With 4.0.6, two new recipes were added, and you'll need 91 Chef's Awards for them all.

If you want to buy all the recipes, you'll need 88 Chef's Awards.

The limit is not only removed in 4.0.6, but also the tooltip is fixed to not print it.

Also, I'm not sure if it has been included in a hotfix because IIRC I saw it recently.

Because they removed the hard cap of 10, it seems more likely to me that they will include something like a Chef's Hat in a later patch. Is anyone aware of any additional items like this that may be added at a later date?

To get all the recipes you'll need 91 awards (27x3 tokens and 2x5 tokens, this doesn’t include buying Crate of Tasty Meat or Imported Supplies).
These quests give 2 tokens
The Alliance daily quests

Feeling Crabby? (Stormwind City)
Keepin' the Haggis Flowin' (Ironforge)
Ribs for the Sentinels (Darnassus)

The Horde daily quests

Everything Is Better with Bacon (Orgrimmar)
Roach Coach (Undercity)
Corn Mash (Thunder Bluff)

The rest (four for each city) give 1 so you'll need between 46 and 91 days to get all the recipes as you can only do one of your factions cooking quests each day. There is no artificial limit on the number of tokens you can collect so you can collect all 91+ tokens then spend them all at once to make it easier to remember how many you still need.

Didn't anyone notice in the description that Ogrimmar and Stormwind were reversed?

I keep hoarding them and I start suspecting they will not be redeemable for anything particularly useful. I have already the chef's hat so I wouldn't even be interested in a backwards conversion.

I suggest a portable oven.. that.. has squirrels. I don't know, something vanity at least.

I really wish they would add something new to buy with the awards, I have the hat and all the recipes. Am working on the dailies to get the added achievements, but a reason to save all the awards would be great! Something quirky, a Chef's companion (animated blender, a sous chef mouse, walking wasabi.. heck who knows), a Chef coat to work with the hat if worn together, an uber special recipe with awesome well fed stats, a big Chef knife... anything at this point!

I start losing my faith in seeing a new vanity or other item with these awards going on. This is because they recently added new achievements and they have an excuse to not add an item.

If you are trying to get as many as possible, double check each quest giver in the other cities too. The other two might have the daily that gives two awards instead of one. Which is a big help and makes it much faster to grind out.

I think we can safely say now these are useless because MoP is near. However, there is a low chance of them being convertible to something else. But I suspect it won't be very important to the point of being worth it farming for them. They could theoretically make them convertible to a MoP currency but I consider this probability minuscule since they often want people to go that new content.

tl;dr: 99% this currency is useless right now if all recipes are bought.

MoP Beta, the old/existing daily cooking quest rewards from the classic cities (SW/Org/IF/TB/Darn/UC) changed to Epicurean's award and seem to have no vendor that will accept them, spend em if ya gots them before MoP drops. The dailies now give Ironpaw tokens, which are what the vendors are taking for the recipes 400+.

All Chef's Award (Cataclysm ones) in your currency tab have now been converted to Epicurean's Award (these used to be Dalaran Cooking Award). All old Dalaran Cooking Award you had have now been renamed Epicurean's Award. This is similar to the way Valor and Conquest points converted down when new raids/seasons happen.

Dalaran Cooking Award has had its name changed to Epicurean's Award, and Chef's Award has had its name changed to Ironpaw Token.

So, say you had 100 Dalaran Cooking Award and 50 Chef's Award on your currency tab before 5.0.4. You now have 150 Epicurean's Award and 0 Ironpaw Token.

The Cataclysm Daily cooking quests in major cities reward Epicurean's Award, and all Cataclysm cooking recipes sold in the major cities need Epicurean's Award to be purchased, including Imported Supplies.

Chef's Awards are currency related to the Cooking skill. They can be earned by completing daily cooking quests in your faction's home city (Orgrimmar, Undercity or Thunder Bluff for Horde and Stormwind City, Ironforge or Darnassus for Alliance). Every day, a different daily quest will offered from the Cooking Trainer found in each city. Unfortunately, you can only accept and complete one city's quest per day - so if you've already completed Orgrimmar's quest, for example, you will not be able to complete Undercity or Thunder Bluff on that same day. It is best to be sure to check which quests are available on each day, as some quests offer extra reward (2 Epicurean's Award and +2 cooking skill, instead of the normal 1 Epicurean's Award and +1 cooking skill)!

Players can use Epicurean's Award to purchase skill level 525+ cooking recipes from the Sous Chef in your home city.

Fastest way to earn these Ironpaw Tokens is probably fishing. One stack of fish can be turned into a Bundle of Groceries which in turn you can give to Nam Ironpaw and earn one Ironpaw Token.

You can buy the empty bundle containers from Merchant Cheng, located at Halfhill.

NOTE: You will need to do all the starting quests and this quest: Preserving Freshness before you can start handing in Bundle of Groceries.

You can also do this with all other cooking supplies, including the one you grow on your farm, but fishing is probably the easiest and fastest way to go. By fishing pools you can catch 1 fish every 10-15 seconds. I haven't tried open water fishing yet but it might be faster in the long run. No flytime but catching different kinds of fish.

5.0.5 Ironpaw Token Farming guide:

You can farm these tokens in a matter of minutes if you've completed the quest Preserving Freshness.

If you aren't getting enough Ironpaw tokens from your dailies, farm some Wildfowl Breast. They have a 100% drop rate from some mobs so you can kill 20 in a few minutes. Buy an Empty Wildfowl Breast Bag from Merchant Cheng and use the item to turn the 20 breasts into a Bundle of Groceries. You can turn these into Nam Ironpaw as many times as you want for a token.

You can turn in 6 different types of meat for a token and any stack of fish from pandaria. Veggies in stacks of 100 can also be made into bundles of groceries.

The 6 meats are:
Raw Tiger Steak
Mushan Ribs
Raw Turtle Meat
Raw Crab Meat
Wildfowl Breast
Crocolisk Belly

Side note: The link to wowhead's Bundle of Groceries page doesnt contain accurate data on what you can make a bundle from. You cannot buy peaches/rice/beans/chicken/etc from the vendor and make a bundle out of them.

Edit: It took me a total of 3 minutes to farm a token this way.

Best thing to do with spare ironpaw tokens? First check out prices of 2 things.

Jade Lungfish (40g ea on my server)
Juicycrunch Carrots (25g ea on my server)

You can decide, 5 Lungfish (200g for me) or 25 Carrots (625g for me)

So I can make 625g PER TOKEN.

Simply go the vendor at Halfhill Market and buy whichever one works out best for you and enjoy all that new gold!
(Expect prices to drop soon so take advantage while you can!)

The Ironpaw Token page is erroneously talking all about Chef's Awards. It seems someone at Wowhead tried to take a shortcut and put a new name on the old item ID (Currency=402), and just picked the wrong new name.

For example, "Players can use Ironpaw Token to purchase skill level 450+ cooking recipes from the Sous Chef in your home city" is absolutely false. "Chef's Awards... can be earned..." is also false; they are no longer in game and all that exist have been converted to Epicurean's Awards.

It would have made sense for the item ID for the obsolete Chef's Award to be renamed Epicurean's Award. But Ironpaw Token is a profoundly different thing and should have had a new page made from scratch.

Hopefully, most of you are only coming here for the comments anyway. :)

Edit (16 days later): thank you Wowhead for getting this fixed.

Using your Farm for Ironpaw Tokens

So, I have a 16 slot farm, I've maxed all the cooking ways, and I'm done with rep for the tiller personas. All I want right now, are the vanity items, and my apprentice. For that I need many, many ironpaw tokens. So I plan to use my farm for max ironpaw token output. So I either get loads of veggies (plant whatever the forecast tells me to plant) - or plant Songbell Seed.

Vegetables: The forecast for today was Juicycrunch Carrot for me. I got a 115 of them after harvesting all 16 plots. Which is 1 ironpaw token.
Songbell Seed: If I plant 16 of them, I'll have 1 Spirit of Harmony and 6 Mote of Harmony. Which is also 1 ironpaw token.

However!

If we take the above, and apply it to 2 days worth of farming, we get:
115 × 2 = 230 Juicycrunch Carrot = 2 ironpaw tokens
16 × 2 = 32 Songbell Seed = 3 ironpaw tokens

So from that, I can say that in the longer run, Songbell Seed give you more ironpaw tokens from your farm. So if you just want ironpaw tokens and don't care about mats for cooking, Songbell Seed is the way to go.

So how long will it take me to get 50?
Note: I'm including the daily cooking reward in here because you'll likely be doing that alongside your mote farming. Also, keep in mind that when you complete the quest To Be a Master you get 10 tokens.

The answer is 2 weeks and 2 days (or 16 days). You can always do it quicker by doing Replenishing the Pantry of course, but this is just with using your farm and doing the cooking daily.

Some math:
16 × 16 = 256 = 25 Spirit of Harmony = 25 ironpaw tokens
So after 16 days, we'll have 25. Plus 16 dailies means (25 + 16 =) 41 tokens!

Correct me if I'm wrong anywhere, and any additional info would be appreciated! I'll update this post asap.

You can catch a fish in open water on average every 15 seconds which means...
1 hours equates to 3600 seconds
so you can catch a max of 240 fish in that hour.

Makes a total of x8 Ironpaw Token in 1 hour of fishing in Fishing Pools

Results Overall

I caught 209 fish in my hour of fishing in open water.
I caught 189 fish in my hour of fishing in fishing pools.
so my calculations above are roughly correct on how many Ironpaw Tokens you can farm in 1 hour. Give or take 1.

Which means final result is 5 or 6 Ironpaw Token a hour in open water.
and 8 or 9 Ironpaw Token a hour in fishing pools.

You may think that fishing in open water will result in more Ironpaw Token but in my case fishing in Fishing pools gave me more.

The reason being is that in open water your more likly to fish up Golden Carp and to turn in these useing Empty Golden Carp Container requires x60 Golden Carp

So my end thought on this is it's best to fish in Fishing Pools than open water.

Despite Netn's comment about fishing being the best source of turn ins to convert to Bundles of Groceries, to covert to Ironpaw Tokens, I simply do not have the patience to sit there and fish. Not only is it boring but you may not even get a drop you could use. Moving from pool to pool to guarantee a desirable drop takes too much time.

I have found the Saltback Yearlings and Saltback Turtles on the North shores of Windward Isle (The Jade Forest, approx, 66,26) are the best source. Not only do you avoid the chance of coming up with junk, but you actively engage NPCs.

Advantages of Mass Turtle Culling:

1. Easy to kill and Neutral. They have about ~~163k~~ 6.1k for the yearlings and ~~472k~~ 13.8k hp for the adults. If you attack a yearling with an adult close to the attacked yearling, the adult will become hostile to you. Oh well, you're probably going to be killing it anyways.

2. They respawn very quickly. I can clear the entire coast and have a fresh spawn grouping waiting for me at my starting point. Clearing for me takes about 3-4 minutes. This also means you wont have move very far to "reset"

3. They have a high drop of Raw Turtle Meat, of which 20 can converted to Bundles of Groceries.

4. Being a killable NPC they also drop Motes of Harmony, 10 of which make Spirit of Harmony which has many uses, including a 1 for 1 trade for an Ironpaw Token.

5. Green quality drops, which I send to a disenchanter alt. They could be easily sold if you do not have access to a disenchanter.

6. Gleaming Turtle Shell. This gray quality item sells for 6g 20s each, stacks up to 5, and has an estimated 10-15% drop rate.

7. Fishing pools (Giant Mantis Shrimp and Reef Octopus) do appear at these shores. If you need a break from your culling you could always drop a line for a minutes.

8. Leather galore if you are a skinner. More gold anyone?

Disadvantages:

1. Hostile NPCs in the area. Easy to kill as well, but can be avoided, for the most part.

2. Running out of Bag space. They do drop Turtle Shells, which stacks to 20 and sells for 48s a stack. Having a repair mammoth or yak really comes in handy here.

3. Gear takes a small durability hit. Easily overcome by the amount of gold made from vendor trash, particularly the Gleaming Turtle Shells.

Not only will you be getting the drop you need, but making gold in the process. So go, murder some turtles!

The best way to get Ironpaw Tokens is to turn in Replenishing the Pantry as often as you can independently of how you got the materials.

Fishing, hunting and farming are not the only ways to get the necessary materials. Using the auction house and trading with other players are totally obvious options and yet have been fully neglected by nearly all comments here.

I'd like to take a minute to explain the benefits of interacting with other players here.

For the sake of argument I'll take the current prices for fish and meat on my server as examples. We all know prices vary from server to server and change greatly as time goes by, so do not make decisions based on these absolute numbers, they're just here to illustrate the example.

Prices for fish on my server usually range from 5g to 20g.

Prices for meat on my server usually range from 5g to around 50g

So instead of turning 20 expensive fish into one Bundle of Groceries I'd sell them on the auction house and use the gold to buy three to four times as many cheap fish, thus tripling or quadrupling the number of Ironpaw Tokens that I'll get.

Bottom line for fishing and hunting:
Sell the expensive stuff in the auction house and buy cheap stuff to turn in instead.

Farming
In one of the comments here Inashy did the math on farming and it turned out that using Songbell Seed to grow Mote of Harmony has a greater return than growing any kind of vegetable. That may be true but you should probably not directly trade in one Spirit of Harmony for an Ironpaw Token. On my server a Golden Lotus sold in the auction house returns usually returns enough gold to buy several Ironpaw Tokens' worth of cheap fish or meat. As prices for Golden Lotus and vegetables will continue to change over time, you might consider checking out the prices of other things that can be bought with Spirits of Harmony. Also depending on how the price of Golden Lotus developes it might turn out to be better to farm the expensive types of vegetables on those days, when they are forecasted.

Even if you're not planting any vegetables you might still want to check on their prices in the auction house before you use them to turn them in for Ironpaw Tokens.

A stack of 100 of even the cheapest vegetable on my server is worth up to three times as much as a stack of 20 cheap meat or fish. So if vegetable prices on your server are anything like the ones on my server then you should never turn in any vegetables for Ironpaw Tokens and sell all vegetables in the auction house and buy cheap meat or cheap fish instead.

Trading with other players
Some players will happily trade five vegetables for one fish or one piece of meat to fulfill their individual needs. Obviously this gives you yet another opportunity to profit, because instead of saving up 100 vegetables to turn them in, you would first want to find out how much gold they'd sell for in the auction house and take the money to buy cheap meat or cheap fish, yet again multiplying your intake of Ironpaw Tokens.

OK. I don't want to interrupt a good debate or anything, but why does it have to be fishing OR farming? The two aren't mutually exclusive. Go to an area like Krasarang Wilds which has plenty of fishing pools and acceptable flesh-dropping mobs. Fish for a bit, until you want to cut your own arm off from boredom. Then kill some stuff to relieve the tension. Bored of killing? - chill out for a bit with your fishing rod. Gives the mobs time to re-spawn also. It's still not exactly fun, but at least it's varied. Relatively.

I've found an extremely fast way to get Ironpaw Tokens, but it's probably not so easy for most classes, and it's slightly better if you don't need Spirits of Harmony for your professions (as a tailor/enchanter I find spirits to be almost worthless, except for making extra imperial silk).

On Windward Isle, there are a LOT of turtles and saurok along one area. If you're tanky enough with enough self healing and AoE to handle these, you can pull an incredible amount at once, especially if happen to have a Battle Horn

I did this as a warlock (ilvl 476) in my Demo spec, with the Dark Apotheosis glyph for more tankiness. By randomly casting an instant Corruption on mobs as I ran past then hitting the Battle Horn when near a large group of mobs, I was easily getting upwards of 30 mobs in one single pull. The amount of motes you get from the saurok varies, but if you include a lot of turtles, you'll easily get a lot of turtle meat. The most I got in a single pull, a pull of 6 saurok and 19 turtles, was 5 motes of harmony and 15 turtle meat. In less than an hour, I had about 20 motes and 100 turtle meat, which was enough for me to get the final 7 Ironpaw Tokens I needed for my Cooking Student Bell.

This made me a lot of gold, as well as all the Ironpaw tokens I needed very quickly. Of course, your mileage may vary based on your class, your gear, and how well you can pull the mobs, not to mention it could be a bad day, with the Cloud Serpent faction's daily could be asking for Saurok kills that day and you'll find a lot of people farming them, but on days when the Cloud Serpents ask for other things, the saurok part of the island is usually empty of other players.

So this might be a little bit of an exclusive farming spot, but if you can handle pulling so many mobs at the same time, then this is an excellent spot to farm for Ironpaw Tokens.

Wildfowl Breast I've yet to find a decent place to farm for long periods. Good luck with that.

Incase you didn't notice, the animals with the best drop rates for their respective meats tend to be in Dread Wastes. There are other places to go, but this is mine. The droprate is good, the herb and mineral nodes are the best you're going to find. The fishing is decent if you choose to bother. And you get that nice klaxxi buff if you did the chains here.

P.S. Due to the way the spawn areas are set up, you may find yourself farming more than one type of meat at a time.

With Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm and the new zones with 'Fish of the Day' and rapid spawning pools, you can catch 100 in an hour, probably more if you focused, therefore making a farm for Ironpaw Tokens a lot quicker.

The two tall islands next to Anglers Wharf in Krasarang Wilds (68,46) are home to Great Crane, they respawn really fast and are easy to group up. They have a relatively high chance to drop Wildfowl Breast (you need 20 for one Ironpaw Token). Just head to the other island after you've cleared one and by the time you get back they should have all respawned. I much prefer this location than the turtles at Windward Isle.

In just 10 minutes I farmed:

x52 Wildfowl Breast
x3 Mote of Harmony
A bunch of green gear worth 75g in total
x3 Ornamental Feather (18g)
x90 Soft Down Feather (4g 5s)

So you're potentially looking at around x300 Wildfowl Breast an hour which equates to x15 Ironpaw Token plus whatever you get from the motes.

In 5.4, my best results for "farming" these tokens is Timeless Isle.

The packs of Great Turtle near the faction flight paths, and the Crag Stalker around and behind the lake, have been yielding 2-3 stacks of meat when I focus exclusively on them for epoch stones (Empowering the Hourglass). Turn into groceries, and complete Replenishing the Pantry).

For me, the fastest way to get Ironpaw tokens (apart from doing your dailies, selling stacks of unused mats and Spirit of Harmony) is to go the the Timeless Isle and fish stacks and stacks of Jewel Danio. The pools there spawn amazingly fast and I'm usually farming at a rate of 2 full stacks per 10 minutes (with Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm).
