Single Target and Cleave (2-3 targets)
AOE (5+ targets)
Talent choices for particular Dungeons/Bosses:
Tier 1 Talents
: Currently fairly strong talent due to good synergy with Agonizing Poison.
: Hemorrhage is your go to talent for 1-3 targets, if you're going exsanguinate. It outpaces the other options outside of niche scenarios due in part to how much damage bleeds do for Assassination in Legion. When using
, make sure to keep it applied to the targets you have affected by Rupture or Garrote. Aim to reapply Hemo to targets with bleeds on them when the debuff is at less than 6.5 seconds, and if possible, when you have 4 combo points, in order to avoid potentially wasting extra combo points generated via Mutilate crits.
: Elaborate Planning does have some uses. It proves to be an effective option when dealing heavy AoE, especially at level 110 in Mythic and Mythic+ dungeons. Ideally, only take Elaborate Planning when you know you'll be dealing with 4+ targets on a sustained basis, such as in dungeons,
it is not feasible to apply or maintain
on all of the mobs you will apply bleeds to. When playing with Elaborate Planning, aime to not clip the buff's duration by more than 1 second in order to maximize uptime. In other words, treat it like you would the
buff in terms of rotational play.
Tier 2 Talents
: Your Ruptures and Garrotes used from Stealth or
will snapshot and deal +50% damage over their duration. Use Nightstalker and Vanish in conjunction with
in order to get the most out of your accelerated Ruptures. When doing this, make sure you have 5+ combo points and 25 energy, cast
, and cast Rupture in Vanish.
: Allows Garrote to be used in interesting ways. Group of 2-3 mobs you have to cleave: Use Vanish and apply Garrote to all of them. Another use of
is using Vanish on a
you apply right before hitting
. Allows you to reapply your
as soon as
outpaces Subterfuge on single target, however. That being said, Subterfuge is generally a good option in world content, dungeons, and trash clearing.
Tier 3 Talents
: Deeper Stratagem is almost always going to be your go to talent in this row, mostly due in part to how much damage Rupture deals in the Assassination rotation. For veteran Rogues, no longer using
and having up to 6 combo point finishers, as opposed to 5 combo point finishers, will feel incredibly weird at first. Just remember to aim for 4+ combo point Envenoms and 5+ combo point Ruptures in order to avoid potential wasted combo points and you can get used to the slightly different playstyle fairly quickly.
Tier 4 Talents
is useful as both a buffer you can use while learning a fight's mechanics and as a tool you can use to purposely soak certain boss mechanics without dying.
: Elusiveness is still a strong talent in 7.0, albeit, not as strong strong as it was in Warlords or Mists of Pandaria.
no longer stacks with the AOE mitigation portion of
. That being said,
is still a strong talent option if there is an ability, such as a direct damage attack or damage of time effect, that normal
would not be able to mitigate.
Tier 5 Talents
: Good talent to take for soloing, instances, and fights where you'll be swapping to high priority kill targets that will die before your
Prey on the Weak
: Use this when there's a specific mob that's stunnable and that your raid/group has to kill.
Tier 6 Talents
: Go to talent in this row. Superb for ST dps.
: Good talent for AoE, which allows to quickly multi-dot with rupture.
: Useful if you need to burst down a target. Use
as much as you can on cooldown. Ensure that you have a fresh set of bleeds on the target before casting to get the most out of Exsanguinate.
Tier 7 Talents
: Increases your energy generation by a good amount. The other options in this talent row are generally less viable and are to be avoided.
