Each of the races are different tiers in the new profession archaeology. Fragments are surveyed at dig sites that correspond to their respectable race.

Fossil dig-sites are found only in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. None spawn in Outland or Northrend.
Troll dig-sites are found most commonly in Eastern Kingdoms. Spawns in Northrend are common. Spawns in Kalimdor are rare and none spawn in Outland.
Night Elf dig-sites are found most commonly in Kalimdor. Rarely spawns in Vashj'ir, Eastern Plaguelands, Duskwood in the Eastern Kingdoms. Spawns in Northrend are rare and none spawn in Outland.
Dwarf dig-sites are found most commonly in Eastern Kingdoms. Spawns in Kalimdor are very rare and none spawn in Northrend or Outland.
Orc dig-sites are found only in Outland. None spawn in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, or Northrend.
Draenei dig-sites are found only in Outland. None spawn in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, or Northrend.
Nerubian Obelisk dig-sites are found only in Northrend. None spawn in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, or Outland.
Vrykul dig-sites are found only in Northrend. None spawn in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, or Outland.
Tol'vir dig-sites are found only in Uldum in Kalimdor. None spawn in Eastern Kingdoms, Northrend, or Outland.

I have gotten this achievement, and maxed out to 525, but as I look at the races on my Archeology tab, I notice there are 10, and only 9 count toward the achievement. The one I see greyed out looks like a guy wearing a fishing hat wielding a pickaxe and a shovel... It's to the right of the Vrykul picture. What is this?

That icon... Most of the Archaeology achievements have fragments from different races as their icon, this one is from 'trade_archaeology_tuskarr_artifactfragment'

Is there some trick to getting the dig sites in ULDUM to pop? Ive been sitting at 525 for a while. Hit the 10 rares achievement. Working on 11 & 12 rares. Dug up every other race but Tol'Vir. Spending 2-4 hrs in Kalimdor digging all over in the hopes that I get a dig site in Uldum just ONCE.

Any suggestions? Hints?

I have a feeling it's just my bad luck.

I have 11 of the 12 races Dwarf Draenei, Fossil, Night Elf, Nerubian, Orc, Tol'vir, Troll, Vrykul, Pandaren, Mogu. I don't know what the last one is. Perhaps 5.2 patch will have the last one.

As of patch 5.4.2 Siege of Orgrimmar, there are 12 races that you can gather artifacts from. You only need to find artifacts from the first 9 for completion of this achievement:

- Draenei
- Dwarf
- Fossil
- Nerubian
- Night Elf
- Orc
- Tol'vir
- Troll
- Vyrkul
- Mantid (not required)
- Mogu (not required)
- Pandaren (not required)
