Best profession 4 a rouge

new to wow need help for a new rouge
I have a 70 rogue who did skinning/LW and I would not recomend that path. I have a new rogue who is about 50 and has done Eng/Mining.. and this is incredibly fun and useful. :D
Ok, seriously.. for a ROGUE, the best combo seems to be mining/engineering. There are so many awesome toys to play with that you just cant pass it up. Some are merely fluff, while other's will make you a beloved member of a group (Jumper cables XL).
Mining is pretty much necessary to keep engineering from being a huge gold sink. I made the mistake of dropping mining back before TBC, and picking up enchanting since i'd maxed my engineering at 300. I now refuse to drop enchanting, since I've also put alot of money into that as well.
Enchanting is good for farming instances, since you'll get the most money for your time, since all the good stuff will be BoP and net very little, unless you're able to disenchant it and put those mats on the AH.
While levelling, I'd suggest LW/Skinning if you are solo or a new player in general.
Skinning+Mining = Easy and fast money
Enchanting+Mining = Hard and slow , yet much more money.
Anything else is , well , a very nice way to waste your money.
lockpicking... or it's /boot !!!
I like herb/alch. I make great money at it too. Second pick would be mining/engineering.
sugarzombie, fyi all rogues have lockpicking its a stock skill. its not a main proffesion
I think that's his point. It's always a good idea to keep lockpicking up, since it can net you some extra scratch every once in awhile.
My rogue (my main and my first toon to hit outlands) is mining/skinning, though i'm severely tempted to pick up engineering for the jumper cables, among other things.
Sorry to break to all of you but most of you aren't looking in the right direction... Anything involving skinning is retarded.. no money in it but you can make your armor ... theres always gonna be better amrmor avaalable... then theres mining good choice keep it gems = cash ores = more cash ..... nuf said ......... Then engineering is nice real nice it has many practical uses while leveling but goes completely worthless at about 65... theres one other skill that is disputably the best one.... Blacksmithing... this gives you access to the "Blaze" swords = amazing off hands up until SSC/BT and the "Dragon" maces, the mainstay for the mainhand in combat maces for PvP... Both of those if you choose to get them will be the best you can get for A VERY LONG TIME... if you already have mining as a side job you'll blow little to no money getting it up..
That's my 2 cents
Engineering provides a lot of nifty items that I couldn't live without on my rogue. And of course I have Mining to supply my materials.
but in eng does it take up money or do i just use mins?? and if i wanna make money should i go skinning and mining which i already did?/
I have problems should i take LW/skining,Herbalism/alc
can you drop or change profession?
Ok as far as raiding buffs you get from the proffession, the best two for a rogue are
1. Jewelcrafting-best for any class
2. BS/LW/Alch/Enchanting/Inscription all of which give the 64AP (or if you choose BS 32AGI if you prefer)
2.5. Skinning/Tailoring which gives 32crit and is very very close to the buffs provided by the tier two professions and way easier to level. Tailoring gives a proc buff which depending on the cooldown could be as good as the tier two crafts but im not sure.
Note that this is only in terms of the 'profession only' buffs and not analyzed as far as money making potential.
