Nice to know that most pets you want to catch in the wild have in the secondary line up critters. Bring on your Spiders (like and use Brittle Webbing (petability=382) for more damage to them when they cast Stampede or Swarm :D

Do we know yet if this must be 500 wild pet and/or tamer battles in Draenor, or do PvP battles for which one queues while one's toon is in Draenor count?

Defeating wild pets while in Draenor, Draenor trainers, or the daily opponent inside your garrison count towards the achievement, and matches won on different characters also add to your total.

A nice way to build up the achievement is fighting the Rat found in your Garrison's mine.

This is the only pet found in Draenor that doesn't come with any backup, so it's a very fast battle. It can't really be farmed however, for its alone and takes a few minutes to respawn. But just remember this when you're close. And at least you're keeping your mine rodent free.

I am grinding out this particular achievement in Frostfire Ridge. Alliance Players: it is definitely worth the flight - the mobs are very dense in this area.

My grind spot of choice is the wooded area near the neutral flightpath. There are quite a lot of pet spawns there and they seem to come back quickly. Any of the rock formations protruding from the ice plains seem to also have quite a lot of pets to battle as well, so this is a good central area to work.

The 3 main pets you tend to find around here are Beast/Critter/Flyer, pretty evenly spread out between initial pets and followers. For this reason, I am using Electrified Razortooth with the skills Rip, Blood in the Water, and Devour as my mainline fighter. The main benefit is zero pet switching, which makes for faster kills. Rip and Devour make quick work of any critters you come across, while Rip/BitW drop any other pets down into devour range very quickly. Some of the crocolisk pets do this exact same thing, but they are aquatic and the flyers you encounter will hurt them pretty heavily. Since Razortooth is elemental, that is not an issue here.

You can tear apart several teams before your Electrified Razortooth meets its end, but it should be far enough apart that you can use your free battle pet res and continue grinding without incident.

I did this in Shadowmoon Valley with a Nexus Whelpling P/P using Arcane Storm Mana Surge + Tail Sweep against all the flying pets sometimes you can kill the entire enemy team with just 2 moves i would recommend using a pet that can heal also just to have no downtime

So I've found one of the most amazing dailies in my garrison towards this achievement.
takes about 20-30 seconds per fight and it's an amazing way to grind the 500 pets.
I'm talking about the fight vs the 3 Flyer types:
Jahan
Samm
Archimedes
They get blown to tiny bits with this team comp

What You'll Need:
1. Sunreaver Micro-Sentry
Abilities:

Laser
Extra Plating (you won't use it)
Supercharge

2. Dread Hatchling
Abilities:

3. Viscidus Globule
Abilities:

Ooze Touch
Poison Spit (you won't use it)
Expunge

Strategy:
Jahan is up first so start by using Laser until it dies, if you get lucky it'll stay alive for when Samm follows, just spam Laser until the last hit, if you are left with alot of health try to use Supercharge again so you can follow with Laser after the failsafe initiates.
Once he dies bring up Dread Hatchling and spam Shadow Talon it should go down fairly quick, if there's an opening you can try and change the weather by using Call Darkness I usually use it right when Archimedes enters, since he does a none harmful ability it's good because it'll make Archimedes miss his spells sometimes.
Anyways, if faithful little Dread Hatchling hasn't killed everything in it's path, bring up Viscidus Globule for the clean up with his mighty Expunge.

I've found this method to work like a charm with a stable master right there for the pet heals and spamming pet battles like crazy, so make sure to note when you have these guys up. (had them on a Friday.)

Location for the pets:
1. For Sunreaver Micro-Sentry
Drops from the rare elite Haywire Sunreaver Construct on the Isle of Thunder, questing area introduced in 5.2. The mob roams around the west side of the beach, south of Ihgaluk Crag.

2. For Dread Hatchling
Unfortunately this one forces you to buy or upgrade the WoD Collectors Edition, which I highly recommend, since he's one of my most used and best pets to have around. If not you can try to find a Dragonkin type with the Shadow Talon Ability, which should work just fine.

3. For Viscidus Globule
It drops off Viscidus in Temple of Ahn'Qiraj Kinda annoying to kill because of its weird mechanic, but very doable once you get the hang of it. What I did is buy 2 Simple Dagger and enchant them with Elemental Force, this way you can trigger the freeze on the boss when they stack to 3/3. Right when it happens you have 30 seconds to hit it with a melee 30 times. I've managed to down him just fine with some trinkets that spawn more mobs to help as a Monk or Warlock or Warrior. As a mage I didn't need the daggers since you have enough frost spells to trigger the 3/3 freeze or as a Death Knight where you could just army to victory.

Worth noting that the pet menagerie level 2 daily battle counts towards this achievement and even after you've done the daily if you defeat the mobs again you will recieve credit.

For example when the three birds arrive you can defeat them all with just one nexus whelp.(storm+barrage, you know the deal) There's also pet healing two steps away.

Here are a few quick facts to help you maintain your sanity:

While using Lesser Pet Treat, Pet Treat, and Safari Hat:

1. The number of battles required to raise a level 2 pokemon to 25 is eighteen. The halfway point is level 19, which you will get after nine battles. Levels your leveling pokemon will obtain by battle (assumes you fight groups of three and they are all 25):

Raise a level 1 to level 2 by fighting a single battle with a wild pokemon in your capital city. One Stormwind Rat or Spiny Lizard will give you the fifty experience you need to be level 2, take you all of ten seconds, and it will save you a lot of headache later. Do this for each lowbie you plan to level in Draenor.

2. The number of pokemon you will be raising to 25 (from level 2) for each 100 battles is six. The number of pokemon you will be raising to 25, using these buffs, to receive the entire achievement, is thirty. This is a really good way to march toward the goal. Pick out your thirty, and when they're all maxed, the achievement will be yours.

A few things:

1. Frostfire Ridge will get you the most battles the fastest, but you won't catch anything worthwhile. Just miles and miles of ravagers. Also, you will get 23s and 24s as well as 25s, diminishing experience. For just a little extra travel time, you can farm a rare, of the right breed, of every species you desire while you work toward this achievement. And it's not quite as boring. Finding a rare peachick of the perfect breed breaks up the monotony and personally helps me grind longer.

2. If you're using a Feline Familiar with Devour or something with Ravage, be careful when trying to eat ravagers. They will spam Body Slam and spitefully kill themselves so you can't eat them. If they're rare, they will spitefully suicide to prevent you from catching them.

3. Frogs and their bubbles kind of aren't worth it, because they make the battles take so long.

4. Flying stones are the best, and you'll never see a peachick as a secondary, so prioritise any peachick battle before someone else comes and takes it. Bugs like waterflies, twilight flies, amber wasps, wood wasps, royal moths, and bloodsting wasps also yield flying stones, in addition to both kinds of toucans.

5. Last but not least, using pet treats in this manner is technically wasting them. Instead of leveling three per hour by doing a round of Pandaria dailies, you will be leveling closer to two per hour. It's still a good investment since pet treats are cheaper now, and seeing extra progress will save some sanity here.

While waiting for Gorok to spawn at his north spawn, I discovered an Icespine Hatchling with an instant respawn. I made a ton of progress on Draenic Pet Battler while waiting for him. The instant respawning pet is at (62, 16): /way Frostfire Ridge 62, 16 in Frostfire Ridge, right at the base of a mini-mountain along the shore. I haven't tested it on any other servers or if any other factors affect it, so I'm not sure if it works universally. Try it out and let me know in the comments below!

Icespine Hatchlings often spawn with critters and occasionally they have a flyer or two. I personally used Son of Animus with 111 and Xu-Fu, Cub of Xuen with 212. My third slot I kept open for leveling pets. Don't forget your Safari Hat!

I think it's close enough to the Gorok spawn to see him if he appears at his north spawn point - it's about 250 yards away. However, I you won't see Gorok's vignette on your minimap if he spawns, so you'll need a macro or NPCScan (don't forget to add him as a custom mob!) if you're multitasking.

I recommend doing pvp battles. 1 pvp battle count for 5 achivements: Brutal Pet Brawler (which gives you pet), Legendary Pet Brawler, Legendary Pet Battler and Draenor Pet Brawler (but only if you do it outside garrison, cause so far it's bugged and doesn't count any fight in garrison) and this one.

So I spent 2 whole days battling, battling & battling to get the 500 battles achievement to be nerfed to only 150? that's not fair from Blizzard at all!

The best way to do this is to simply wait until the Menagerie daily is a team you can practically faceroll.

The NPC to heal your pets is right next to the battle area, and is free. So you just crush that team over and over again.

I did it againt the Manos, Hanos, Fatos team, since the Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling and a couple other dragons will curbstomp that team quite easily.

Found a nice option for those who don't have bandages and want to grind levels as I still haven't found a stable master near pet spawns.

You will need a Lil XT and Magical Crawdad (or any pet with Wish) and then a third slot for your levelling pet.

Open with XT using Heartbroken and Tympanic Tantrum, switch to levelling pet, win.

After a few rounds, open instead with Magical Crawdad, use Wish, switch to XT, heal to full, continue. Can also throw in a Renewing Mists at the start before casting Wish to keep your levelling pet topped up too,

This gives you enough healing between free Heal Battle Pets to keep rolling through the Icespine Hatchling near the flight point in Frostfire Ridge.

One of the fastest and easiest way to complete this achievement (at least for me :p) was using the managrie in my Garrison

You can just keep battling the pets in the managrie and it will count towards the achievement as long as you have the right pets for the certain pet brawl.

Reasons why this is more efficient
1. You don't have to move
2. The Battle Pet Master in your managrie provides Free Healing For Your Pets!
3. Takes Less Time! :)

The Down Sides To My Strategy
1. You're going to need different pets at level 25 depending on which Pet brawl you get in your Managrie
2.If you don't feel like leveling the pets to be able to defeat the Pet Brawl in your Managrie then the other option is buying the pets

Note:The achievement only requires you to get 150 wins. It's no longer 500! It still says 500 because they didn't update the tool tip yet but you only need 150 wins.

If you do this with wild pet battles, remember that battles across your account count toward it. As such, doing it with someone who isn't max level will get you some XP toward their leveling.

This is the absolute best way I have found of completing this achievement. When you have the Pet Battle Daily in your garrison for Eleanor the Undead Goat. I completed this achievement very quickly after I found a strat that works for her.

After many frustrating strats and failings vs this undead goat I found an incredibly easy way to beat it in a few moves with pretty much 2 pets and any back up.

Zandalari Anklerender: Move list Hunting Party, Black Claw
Any Rabbit 311+ speed: Move list Scratch, Dodge, Claw.

Move 1: Black Claw
Move 2: Hunting Party
Raptor will die Swap to rabbit

Move 1: Stampede
Should be dead but if not just Scratch.

Was surprised how effective this was. One thing I want to mention is you can repeat this even after you turn in the daily. This will count towards Your Achievement Draenic Pet Battle Pet battle Achievement.

You can also rez your pets for free by talking to the lady at your stables. Fastest way I have found of beating this fight and completing that achievement for rank 3 Menagerie.

Well apparently people whined enough or something, and Blizzard babied us yet again and lowered the requirements without saying anything. I was working on this last night, and as soon as I hit 150, I got the achievement and unlocked the blueprint.

How I got this in very short order.

I did this all at my Garrison doing the pet battle daily over and over, no need to run around hunting pets.

Pet Battlers- GO!

For those that are new to pet battles and do not have a ... drum roll please .. "Menagerie of pets" Wait for the three birds (Archimedes, Samm, and Jahan) to be the daily and use 1 Nether Faerie Dragon on them, One moonfire followed by spamming them with Arcane Blast and using Life Exchange at a logical safe moment. Use Emerald Proto-Whelp using Emerald Bite as backup to be safe or another Nether Faerie Dragon . Any second pet that does magic damage would do just fine as it is usually only used for one round if things go poorly. The bird team dies very fast with a high level of reliability.

I timed the average time to walk to Lio the Lioness, Heal, and then start a new battle 1:07. So, how many do you have to go? That's about how many minutes it will take you to get this.

NOTE: S/S Nether Faerie Dragon is by far the best to use, total team destruction.

So there you go, easy to get pet, easy battle, anyone can have it.

Draenic Pet Battler EZ mode:

1. Use Son of Animus.

2. Kill Icespine Hatchling mobs around the rock @ 54.21 in Frostfire Ridge. It's near the neutral flight path so alliance can easily access it too. These mobs spawn as fast as you can kill them, and SoA kills them in 3 moves with 100% HP.

3. Keep Extra Plating up, use Siphon Anima and an attack of your choice (I use Batter).

I've done the achievement in one sitting using only SoA, tossing him a heal every once in a long while to be on the safe side, but it wasn't necessary .

Another Archimedes, Jahan and Samm tip. If you don't care about leveling pets while doing this achievement you can finish the fight while only having used 2 buttons. Use Nexus Whelpling, start of with Arcane Storm (yes, even though it's just been used by Jahan). After that use Mana Surge and the game is won. This will one-shot Jahan and Samm and most likely Archimedes aswell. If not, you still have enough health to blast off another spell, which will kill him.
