Ok, so. I'm one of those people who doesn't have any antivirus programs and never thought I'd get one, because I don't visit "those" sites. Well, suppose my luck finally ran out.
Anyone know how I'd get it out of the system without an antivirus software, and what it may do to the World of Warcraft files?

Oh terrific. -.- As for getting an anti-virus program now, the only one that seems availableis Security Suite.
Oh, I should mention that the virus is stopping any programs from running except the internet to advertise the Security Suite service for $70.

Ok, got the directions right down to #5.
IS IT PERFECTLY SAFE to install and run Norton in that case?

I just popped in to recommend a good free antivirus -- Avast! Home Edition. I stack AdAware on top of that for max security. Works quite well! Good luck with getting rid of the virus!

k, working on step 5, was going to install Norton over the net but oh hey! Unable to connect to the internet!
"
www.verizon.net"
is not set up to establish a connection on port "World Wide Web Service (HTTP)" on this computer.
Would this be the ISP shutting me out?

You have scareware installed. We're going to do this the American way. Save any important documents like photos to a USB drive and then nuke your operating system. Reinstall Windows (I'm assuming), get it fully patched, and then put Avira Antivir, COMODO Firewall, Spybot S&D, Malwarebytes' Antimalware, Mozilla Firefox (with NoScript, AdBlock Plus, and WOT - Google them), and Secunia PSI (all free programs, and some of the best available) onto your computer.
Trust me. This is the only way you'll truly feel safe.

Simple solution to getting rid of a virus that works 100% of the time:
Save everything you want to save (documents, games, other files, porn, ect) onto a DvD, CD, Extermal HDD or other storage device, and just wipe your hard drive. Most, if not all computers have a function in the BIOS to reset the hard disk to factory, and very, very few viruses infect certain files. From what I've seen, most viruses just infect the registry and operating system, and major programs like Explorer and Internet Explorer.

Ok, going the save to disc route.
The only discs I have available at the moment are 4.39 GB max memory. All of my pictures and music files take up 1 GB barely; WoW takes 13.9 GB's. Now, my father doesn't seem to think I can get a disc capable of holding 15 GB's.
Is he right?

NO. Those "anti-virus" virus programs also change a setting on your machine to try and restrict you from accessing the internet. On an XP machine, you open Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Connections, and click the LAN options tab. Uncheck the 3rd box that is for using a proxy server. On my machine, I choose Auto-Detect, but that may varu depending on ISP.
And.....I run AVG, Malwarebytes, and Ad-aware....and I have been hit by these things a couple times. So while I do advise you get at least an anti-virus program, thats not necessarily the reason you picked this one up.
