I was wondering what some people thought of this idea? Or would this be basically be a stun locking spec?
I was thinking I would Shadowstep -> Cheap Shot -> Garrote -> Hemorrhage -> Kidney Shot -> Sinister Strikex1 or x2 -> Rupture or Eviscerate.
ALso I was wondering more on the PvE/Soloing side of things though I would like to hear from rogues from all aspects of the game.
My rogue is currently Combat Swords level 62.
Here are my thoughts as a 70 combat sword rogue.
First off if you were to get hemorrhage then it would be pointless ever using sinister strike, so the 2 talent points in imp SS would be wasted.
Hemo is a non-normalised attack, basically what this means is you want a really slow mainhand (ideally 2.8 or slower) which are few and far between.
Subtlety has some very nice utility talents and can give out pretty nice burst damage (although that is mainly for sub daggers) when first emerging from stealth. However once the opener is over you are very vulnerable and dps outside of stealth is not all that great.
Time will tell if patch 2.3 turns the tide in favour of subtlety with shadow step being usable outside of stealth (but CD increased to 40secs) and a few other changes to the tree but I am sceptical if those changes will make sub a more viable tree.
Subtlety has and probably always will be a more pvp orientated tree, sure it can be used to solo quite effectively and can provide good dps in instances/raids but ultimately as things stand atm it just cannot compete with combat or assassination (mutilate) for overall dps.
Having said all that Subtlety (in my opinion) is quite a joy to play for its unique talents and things will never get boring as sub, you just won't be as effective as other specs.
But if you do intent to go ahead with your sub build I wish you all the best, and hope you can make it work for you :)
my experience has lead me to believe:
if you choose sublety you need a very strong dagger for your level, you put on premed and shadowstep, ambush then backstab, if your target is not left with under 20% of their health you are dead.
you dont get both crits = you die
opponent is higher level or with lots of resilience = you die
your opponent sees you coming and you dont get the first attack = you die
your opponent starts with full health = pretty much you die.
i love sublety and its a lot of fun to play, but very difficult to do anything, even with all the skill in the world with it, you will get beat by another class pressing one or two buttons repeatedly (such as a sword rogue)
i have gotten 3 shadowstep > ambushes off on an equal level warrior in a fight and still lost with this build.
If you have a good lvl of crit, you might try this build
Its an extended version of lvl 60 Hemo/Seal Fate build I have been using for PvP or PvE. This built generate fast cp, good damage output and chance of survivability.
Personally I found Hemo is better than SS because it uses less energy and the armor reduction from the Serrated Blades.
Setup will come handy for cp with Evasion (2 x with Preparation) and enchants / gems (+agi or mongoose).
Initiative might look a bit useless, but an opener such Cheap Shot => Hemo (crit) might give you a 5 cp which can be used for Kidney Shot or Rupture.
Quick Recovery will come handy for energy management in times when you misses the target. Another good point is this talent give healing boost from all sources (bandages/crusader/heroism card).
Against a low HP opponent, Cold Blood => 5cp Eviscerate is a good finisher oppose to Shadowstep => Ambush combination.
Hope this help
well, for stunlockin id ride mutispec maybe like this or similar
ur usin envenom instead of eviscerate and mutilate instead of backstab, always make sure ive gotta deadly poison on.....
and ride like ---> cheap shot, mutilate (if crited 5cp), kidney shot, mutilate, mutilate, envenom.....
but it pretty much depends
Since you mentioned PVE... 20/41/0 swords or fists is the way to go (perferably swords). That's your max damage for pve.
PvP, nubletry is the way to go. It makes everything on easy mode for killing.
Uh no...this spec is not good
go with 41/20 Mutilate/Combat, 41/0/20 Mut/Sub
19/42 Combat Swords/Maces
Or if ur set on daggers 15/41/5 Combat/Daggers
I am subt spec and i use ambush when i can i crit with ambush on avg 2600 max is 3400 so that brings them down to half way then hemo them down and i dont have a problm in PVE.
For PVP i am not all that good but i can keep up with most just use shadowstep, ambush, gouge, vanish, shadowstep, ambush then help them up if you need to then add perperation to that and do another round but i have not needed to yet.
I am at the top of the damage meter when in group around same lvl and geared close to the same (i have no epics).
Nonody likes subt spec i dont know why all i hear is how much damage ypou can do with another spec so I am thinking of respecing to see if i can do better but not sure what to spec to yet.
