Net....you Sir, have yet again earned my respect. That was an epic post. I have 3 younger siblings (I'm the oldest at 20, followed by my 18 year old brother, 14 sister and 11 brother) and they can be difficult to shop for. The 18 year old was easy, picked up two seasons of Metalocalypse on the cheap (a cartoon that parodies the metal band Cannibal Corpse), something which he is a massive fan of. The other two were harder though, the 14 year old is getting an xbox and the 11 year old is getting a Wii so I've gotten them FIFA 11 and Mario Galaxy, respectively, both at a reasonable price too. Dad is getting a player for his vinyls, something he hasn't had in a long time and my Mam is getting perfume that she likes.
That is coming to roughly over 200 euros. After that I have grandparents and a couple of aunts to sort out, haven't got their presents yet so I'll be using your tips for those. If you've got any more I'll happily take them. Will be moving out soon with a bit of luck on the employment front so am taking any financial advice that may turn out to be useful in any situation at all. Can cook and clean etc, just financials to be worked on now.
Who are you kidding? 90% of the world wishes they were.
This is true foley, but that is only after they realise they cannot be irish.

I've actually done that picture thing for my mother for mothers day. My dad is a freelance photographer on the side and he took a couple of photos of the 4 children, I brought it out to a local Harvey Norman store (they do electronics, furniture etc, not quite sure what the american equivalent would be), had it blown up and put on canvas for her. Why anyone would want a photo of my ugly mug is beside the point.
I have done out a theoretical spreadsheet to take account of expenses and after food, rent and various bills I will come out with roughly 600 euros a month to be used for whatever I wish. It could sway to either side in actual practice but not by a large enough amount that I would need to redo the budget entirely.
Accomodation in the area I hope to move to is all around 700 euros a month for a 2 double bedroomed, decent sized apartment with private parking and waste disposal charges included. I've taken how much my family would spend on shopping for a week (for 6 of us) and scaled it back a bit but left a bit on it so I have some wiggle room. Same applies to bills. Only thing I didn't get an estimate for was actually the heat. As for the food, I've already been advised to make stew and been told how I can make it last 3 days. As a fan of that particular meal, that would suit me perfectly. Big plus, its cheap to make.....mmmm turnip.....Am collecting recipes that are filling and cheap to make and putting them together in a folder. I enjoy trying new meals and trying variations on meals so that would work well for me.
My spreadsheet was pretty simple but 5 years of business managed to convince me to split expenditure into Fixed, Irregular and Discretionary so it is tidy and organised. Main issue is just a lack of experience, theory can only go so far unfortunately :( Any more info you want to pass on would be greatly appreciated, I extend that offer to everyone! If you have any form of information to share feel free to do so!
As regards being irish, I actually don't drink *shock-horror!*. I only rarely have a drink, normally on special occasions such as birthdays but when I do drink I'm pretty handy with it. Can handle my alcohol quite well. I suppose its my racial :P I think that nearly everyone in canada and the US have a bit of irish in them, we just seem to pop up everywhere.
How the irish get around.
What he says in this clip is true. It's how we get around! Some of his stuff is anti-english but it's all good natured banter.
Edit: Just saw foley's post, you're irish too? Excellent! Rud é, is féidir leat labhairt Gaeilge? :P

Exported? Sell yourself better! You're imported, therefore you are better quality and cost more!

I assume he taught you what it means too then :P It really is a glorious language, it is a pity that it's dying out though :(.

Excellent, now start using it in everyday situations and confuse people! I often start speaking irish, even if its just random words, just to confuse people who I think are eavesdropping. Usually if they react I know I was right :P The amount of speakers is a minority in the country unfortunately..

@NetStormer:
I love your gift advice, my wife is heading the Christmas Party at her job this year and needs to buy a bunch of random gifts for people under $20 each -- any advice for "guy gifts" (anyone chime in, she asked my advice and I couldn't come up with anything)?

You can usually find cheap grooming kits around, they'd have little bits and bobs like combs, tweezers etc. Everything needed for the modern man that likes to take care of himself. Things like wallet sets are always nice and relatively cheap too. Golf gifts such as
this
are not a bad idea either if any of them like to swing a club once in a while. Gifts such as
this
might not be bad either if the person is known to enjoy a pint or two. Failing that, if theres one or two left over that she's not too fond of she can always just buy them a tacky tie. Tis time for me to head to bed now so I'll sleep on it. If I can come up with any more cheap ideas I'll stick em up here. If you can find out what the various men like or even what they don't like it'd help narrow it down a bit for you, make it easier.
Edit: Decided to toss in an
example
of the grooming sets I mentioned.

Our mighty group of Wowhead trolls on Lightbringer EU has reached level 15-16 yesterday. So far we have cleared Ragefire Chasm once. We were rather surprised about how the bosses are buffed. Like wtf. It took us good 2-3 minutes to kill the last boss, and as the fight ended, there were only two people standing o_O I have no heirlooms on my bear, and i only had a few items with stam... the boss could dig through like 40% of my hp in a single hit. The healer was OOM fairly fast, since he did not have many items with intellect at level 15, god forbid spirit. It was kinda challenging. But aggro was fine... even though i only have Maul and Mangle at level 15, there are never packs of more than 4 mobs, and with the snap aggro from Thorns, it can be held. Especially if people focus fire monsters one by one.
But yeah, noone has AoEs in ragefire chasm. People are gonna get their AoEs sooner than i am :-/
edit: I find that we level much slower when hurdled in a group, than when alone. I was able to catch up to what parra and yuna have been leveling for 3 hours in 1 hour. (at least yuna said you were online for 2 hours before i came online)
But then again, their sense of orientation is horrendous. :D
