-Pätryn quickly rode his horse toward the remains of the Dragonflayer village, remembering the first assault the day before…
-“Go!” yelled Pätryn, and switched on his firing mechanism. The turrets they had commandeered whirred to life, and then settled back in their mounts. The team of saboteurs from Valgarde jumped into the turrets.
-“On my mark!” Pätryn said, holding up his hand. He and a team of soldiers would cover them. “Fire!”
-Three flaming harpoons flew from the turrets, slamming into a building. The harpoons punched right through the walls, and soon flames spouted from inside the building. Three proto-drakes rose from the village and swooped toward them.
-This was where Pätryn came into play. As the turrets reloaded, Pätryn and two other death knights raised their hands. Unholy energies burst forth and grabbed the riders, pulling them from their mounts.
-One vrykul raised his axe and swiped at a soldier, blade passing right through him. The soldier fell to the ground in two pieces, and another lifted his bow and fired an arrow straight through the vrykul’s heart. The vrykul grabbed his chest and tumbled to the ground, dead.
-Pätryn leaped forward and blocked one blow, and sliced his Runeblade at another vrykul. It stumbled backward and lost its footing on the cliff, tumbling two hundred feet to the unforgiving rock below.
-The rock was harder than the vrykul’s body.
-The last vrykul leapt forward and took a sword from behind. It tumbled unceremoniously to the ground. Pätryn looked back as the turrets fired a second volley. One harpoon slammed into the small armory building at set it alight, and it soon collapsed in a crackling inferno.
-The last two it the great hall, punching large holes in the side. Soon that building collapsed as well. The turrets reloaded as five vrykul rose to meet the Alliance soldiers. The proto drakes swept closer, and one immediately fell to arrows from the soldiers. The group of vrykul split, which saved them, momentarily.
-Just then the turrets fired. Burning harpoons poked huge holes in one drake and rider, sending them to the Bay. One more hit a proto drake and it dropped, landing in the water. The vrykul climbed out, wet and cold, but alive. The two remaining swept their drakes to the cliffs, spraying fire. One turret caught fire immediately, and screams from the trapped soldier came from within.
-The other soldiers climbed from the turrets just as they were incinerated by the drakes. Arrows from the soldiers took another vrykul, killing him and dropping him to the cliffs below, and at the same time killing his drake. The last one clutched its wings to its body and swept toward the group.
-The archers were quickly reloading, but they needn’t have bothered. Pätryn raised his hands and froze the drake solid. The force pushed it backward slightly, stealing its momentum and dropping it to shatter on the rocks below. Pieces of frozen flesh pattered into the lake.
-The soldiers cheered, and quickly gathered their material. None of them wished to risk another vrykul attack, and Pätryn agreed with them.
-“Alright move to the taken base!” he called. The soldiers finished gathering up their few materials and quickly mounted up. Pätryn mounted his own death charger and started off, the soldiers following behind them…
-Pätryn shook his head, dispelling any past memories, and looked at the town. Some rebuilding had been started, small shacks had been set up, and the turrets were all online with two guards for each. A line of sharpened stakes and vrykul had been set up to guard fromt eh south.
-Pätryn neared the treeline, careful now. He got off his horse and tethered it a small ways away. He returned, deciding the best way into the city.
-“ Of course!” he said to himself, and two minutes later he was army crawling across the Daggercap Bay, the Path of Frost beneath him keeping him up. As he reached the edge of the city he waited for the vrykul patrol to move past before hoisting himself up onto the ledge.
-One vrykul noticed him, but before it could raise its voice he threw his hands outward. The vrykul was frozen solid, and the force of the magic knocked him backward. The ice teetered dangerously for a couple moments on the ledge looking over the bay. But in the end it tipped a little too far, and the frozen vrykul fell into the bay, and was quickly submerged.
-Pätryn immediately moved away from the area; the splash would draw attention. He neared Utgarde Keep, and slipped inside its massive doors…
