((I know, it's pretty late. But meh, I'm suffering from alot of things at the moment. Like writer's block. And parents.
Part 3 Part 5))
Jade looked around. Even though the place was surrounded by earth and thus somewhere inside, it was huge. Goblin technology kept the place going, it controlled the lights, the base of the building and the security. It closely resembled the Gurubashi Arena Jade had seen once trough a magic scrying orb. Such orbs were scattered throughout the Gamewheel Arena, presumably to record the fights and sell them.
In the middle of the area was a huge steel cage. Machines in all its corners poured a black gas in, shrouding whatever it contained in mystery. A roar could be heard from inside it.
Kazzle’s loud voice once again sounded throughout the building; ‘I had been wondering when you’d finally show up. We already sold your wife’s body and you weren’t even here to stop us! Really, I am overcome with disappointment. But it doesn’t matter now, we’ve got plenty of good combatants for you that will provide the crowd with amazing entertainment and me and the boss with a pocket full of money.’
‘So let’s get it started then. Your first fight will be easy… for your enemy, that is. Hailing from the wild jungle of Un’goro Crater, meet the raging Devilsaur, Gravejaw!’
The machines stopped emitting smoke and cleared the cage of visional obscurities. A massive red Devilsaur stood inside and looked at the group hungrily. The cage door fell open and it stepped outside. It ran towards Nervaun and… sat down.
The Hunter stroked his pet on the cheek and said; ‘I’m glad to see you again, boy. But I’m afraid there’s no time for games now, we have a Goblin to eat.’
Gravejaw nodded and bended down further. Nervaun climbed on his neck and pulled out his gun. When the pet stood straight, the Tauren took an impressing pose and said; ‘Next!’
‘Wait, that was your pet?’, Kazzle responded, ‘I knew I shouldn’t have let Brohm do the paperwork! It’s a complete mess in here. Never mind, I’ll send in something equally big’
The ground started shaking. The bottom of the huge cage disappeared, and something rose up from below. Seconds later, a Hill Giant with crazed, red eyes had ripped the cage apart. It charged straight for the biggest target around – Gravejaw – and knocked its rider off.
The group reacted immediately. Mec’lan put a Totem on the ground that increased his allies’ defenses. He charged up a Lightning Bolt, aiming at the behemoth’s torso.
Jade and Krahnn simultaneously charged at the Giant’s right leg and started scarring it with their weapons. Saldrius, who was still out of arrows, ordered his owl Sufferwing to attack its face and distract it while he searched the Arena for ammunition.
Jalen corrupted and cursed the Giant, slowly pulling him to his doom. It was clear what kind of caster he was. He pulled out a wand made of bone and assisted the Warriors in bringing the Giant down.
Gravejaw kept the enemy’s focus on him by biting at him and dodging the swings of his arms. Meanwhile, Nervaun got up and threw a spare quiver full of arrows to Saldrius. The pair of Hunters started firing at the monster’s face.
Jade, Krahnn and Jalen managed to weaken his leg enough for the towering horror to lose his balance, which proved to be his downfall – literally. Gravejaw grabbed his arm with his massive teeth and swung him on the floor. When it lifted his head, a Lightning Bolt of Mec’lan, Shadowbolt of Jalen and Arcane Shot of Saldrius ripped through his skull and finished him off.
Kazzle’s response was enthusiastic; ‘Perfect! Phenomenal! What harmony! Truly fantastic entertainment! I’d also like to remember our trusted clients that the bets on who of the new guys will bite the dust first our now open. The biggest profit can be made on the Troll. Now, moving on to your next enemy, something smaller, BUT, no less dangerous! Here are our own Arena Champions!’
Five heavily armored gladiators entered the Gamewheel Arena.
