Hey guys.
So it occurs to me as I raid on my shaman that I don't remember to redrop Healing Stream after Mana Tide.
anyone suggest any good macros? Or can anyone tell me how to put in the wait on the macro?
ex.
/y Mana tide down!
/cast mana tide
....
....
(16 seconds later)
/y Mana tide gone!

Macros can't do this. You can however, find addons that alert you when totems expire.

Power auras would do nicely and best of all it can be used for multiple things on multiple characters. I would set it up to have an icon display when mana tide is up, so when the icon is gone you replace healing stream.
btw I waited until soccergenius answered the macro part because I wasn't sure if you could still do /in ?

Quite sure /in still works, making the mentioned macro something like this:
/y Mana tide down!
/cast Mana Tide Totem
/in 12 /y Mana tide gone!

/in 12 /y Mana tide gone!
I just tried this (I was excited to see if it would work!) but was disappointed, "/in X" doesn't do anything =(

I thought so because a couple months ago, my snake macro stopped working. (It slowly drew a snake in trade channel =P)

Awwwww.
I saw someone else had a countdown on bloodlust, but that was a long time ago.
tis unfortunate.
I have powerauras, but I don't know how to set it up, got kinda lost in the menu.
Just nicked Storyr's exports for my mage, lol.

Yeah, I'm not happy at all with the loss of /in. I've been trying to come up with a solution, and I think I figured out something that might work; It's not
exactly
the same, but what I tried to do was produce the same result using a castsequence macro and two seperate button macros:
MultiBarRightButton1 Macro:
#showtooltip
/y Refreshing Mana Tide Totem...
/cast Mana Tide Totem
/y Mana Tide is down!
MultiBarRightButton2 Macro:
#show Totemic Recall
/y Mana Tide is still active...
Your Macro:
/castsequence reset=12 MultiBarRightButton2;
MultiBarRightButton1; MultiBarRightButton1; MultiBarRightButton1; MultiBarRightButton1; MultiBarRightButton1; MultiBarRightButton1; MultiBarRightButton1; MultiBarRightButton1 *
This way we can use the castsequence's reset countdown in place of /in. However, instead of /yelling your text when the countdown ends, it will instead change the image on the macro from Totemic Recall (or whatever else you want) to Mana Tide Totem.
This solution is much more complicated of course, but it
should
produce a similar result: it will still count down from 12 when you cast the totem, and it will still 'notify' you when the countdown ends.
The main difference (and the biggest issue, at least to me) is the 'method' for informing you that it's time to refresh Mana Tide is a bit less visually effective than a simple /y. (Another issue is that it requires three open slots somewhere on your action bar(s) -- wish there was a way around that one >.>)
...honestly though, like another poster already said, if you have power auras you're much better off using that instead.
Edit: Hey greywolfsage, if you can't find the right export for power auras, then you're welcome to give the above macro a shot; Just remember, you actually have to make three seperate macros, and you have to update the 'MultiBarRightButton' part depending on which slot / action bar you decide to put the first two macros...(btw, I totally use storyr's exports for my mage as well ^_^)
* the reason i've repeated "MultiBarRightButton2; " multiple times at the end of my castsequence is because I want it to indefinently 'cast' the macro in that button slot every time it's clicked until the countdown gets reset. If anyone knows a more efficient way of producing the same result, I'd be very grateful.
edit: clarity >_<

do you guys kwond if the are many code thas making scan and then doing the work
(this is a littel from programing but making marco it is like progmaming a program XD )
a=0
b=30
if b=a then
yell "time is over"
else
a=a+1
i hope you have unstand what i meant
do we have something like thas?
Macros is, essentially, roughly like programming, as most checks - which is an essential part of programming - is left out (conditionals fx. can't be used, as far as I remember, as it would make botting easily possible). The example above would be have to be executed every second to be of any used - and automatic stuff is certainly not something WoW supports (refer to the botting issue again).
I actually think that's some of the reasoning behind the removal of "/in", but I don't really follow the macro- and LUA-side of things at all. Oddly enough, I'm not really interested in the programming in WoW, even though I'm a computer scientist :P
Sorry for the slight derail by the way ;)

mulitibarrightbutton1 marco it will just drop mana tide and it will yell 2 time whit in 1 sec
this will not work
multiarrightbutton2 i not unstand why to have this marco it is yelling the mana tide is still active and to yell it we muss use the marco so this not make any sence to me why to have this marco
what it is doing your marco? XD
to make a marco like thas you will nice to put a timer whit in the marco
do you guys kwond if the are many code thas making scan and then doing the work
(this is a littel from programing but making marco it is like progmaming a program XD )Sorry about this, I realize it's quite confusing: MultiBarActionButton1 and MultiBarActionButton2 are simply place holders where I can dump code that castsequence doesn't recognise (/y in this instance): You won't ever need to press them individually, the only macro the player ever need activate themselves is the macro labeled 'your macro'.
The complication arises from the fact that the only way to reference another piece of code in a different macro is to set that macro to a button slot
and then
reference the button slot itself in the original code >_<
Oh, and don't let the '/y' stuff confuse you; it's just there for reference (in case the user presses the macro before the reset) and to announce to both you and the group that the totem is being recast (after the reset.)
Edit: I realize that this explanation is still rather abastract, so let me clarify:
You have a macro. It alternates between two different pictures. When the first picture is displayed (tooltip for mana tide totem) and you click on it, it announces "recasting mana tide". Then it casts a mana tide totem. Then it announces "mana tide is down." Then it switches to the second picture (your choice) and starts counting down from 12. If you click it before it resets to the first picture, it will announce "mana tide is still active." When it finishes counting down from 12 it resets to the first picture. This is not too different from the default UI, except that it will announce everything to the group.
Again, I'd like to emphasize that this is an overly complicated fix for a relatively minor problem that could just as easily be solved via power auras - I only wrote it to show one possible solution that wouldn't use addons.
Yeah, world of warcraft unfortunently does not allow conditionals....if they did, it would make writing these things a helluva lot more efficient : (
I agree about the botting thing, though. I actually think that's some of the reasoning behind the removal of "/in", but I don't really follow the macro- and LUA-side of things at all. Oddly enough, I'm not really interested in the programming in WoW, even though I'm a computer scientist :PDon't blame you: if I did computer science for a living, I would definently not want to think about how to program abstract macros for my liesure time activities - would feel too much like work (which, ironically, is where this is being typed from : P)

Indeed -
too
efficient. You would essentially be able to make a macro that played the game for you.
@nikos:
A bit off-topic, but I'll answer that post of your in the shiny new Off-topic thread I made - I think we need that after all! :)
