Wow. Really, Blizzard? Really?

Let's see: Varian's kingdom gets destroyed when he's a small boy, and he grows up to rebuild and reclaim Stormwind-- and then becomes not only its king, but the high king of the entire Alliance.

Who took him in as a boy and nurtured him? Why, the kingdom of Lordaeron.

Here's a little quote from Rise of the Lich King, in reference to child Varian:

Terenas continued to use the boy's title; that would wear off with time, but Arthas understood why the king emphasized it now. Varian needed to keep hearing that he was still respected, still royal, when he had lost absolutely everything but his life.

Then later, Lordaeron gets destroyed when Calia is an adult, but of course she entertains no ideas of reclaiming or rebuilding a new kingdom the way Varian had. No, she's "just Calia" now; apparently, when it comes to her, she didn't need to keep hearing that she was still respected, still royal, when she had lost absolutely everything but her life.

No, she's just Calia, and your little follower who runs missions for you.

Edit: better yet, in the trailer for Battle for Azeroth the Alliance is actually shown to try to reclaim Lordaeron from the Horde... and even though Calia is alive, she isn't at the head of this battle and isn't seen in the trailer at all, even though if Lordaeron were reclaimed, she would be its rightful queen. (Yes, I'm aware it's unlikely that Bliz would actually have Lordaeron successfully reclaimed by the Alliance-- but if they're showing a battle for its reclamation in the trailer, you would think that Calia would at least be shown in it, if not at the head of it.) No, Blizzard thinks that she should "just be Calia now."

"It's just Calia now."

Even though the follower roster lists her as "Calia Menethil", and she may be known to be Calia Menethil to people who know or recognize her from the past, the quote seems to imply that she is choosing to try to distance herself from the Menethil name. Understandable, seeing the last Menethil caused a bit of a bother up in Northrend.
