It would be nice if we could edit polls. I realize that could cause problems in some cases with the OP abusing it to completely change things, but it's still annoying that I can't add/change anything as it is.
A couple other suggestions I've been thinking about that may or may not be viable:
1) Make it possible to retroactively add polls to threads. For instance, I'd have liked to add one to my Comic Discussion thread, but it's not worth making a whole new thread for.
2) Give us the ability to add more than one poll to a thread. Some questions/topics are too varied and wide to fit under one question.
3) Give people who reply to a thread the ability to make polls.
I know each of this raises it's own set of problems, but I think each would bring something nice to the system.

So far, I think that the poll feature is pretty sweet. I agree on most points with Hyper thought. I have added my feedback along with his original thoughts.
It would be nice if we could edit polls.
Maybe a time limit? 1 hour after posting? That would leave a large enough window for people edit their polls for grammar or changes of direction. Another option could be for the OP to delete a poll, and then add a new one. OR have any edits to the poll reset the votes. Each option has its benefits, but seen as how we can't delete our posts after there has been a reply something should be done to prevent additional work load of the moderators to delete redundant polls.
1) Make it possible to retroactively add polls to threads.
Defiantly would be nice to give this option to the OP.
2) Give us the ability to add more than one poll to a thread. Some questions/topics are too varied and wide to fit under one question. I would agree that more polls could make some things more interesting. The ability to check multiple options can be used to deal with this problem already, so technically, you could make 1 poll be 3 polls, if you asked people to vote for different choices with in the poll.
3) Give people who reply to a thread the ability to make polls.
I would say that this defiantly raises more problems than it could solve. Poll would get lost in reply, Would poll be able to be quoted? The size of polls would make the topic unstructured and sloppy.

What you stated is the main reason we don't allow editing; in short, we can either allow editing of the poll or editing of the vote cast. We prefer the latter.

I like this idea but I don't know if it's worth implementing.. If we were to implement this, obviously you would be able to add a poll only to a thread you yourself previously opened.. Right now this may seem useful because the poll feature is new but now that it's there and you're able to use it, you will open a poll at the same time you write your thread, so I don't think it will be very useful in the long term.
2) Give us the ability to add more than one poll to a thread. Some questions/topics are too varied and wide to fit under one question.
Then open more than one thread. I don't think having more than one poll per thread is a good idea.
3) Give people who reply to a thread the ability to make polls.
As hatman555 said, this would cause many problems.

Note that moderators can edit polls, so if you want to correct a mistake you can report your own post and ask a moderator to do so.

Queggy's saying that he sees no obvious way to edit the polls.
Another thing I just thought of. Would it be possible to have the OP persist at the top of each page along with the poll? In most cases, at least as I've used it, the OP contains instructions/guidelines about the poll. And many people are missing it because they click on the last page and fill out the poll there.

The main reason is actually that a permissions check was overlooked, and no one caught it in testing.

Would it be possible to add a counter to all the polls to indicate how many people have voted? While you can count how many people voted with the "single choice" polls, it gets a little harder with the "multi-choice" polls.
The only way I can think of doing it now is have the last choice on every poll be "I have voted on this poll" and if people don't check it, it will mess up the results.
It doesn't have to be much, just a small counter on the top bottom left or right thats says "users voted: X"

Moderators can now edit polls, so if you made a mistake you can report your own post and ask a mod to edit it.

Koper, would you be able to let us know if the way polls are right now the way they are going to stay? Or are there some people working on adding or changing anything. I know anything could change in the future, but are is there anything poll related in the works?

Right now polls are not too much of a priority so there are no changes currently planned in the future for them. They were just something I had the devs put as accessible to premium users on a whim for fun--we have a lot of bigger issues to examine and enhancements to add.
Of course, we are listening to feedback, so if it becomes that people really want a change...it can happen. After all, that is how the polls became usable for premium users in the first place. It just took a long time.
