Random Raid finder
Return to board index
just a few thoughts on the random dungeon finder of LFD in which some changes might be possible.
I am now at the top of my not-so-much-raiding-guild (looking at gear score that is) and am trying to do some endgame raids. It is however very difficult to find a good group, because every time I join a PuG, the group shatters after a first wipe. Which is really annoying, because we all have to learn the fight. Apparently not all people think the same way...
Wouldn't it be easier to create a random raid finder, with a similar setup as the LFD tool? That way I could more easily join a group and if one group fails I could join another much quicker. I assume Blizzard doesn't want all lvl80's to storm into endgame raids, so maybe some sort of achievement would be necessary to be able to use it (Champion of the Frozen Wastes for instance?)
Not sure though if there have been other posts about this topic, but what are your thoughts on this?
Personally I think that a LFD tool for raids would make PuGs even worse than they usually are. I just feel like it would take away from the responsibility of a good raid leader...like checking gear score AND your actual gear...so you don't end up with a ret gemmed for mp5 or something like that. I do see where you are coming from about pugs all ditching after a single wipe and yes it is annoying but sometimes it is acceptable...like when half a raid wipes the first time an aoe is cast....but ultimately I think the current raid browser would be better than a raid system like the LFD tool. Best advice I can give you is just find yourself a decent raiding guild...sometimes it takes a while but it pays off in the end.
. . . . . there is one. Just type
First, @ Noatalba - You really should read the original post before responding. LFR is not a random finder in the same manner as LFD. It's quite different, and holds essentially the same functionality as pre 3.3.
@OP - I don't believe it would work well. One good aspect of PuG raid leaders (at least in my experience) is having a vent available. While the communication is perfectly workable with text, I see too many idiots spamming raid chat with pointless stuff for that to really work, especially with 9 other randomly chosen people. Just throwing 10 random people together would probably result in a lack of vent, though not necessarily.
A second reason is raid composition. With 5 mans, you can throw any combination of tank/healer/3dps together and it will work as long as everyone is reasonably competent. With raids, a basic composition is thrown into question. Do you need 1 tank, 3 healers, 6 dps? 2 tanks, 2 healers, 6 dps? A mix of fight mechanics, player gear, player skill, and spec determine what composition is going to work for your group, and there really is no way to pick a straight composition that will work with everyone.
All of the above is IMO, and good luck in your future ventures OP.
find yourself a good raiding guild if thats what you want to do.
wow realm forums always have recruiting posts...casual guilds, hardcore guilds, just like looking for a new job.
