Best Professions for Druids?

Hey - what would be the optimum professions for a feralDPS druid?
Not just for leveling, but with end-game in mind. I'm not focusing on PVP - I jump in for the occasional matches to get marks for a few pieces of gear here and there, but that's about it.
What say you, Wowhead?

i enjoy being a LW JCer
go skinning mining and max those out while farming mats to max out LW and JC (you can find
guides for lvling all the professions
here on wowhead) and then drop skinning and mining for JC/LW and get skinning/Mining on an alt.

I'm enchanter + JW. Either that or JW + BS are usually the best options.

A point worth noting: Blizz has gone out of their way to make druids take Herbalism. We can gather herbs in forms (most notably including
Flight Form
, of course, but
Travel Form
and
Aquatic Form
ain't bad while leveling). We either start with a hefty
bonus
to herbalism, or in the best
starter area
for a herbalist. The tracking/collection of herbs is useful in
some
druid
quests
.
Lifeblood
is useable while
prowling
and in forms that generally
keeps
you
from
casting healing spells.
And those are just the druid-specific good reasons to take Herbalism. :)

And on top of this every good raiding guild won't even consider your application if you have this utterly useless profession.
It's a good money maker but for raids I strongly advise against it.

I like herbalism/alchemy for a couple reasons.
1. Elixirs and Flasks have a stronger effect on you and last twice as long. That's awesome (I love my Flask of the Frostworm giving me ridiculous amounts of spellpower for 2 hours). Don't listen to Megavolt when he says "no good raiding guild will take you if you have that profession". He's talking about min/maxer guilds that are raiding 5 or 6 nights a week... and most likely that isn't you. And even then, I've NEVER seen a hardcore guild like that care about professions.
2. As a druid, you WILL respec at some point in your career, if not for any other reason than to change it up. Alchemy is probably the most flexible profession of all of them, so if you want flexible, alchemy is great.
All professions have something they are good at, and this expansion, blizzard has gone more and more out of the way to equalize them. In the next expansion, expect even more equalizing. Lots of folks that have the double crafting professions to help maximize effect of professions for raiding may be surprised next expansion. Blizzard has a made a few posts about their intentions to buff the gathering professions, such as mining, herbalism, and skinning.
Just pick what you want. :P

Because gems aren't flexible amirite?

Very true, MegaVolt. The OP is leveling the character to do raiding, so he probably should do the switcheroo ignis86 suggested. I just wanted to point out how perfectly herbalism fits the druid.

JC+BS is the most flexible. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Best for Reaching ArP hard cap. Best for agil stacking. Best for Resto and boom as well.
You can stack anything you want with JC+BS. Stam, AP, SP, haste, crit, hit, spell pen, ArP, strength, agil, int, mp5, spirit, defense, parry, resil, expertise..... the list goes on and on.

Actually as much as we hate even more RNG Tailoring is the strongest profession for boomkins. Largest reasoning is that the normal cloak chant is haste verse an SP increase.

I have JC/mining now, but I'm really contemplating swapping mining for LW. I'm mostly bear btw.

If I were you I'd take a combination of either LW/JC or BS/JC.
JC is in my opinion the best profession from a raiding perspective.
I kept LW (aside from Fur Linings) because I want to take advantage of the new reforging system when Cataclysm comes out.
BS is just about two additional sockets basically (which is great of course!). You won't be able to use ANYTHING else from BS (maybe the keys, but thats it). I couldn't bring myself to level a whole profession from 0 just for that.. Plus, I like the idea of being able to actually WEAR what I craft. I know the LW craftables won't last you very long as well (if at all) but I'm still hoping for great BoP recipes in the future.. :P
Bottom Line:
JC/BS still provides the greatest versatility as an earlier poster already stated.
Regarding gathering professions:
And on top of this every good raiding guild won't even consider your application if you have this utterly useless profession.
Don't be too concerned about that (player skill ftw!). I suppose you wouldn't choose two gathering professions anyway.. :P
