. Obviously, you cannot meet Zukovsky there, as he’s dead You proceed along the park. Instead of fighting Russian soldiers, you fight Janus terrorists. At the very end, you are ambushed by Janus and meet the leader and big bad, Trevelyan.
He puts you in the helicopter, which targets itself with its own missiles and fires. You eject and escape. This messes up the order a little bit, as instead of being captured by Mishkin and taken to the Archives, you escape from the Archives and go to the Park.
Afterwards, you go to the Pan-African Solar plant in Nigeria, which is the Jungle and other level in jungle which name I forget and Cradle, where you kill Xenia. Afterwards, you battle Trevelyan on the Cradle of a large satellite dish.
Character changesBecause of the timeline update and using a different Bond than before, characters have changed and been removed/added. Below is a list of character changes.
Bond: Bond is much less of the suave character he was before. He's now played by Daniel Craig, and frankly he's changed rolls. He's now more of a thug, ambushing guards and smashing their faces into concrete to subdue them. He's also now less likely to use a gadget to unlock a door as he is too blow the crap out of it with his gun (which in RL is a very bad idea, just fyi). He doesn't really go after the girls in this, except as a white knight kind of thing. Any witty dialogue he may have had is gone, now a no-nonsense kind of guy.
Trevelyan: Trevelyan has a sexy voice. Now that that is out of the way, continuing with his characterization...
For anyone who hasn't seen the movie or played the original game will probably be blown away that Trevelyan is Janus. It's pretty well hidden in this. His backstory has been changed from being pissed at the Lienz Cossack incident (as that would make him really old) to being pissed off at the banks. This gets a little
narmy at times.
Natalya: Not too much different actually, from what I've seen. She does have a retarded voice though. You do meet her at about the same time, but in a different way. In the original, you meet her in the jail cell, where you help her escape just before the GoldenEye fires. In this version, you find her after the GoldenEye has already fired and help her escape.
Xenia: Xenia is probably the most dramatic change. she just appears out of nowhere onto the missile train, screams if you hit her and then vanishes, later appearing in the Jungle level, where you kill her ass.
In this version, she is a former Russian soldier assigned to general Ourumov during the invasion of Georgia. She then turns mercenary. You first meet her in the Nightclub, where she proceeds to kill Zukovsky. The next time you see her is in Dubai, after the same thing you are, where she kills Sky Briggs. Following that, you meet her again on the train from St. Petersburg, where she kills Ourumov. Last time you meet her is on Jungle, where you have a fist fight (that's actually pretty fun as it involved swinging the remote), after which you clip her to a helicopter, shoot it with a SAM and blow it off a cliff, taking her with it.
Overall it's the greatest change, as she now has the highest character kill count of the game, including you, as you only kill her and Trevelyan.
Ourumov: I love his name so much: "General Arkady Grigorovich Ourumov." He's easily the best character in this game, imo. In the original he appeared in facility, shot Trevelyan and had almost no lines. You see him again in the Silo level (which has been removed from the new version) where he shoots at you, then runs away. Lastly, you see him on the missile train holding Natalya hostage, and you the proceed to blow that slightly dazed look off of his face.
In the new version, he takes a much more direct role.
He shoots Trevelyan, as usual, but also sits there and taunts Bond, telling him to surrender. After you book it, you don't see him again until Dubai, where he's with Xenia and shoots Sky Briggs. He then steals the helicopter and blows the &*!@ out of the frigate with it, almost killing Bond as well.
Later we see him in the helicopter again, taking Janus troops to the "Climate surveillance" bunker in the EMP hardened chopper, and sets off the GoldenEye, zapping the bunker with it.
You come across him again in the archives level, where he shoots Minister Mishkin (which makes me sad, because I liked Mishkin's voice too) and the guard, screams that you've done it, and takes Natalya. You later chase him in a tank to the train from St. Petersbrug, where, sadly, he's shot by Xenia after she takes his GoldenEye remote. He had some pretty good lines throughout the game (maybe I'm just imagining these, but I'm fairly sure he had some good ones). Easily my favorite scene in the game, and I have no idea why (except Natalya has a retarded voice). Maybe it's because I love Mishkin too and it has Ourumov.
The first 1:22 is the cutscene.Zukosvky: Instead of setting you up with Trevelyan and then escaping to die in TWINE, he is immediately shot by Xenia when you first meet him.
Boris: He's been removed from the game. He does have a pretty snazzy multiplayer model though.
Mishkin: Mishkin, instead of capturing you in the Memorial level and taking you to the archives, where he realizes Ourumov has betrayed you and gives you the black box, he gets
shot. Linking video again because I love that cutscene.
Mishkin is interesting, because he sounds generally curious as to why Ourumov would set off the GoldenEye, almost as if he believes you. It'd have been nice if he'd survived adn aided you, but that's neither here nor there.
MultiplayerI won’t be reviewing multiplayer so much as the armory.
A few things.
The Sigmus sucks, never use it.
The Sigmus 9 is amazing.
The best way to level up as a newbie is to use the Kallos Grenadier.
Snipers always get meleed.
Now that that is out of the way…
I will go over every gun I can remember right now, and edit in any others when I get back home. There are a few starter sets of guns, but after that you have to level up. New levels bring gadgets (passive buffs like larger clips, more health, etc) and new guns. You can pick 3 gadgets, a primary gun (shotgun, sniper rifle etc), 1 secondary gun (a pistol) and one attachment (scope, silencer, etc). There is a gadget that lets you use two primary weapons at a time.
Sniper rifles: One sniper rifle is as good as another, tbh. The higher ones shoot faster, but that’s about it. Best thing to do is slap a silencer on there and you’re good to go.
Assault Rifles: Assault rifles are long range, rapid fire weapons. These cover things like the Kallos, Anova and the like. These are good for outdoor levels such as Jungle, Outpost and Station, but also good for indoors.
Submachine Guns: These are shorter range than assault rifles, but shoot way faster. These encompasses the Sigmus 9, Vargen and Strata. These are good for indoor levels such as Archives, Facility and are fair for outdoor levels like Jungle, Outpost and Station.
Shotguns: There are five shotguns: The SLY, SEGS, Interdictus, Drumhead and Masterton. The SLY is pretty horrible, the SEGS is pretty good. The Interdictus can have a reflex sight, which makes it the most outdoorsy of the shotguns. The Drumhead has the longest range and most firepower. The Masterton is a fully automatic 12 clip shotgun, which makes it the king of levels like Archives, Facility and the like. It brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “spray and pray.” Luckily, for online you need to be about level 50 to use this.
Pistols: One pistol is as good as another. There are minor differences, such as rate of fire and damage. There are two that are incredible though. The Kunara V is a fully automatic pistol (or burst, if that’s what you prefer), and the Wolfe .44 fires quickly and can two shot people with hits to the arm and leg. Pistols cannot have attachments.
There are three kinds of grenades:
Frag
Smoke
Flash
There are three kinds of mines (same as the original):
Proximity
Timed
Remote
Grenades on here are really dangerous, but there is an indicator telling you where they came from. You can hold the button down and lessen the time before a frag grenade will explode, then hurl it in. This is a good way to clear out rooms, as it doesn’t give them time to run.
You can vault over pretty much any small item in your way by pressing forward and pressing A. This allows you to hop over boxes and the like and use them as cover.
LevelsA quick overview of some of the levels:
Docks: There is a main central building with two entrances, with another building right next to it.. There are three rooms in the building, one of which leads to a balcony. There are two yards, separated by the building. These are generally secondary to getting into the main building, as the main building is the main way to get into either yard.
Jungle: Two bunkers run along each edge of this level, with open ground in between them. This level is unique wherein there can be shortrange shotgun fighting, longrange sniping and pretty much anything in between.
Outpost: Several small huts are interspersed beneath a main building, which you cannot go in. There is a balcony running along the edge of the building, however. There are three large towers set up at the edges of the level. This level will usually have a few snipers on the balcony or in the towers, while everyone else fights with assault rifles in the buildings below.
Archives: A two floor indoor level. The bottom floor is divided into several rooms with windows into each, stopping any major camping that may go on. There is a central room split up by computers with a view to the floor above. The top floor has several hallways which lead into a main room with the staircase to the lower floor. There are two rooms off the side, however. Beware of campers in these rooms. Shotguns are king on this level, followed shortly by the Strata submachine gun.
Facility: There are two main zones in this level
A large main room with several gas tanks and staircases leading to several catwalks
The hallways around the main room, which are cramped and filled with boxes.
For the first zone, assault rifles are usually the best, as you can shoot people across the room. For the second zone, shotguns are much better.
Memorial: A large park. Two buildings are set, one on each side. You can go inside, and they open up into balconies, allowing for sniping. The ground between the two is uneven and littered with junk and broken statues and the like. There are small towers set up that you can snipe from, and there are two or three buildings dug out of a few hills allowing you to hide from snipers in.
Nightclub: You would think, since this is an indoor level, that shotguns are amazing. As a matter of fact, assault rifles and submachine guns are a lot better for this level. This stage is split into three floors. The bottom floor is the main room, allowing you to get to the different floors. The second floor is a railing that runs around the middle room and splits into several large hallways, with staircases in them. The third floor is at the top, and just circles the main room.
Assault rifles are perfect for this, as you can shoot across the different floors. Shotguns are alright, although they can really only be used in the hallways and a balcony/staircase/niche area.
Station: The train is set up at one end, and is elevated on a concrete platform. Beneath it is a huge construction area, with materials scattered about, scaffolding set up everywhere and ramps to get to them. There is a large half constructed building in one end, with a window set up that’s perfect for sniping. Sniping from the train is also a good idea, just watch your back, as people will prowl the train with machine guns and clear out any snipers/other players they find.
I suppose that was less of a review and more of a walkthrough/strategy guide, and rambles a bit /shrug. My apologies. If there's anything you want me to expound on, reply below.
