How to become a computer hardware beta tester?

I was wondering how can I become a computer hardware tester.
I applied via dells beta testing website, but it seems that it hasn't been updated for ages (aug. 2009).

The general rule of thumb if you want to be a Beta tester is either to become known over time as a good tester so you're in demand or preempt beta test releases and apply before/just as products enter the beta testing phase.

Either way you're going to need to be really into certain forms of hardware. But...well...why else would you want to be a beta tester?

Most companies copped onto the practice of "becoming beta testers just to get free hardware" years ago. They become surprisingly unwilling to part with components once the serious bugs get worked out. Still tho, if you can work around/fix the problems...
