The Unofficial Wowhead Music Thread
Return to board index

Having to dig around all the music threads that spring up gets kind of annoying. I was thinking we could get people to post their suggestions and reviews for songs and albums here, kind of like the Book-Club. If, on the off chance that this gets stickied - coughhinthintcough - then when I get on every week I'll add all the latest suggestions to this post in a neat fashion.
Here's mine:
Poetry for the Poisoned - Kamelot
It comes out in the US in two days (I got my hands on the Japanese release). If you've ever listened to Kamelot before, you've probably noticed that Khan has a unique singing style that is easily picked out. This album is no different, but unlike other albums this one has some unique synth undertones that isn't found in their other stuff. Overall, a must-have for Kamelot fans, and definitely a good buy for any metalhead. Here's one of the songs:
The Great Pandemonium

I listen to generally any music but French electro is my favorite.
Ed Banger records
has nearly all my favorites signed with Justice far ahead. The founder also managed Daft Punk for a long time.
Justice - Genesis
Another favorite are the Red Hot Chili Peppers - although I am really curious to see what they'll do without John Frusciante as he took a major part in writing songs. I prefer their older albums because it IS FREAKING FUNKEH.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground
(Yes, I know it was written by Stevie Wonder and yes, his version is awesome too)
Remember
this
commercial? The first time I saw it I knew the music would become one of my favorite bands. And it is. The Dandy Warhols are just a bunch of awesome people who are simply amazing to see live because they really connect to the crowd.
Dandy Warhols - Godless
The last one for now is a group that can be enjoyed by people of any age:
Buena Vista Social Club
. Huge respect to them (although a lot are deceased) for what they achieved. The wiki is worth reading!
Buena Vista Social Club - Amor de Loca Juventud
Have fun listening!

So guys... I listen to Dragonforce. *checks sig*
Everybody seems to hate them, so I'll just leave it at that.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR!1
I like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Metallica, Godsmack, Tool, Slayer, Slipknot... Pretty much all metal but Korn and Megadeath (Peh, not quite Metallica wannabe's.) Oh, and Cannibal Corpse. Nice riffs, lyrics meh.
Oh yeah, DF too.

Slipknot, Mushroomhead, Chimaira, AC/DC, Metallica, Slayer, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, KoЯn, Dope, Machine Head, Parkway Drive, Anthrax, Pantera, Guns 'N' Roses, Trivium, Disturbed, Mudvayne, In Flames, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Silverstein, Kataklysm...
That is pretty much my choice in music at the moment, although the list will probably change over time, as in get larger. I like to think I listen to a variety of music, but in the end it is either metal or rock, though I do not listen to the latter that much.
Before I started listening to those bands I did not really listen to anything at all, when I started to listen to them that was when I got into music properly.

Dragonforce, Eminem, Tenacious D, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Slipknot, Daft Punk... the bands/singers mentioned in this topic up to now, that i really enjoy listening to.
Some other favs would be Linkin Park, Skillet, Three Days Grace, Evanescence, Nightwish, The Glitch Mob, Within Temptation, The Prodigy, Tim Minchins, The Beattles, Rammstein, Offspring, Sum 41, Blink 182, Haggard, David Guetta, Good Charlotte, Rufus Wainwright, James Blunt, Lady Gaga, Disturbed, Green Day, Gorrilaz, and many many others i forgot...
If anyone can actually tell what kind of music i like, heh, id be curious. Generally, i am not restrained by genre, i look for interesting voices, or tones... whatever "catches my ear" with some inventive elements has a chance to get into my playlist. I am also quite fond of a few instruments. Violins, saxophones, and really juicy electric guitars are my piece of cake.
Skillet - Hero
This is a song i'd like to point to. Both voices are interesting imo, and the guitars give me eargasms.
(@pudge05: dude, learn to name your links. i dont want to click at every single link in this topic, and it is good to know what i am gonna get before i click on a link)

Blech.
I don't like like anything they play on the radio, (Bleh, Enter Sandman) they really come into their own on the less well known songs, like Eye of the Beholder. And, yeah, I'll admit I like some of the well known stuff to.
On a second note,
these guys
are awesome.
