This rumor goes on to suggest the race was then canceled for reasons concerning "pandas being a sacred animal" in China, or with the "political problems Japanese/Chinese hybrid", in WC3 beta, pandaren wore samurai armor, but this was soon fixed. There's the full rumour; Rumour, as in not a real thing. If they were 'sacred' and 'not allowed' violence... then why was Kung Fu Panda allowed release in China? Seriously, it was never about the violence. Especially with this part:Another persistent rumor regarding their non-inclusion in the game is that there is a law in China prohibiting any depiction of violence against pandas, even anthropomorphic pandas, even in a video game. This rumor is, in fact, baseless. Not only does such a law not exist, but there is at least one Chinese MMO that does feature both PvP and a playable race of pandas. "So yeah.

Can we stop to care and just say that:
Pandaren as a playable race would be cool!

It would only be cool if the alliance get it as a playable race. Then I can finally go to Org without seeing hundreds of lame rp macros that get spammed by American culture vampires. That and they'd be fun to kill in battle grounds.
BLASPHEMY!
THE PANDAREN SHALL BELONG TO THE HORDE!

As others have said, China won't allow games that show panda's getting hurt. They will never add in content that excludes one of the most populated countries in the world for playing. End of story.

"Id suggest reading the thread before posting Ripht.

But reading requires me to not just blindly put my opinion out there for all to see!

Why even bother Adamsm? I've been fighting these stupid Pandaran rumors for...what...three years running now or something like that? I lost track I think. Nobody ever reads, nobody ever cares, nobody ever learns.
Anyway, to stay on topic...
Yes, I think Pandaran as a playable race would be very interesting. I don't really care which faction gets them though honestly. If the horde get it, I'll look at it, run it's starting zone, and walk away. If Alliance get it, I'll more than likely level one until I get bored and shelve it with my army of alts. Assuming of course I'm still mainly Alliance at the time, otherwise switch them up.
This certainly wouldn't be the first time one of Blizzards jokes has gotten out of hand and taken on a life of its own.

Seriously, anyone who continues to say 'China sees the pandas as sacred and won't injure them in a game' are either trolls, idiots, or attempting to flame. I think from now on, when they say the stupid things, we don't respond and move on.
Do you want me to throw you into a cage with a panda to see how "cute" it is when he maul you to death?
You do know that Giant Pandas are largely docile and almost completely herbivorous. That thing about Pandas always eating Bamboo, they don't just make that stuff up to make them seem cuter.
They are still vicious; get between a mother and her pup and see how long you last.

Actually I'm pretty sure that the reason that Blizzard won't make Pandaren is because China will rage at their beloved pandas getting hurt and getting killed etc.
Maybe not.
But anyway, I don't understand the hype about Pandaren, I mean seriously, they're not that cool o_0
But then again that's my opinion.
If you read any of the five posts directed toward this in the thread - in fact, if you'd read the thread
at all
- you'd see that this is not true.
Again, the only reason that China had any issue with the Pandaren is because they depicted a culturally-important Chinese animal in Japanese-style armor.
There are no laws in China regarding imagery of pandas (save in one province, and I cannot confirm that the law ever passed). Kung Fu Panda was released in China. Ranma 1/2 is allowed in China. Numerous other media depict pandas generally getting the crap beat out of them.
As for Blizzard saying they would never be player characters? I'd like a source for that; it's incredibly,
incredibly
rare for Blizzard to ever say never.
The only difficulty that I foresee with Pandaren would be giving the alternate faction an equally-loved race to play. I'm not aware of one that currently exists - unless perhaps they made Murloc tadpoles a playable race...
