This is currently only possible with rare drop mounts in places like kara, zg, strat, ect..

You need to either do at least two of the following:

Get very lucky with drops. Very very lucky.
Buy loot cards and refer a friend
Have a few discontinued mounts.
Be playing a warlock/paladin/DK engineer/tailor.

If you don't do at least two of the items listed above (or part of 3 of them) then this achievement is not going to be doable.

If you get this achievement (especially within the next couple of months) you seriously need to rethink your life... This is beyond "hardcore" most sane people would count 50 mounts as hardcore, most sane WoW players I would think would classify 75 mounts as hardcore to nerdy (even by their standards) hardcore.

Like Akumas said most people who even have a shot at 100 mounts would already have all those other special mounts like the ZG tiger and raptor etc. and THEN would have to have other sorces as well such as spending money on outside real world objects. If your not already proud to have the extensive amounts of rare mounts or aren't impressed if you see more then 2 a day and still consider the game to have casual leanings then imo you may have an addiction problem with WoW or need to find a different hobby. IF you are one to also buy cards and stuff to the point where you own both the spectral tiger and the rocket then you probably should have put all that money to a good/better use or were extremely lucky and again should be proud of what you already got and not just assume that because you got it that it is also easily "handed" to other people. These are still only a couple of the rare mounts required that would likely be needed for most people to get to 75 or so...

So yea I have heard a lot of the whining about WoW becoming more casual friendly but if you don't agree this is bordering on the ridiculous side of things (at the moment), maybe you should rethink a couple things about your life...

I just calculated how many mounts you can get with two rare drops added in as alliance (just to see how much that would help out), I got 86 =\\

Saw a post about them adding more mounts (yay!) so it'll be a little easier.

While I agree it should not be "easy", it's so ridiculous as it is that "easier" would not hurt at all. 5+ Rare drops? 20k gold mounts? We shouldn't need these to get the achievement, imo.

Also, my little kapcha or whatever it's called ended with QQ, lol. Funny considering I came here to bemoan the difficulty and see if this was going to be a bit more obtainable in the future.

I'm not sure if anyone has their Dragonhawk mount yet but I can assure you that Zoltan(armory) is sure to be one of the first. As of 2-20-09 he has 99/100. This toon is also currently noted to have the most achievement points in the world thanks to the information from wow-achievements.com.

Well I can tell you it's not impossible. I finished this up last week, but you have to be dedicated to get it pre 3.1. I went as far as dropping a profession, making the 2 tailoring and 2 eng ones. I also farmed out Raven Lord and Rivendare's mount. Getting both of the 3 drake sarth mounts and a card game mount finished it off. Even after 3.1 it will take some work and it won't be cheap. The Hodir mammoth, traveler mammoth and Motorcycle suck. IMO the dragonhawk isn't even that cool and the fact that to get it I have to have a 310% and it isn't 310% is really dumb. Does any1 know of a site that would tell who all has this achievement. I have it on Huangzhong-Hellscream and i was wanting to know who all beat me to it. I earned the achievement on 1-31-09. I know of 2 characters who got it before me, Claad-Hellscream, who earned it on 1-21-09, and Warla-Dragonmaw, who earned it on 1-20-09. If anyone knows of anyone who also beat me to the punch, or know of a way to find out for myself(without armorying every character in game).

The worst part was to drop djewel, lvl up tailoring... then drop tailoring in order to lvl up engi...and then (oh, boy) drop engi to get my precious djewel back...

Every expansion pack comes out with new mounts. WotLK came out with plenty of protodrakes, drakes, mammoths, and war bears. Chances are this achievement will be attainable within two expansion packs (that is, without having to blow all your life's savings on trading cards)

Alright, currently I have 75 mounts, and i'm trying to find a macro that specifically mounts me up randomly to any epic flyer I have, but if i'm in an area where I can't use a flyer, it will mount me to any epic ground mount, would anyone happen to know of such a thing, if one even exists?

I got this Achivement 2 days ago and i like to share my strategys, this is how to earn it without haveing a proto drake or buying any trading cards, without spending any gold on expensive Travlers or Hog mounts. It will go alot easier if you have a friend helping you with some of the instances. But remember that i were a Paladin, so that makes me start with 2 mounts already, i also hade the Zehvra mount from Friends in High Places.

First off get exalted with your ''home'' Factions, Thunder Bluff, Undercity etc by doing low lvl quest in each of the start zones and then getting the last few reputation with turning in runecloths.
Daily Things you need to do: Sethekk Halls HC, Maggister Terrace HC, Neterwing dailys, Skettis dailys, Oracles dailys, Sons of Hodir dailys, Wyrmrest accord dailys, Brunnhildar Village daily & Argent Tournament dailys.
Zul'Gurub each 3day as soon reset is up.
Karazhan, it´s just first boss and a dps can tank it with a healer, and i belive most tanks can solo it at lvl 80.

Spare time:

Farm Stratholme in Easter Plaugelands for Deathcharger drops, do a run, go out and reset, make this 4 times, then HS to sell all stuff, run back and keep doing this as long as you have time.

And other thing to do is bring a friend to Temple of Ahn'Qiraj to farm the Red Qiraji Mount, keep killing 3/4 guards run out and then back in.

Do quests, and kill ogres to get exalted with Mag'har in Nagrand.

Make Normal Steamvault runs until you get exalted with Cenarion Expedition to buy the Cenarion War Hippogryph.

Tailoring/Engineering: I choose tailoring first, skilled up to 425, got both mounts, then i removed it and skilled up engineering, this was because i wanted to keep engineering as a proffesion.

Heroic Runs, Don´t forget to put on your Wyrmrest Accord Tabard for faster reputation with them, and your favorite instace is of course Utgarde Pinnacle for Blue proto drake or Timed Stratholme for Bronze Drake, you also farm them for Emblems of Heroism to afford the Wooly Mammuth mount.

Battlegrounds for the pvp marks to buy the pvp mounts.

Gold, Farming. Whatever makes you rich, There are alot of mounts you need to buy, Grand Ice Mammuth is the most expensive mount you will have to buy in this strategy guide

The important things to remember while doing this is that you earn alot of gold also, so don´t get upset each day you don´t get a mount, keep trying and it will eventually drop for you. I know there are alot more mounts but this is the easiest way to get it without haveing to roll on a mount with more then just 1 friend. Would be sad in a raid were Ashes of Al'ar Drops and you roll a 1..

Summary: With ALL mounts except class mounts, as Horde you can get 179 mounts (please correct me if this is wrong). As Alliance, in total, you can get 181 mounts, since they have 2 more unobtainable mounts. Once again, if this is wrong, please correct me. And note that this means ALL mounts, meaning you have to pickup Engineering and Tailoring to get the crafted mounts, buy all old school epic mounts that were available before patch 1.4, have been in the top 0.5% of every arena season, done all raid achievements, gotten all TCG mounts (this will cost you thousands of dollar on Ebay), recruit a friend (or yourself) and last but not at all least, OPEN THE GATES OF AHN'QIRAJ. Likely, noone in the entire world has done all this. So yes, this summary is basically for *!@#s and giggles.

So to make a more logical summary, lets count away the arena mounts and all that ridiculous stuff =P

With only rep mounts, mounts you can buy and the Albino Drake, Red Proto-Drake and Violet Proto-Drake the hardest to get being Red Proto-Drake, you can get 97 mounts. But, if you do Temple of Ahn'Qiraj a couple of times and get the bug mounts there, you can reach 100 without even doing HC achievements for the Red Proto-Drake. With class mounts, the number 100 is alot more easy to reach. So in patch 3.2, the number 100 doesn't seem too hard to reach anymore, thanks to just a couple of mounts Blizzard added. You still have to work hard to reach 100, but you don't have to just be plain lucky with drops etc. to get it. So, there you have it! I will try to improve upon this list as much as I can, so I hope this doesn't get purged right away ;O

Unless I accidentally missed a mount or something this is the full list of mounts in WoW. Remember that this is according to PTR build 10072, so some parts of this list may be subject to change. If you spot any mistakes please mention it in a reply ;) I spent alot of time making this guide, so I hope you have use of it! ^_^ Oh and I tried to make links to all mounts, but since there's a character limit I'm afraid that won't happen. LOL, so many people complaining and being pessimistic about this achievement so early when it's designed to last the expansion. I saw a few people on my realm with it early 3.1 - 2 priests and a rogue but I'm fairly sure they had engineering/tailoring and TCG mounts, possibly discontinued mounts too.

I play a warrior and I'm not going to drop my mining/blacksmithing professions, the only rare or instance/raid mounts I farmed are the White Hawkstrider from heroic Magister's Terrace, Rivendare's Deathcharger from Stratholme, the Red Proto Drake from Wotlk heroic 5-man achievements, the Black Drake from OS10+3 and the Sea Turtle from fishing Northrend schools.

I've lost the roll on the Blue Proto Drake from heroic Utgarde Pinnacle to a druid who's now quit the game, months of hatching Oracle eggs has only left me with a couple common pets, I've never seen the mounts drop in Zul'gurub or Karazhan and the RNG in the daily I do everyday in Stormpeaks still denies me the White Polar Bear but I'll have this achievement early 3.2 after buying every mount except the 16k traveller's mammoth and grinding champion seals at the Argent Tournament. As more come out during this expansion like the Venomhide Ravasaur which will only take around 20 days for Horde to get, this is easily possible.

To clear up some confusion, the red dragonhawk is a 280% speed mount, and not a 310% mount. This is rather sad, since many of us who have accumulated 100 mounts already have a 310% mount in our stable somewhere.

Nonetheless, the very striking red color of this mount makes it as eye-catching as a red Ferrari. None of the screenshots submitted does the vibrancy of the red dragonhawk justice. Yeah, it's slower than a 310% mount, but after having to get to exalted with all major cities, the Mag'har, Netherwing, Sha'tari Skyguard, having to accumulate 450 PVP tokens and close to a thousand Champion's Seals, doing every holiday achievement AND farming for rare mounts... You BET your ass I'm going to ride this thing.

Edit: All mounts now scale to your highest riding skill. This can now fly at 310% if you have:
1. Trained for it
2. Done What a Long, Strange Trip it's Been
3. Obtained a 310% raid achievement mount prior to patch 4.01

this not supposed to be be like any regular mount it is a tribute to someone spending a whole lot of gold time so it isn't like a regular mount it is a status symbol it stands for you playing to much wow so go out and do something and not sit at your comp all day long playing and i know i will never get that mount but i would relay love to have and they should make murlocs a race.no i am just rambling

The two major types of flying mounts in Wrath have been for most patches drakes and proto-drakes (frostwyrms are arguably up there as well, but they've only been available for 1 patch, whereas the others have been available from the start). Of the two, drakes are typically much easier to acquire than proto-drakes.

So, since the 50-mount achievement gives you an albino drake, I always felt that the 100 mount reward should be an albino proto-drake.

I got this achievement yesterday about an hour before my realm went down, so I haven't had much time yet with my Dragonhawk but I sure love it.

I did the following to obtain this mount:

Worked on it casually with little spurts of hardcore grinding for about a year(I created my character about 13 months ago).
Got exalted with Silvermoon City, Undercity, Thunder Bluff, Orgrimmar, Darkspear Trolls, The Sunreavers, The Sons of Hodir, Kirin Tor(for cheaper Mei mounts), The Wyrmrest Accord, The Mag'har, Netherwing, and Cenarion Expedition.
Camped the fabled Time-Lost Proto-Drake in the Storm Peaks for four days, and obtained it.
Got the Wooly Mammoth on Alliance side, transferred to Horde side, and received the Horde version of the Wooly Mammoth through some sort of glitch.
Purchased the Frostwolf Howler and the five PvP mounts for 50,000 honor each.
Leveled Engineering to max and obtained all 3 mounts available from the profession. Also leveled Tailoring to max, made the mounts, and dropped the profession.
Got the black drake from OS103d.
Got the red proto-drake from glory of the hero.
Got 8 mounts from the Argent Tournament.
Got all 4 mounts from Ahn'Qiraj

I did not get any holiday mounts, Traveler's mammoth, violet drake, blue drake(s), twilight drake, no zulian mounts, no raven lord, no 310% speed mounts, no hawkstrider, no retarded horse, no TCG mounts, no amani war bear or currently unobtainable mounts, no blizzcon mounts, no Hodir 8,000g mammoth, and I know I'm missing a few.

My tip? Don't get lazy with this achievement. Go for it all out or give it up. I went on month long spurts where I simply stopped trying to go for this achievement, and I regret it. It seems like it's a long way off but it's really just a huge rep grind. Do all the dailies you can every day, and you'll get it. It's just a matter of time.

I also agree that 100 mounts is just too much. Lower it to 75....just like the companion pets achievement. In a year and a half of playing WoW I have gone from 50 mounts to 80. Really all that's left for me are the 1% drop mounts, mounts that cost thousands of gold each (I have epic flying to buy on other characters, you know.), and mounts from achievements/raids that I cannot do on my server. If I drop another few thousand gold and spend weeks of my life grinding champion's seals, then yes maybe that's another 12 mounts. But even then, I still have another 250 to grind to get all the city tabards, etc...

There's no reason this has to be 100. Pet collectors get it easy in both price and amount, their average purchase is like 10g maximum per pet. Meanwhile I had to just drop 200g per drake fro every colour of netherdrake. It's just silly.

The reward is also very underwhelming, especially for horde when we can get a more vibrant dragonhawk for 150 seals. Now an albino proto-drake, that would be awesome..

I have a few ideas on how to improve this achievement and its reward.
1.Add about 20 mounts to the game or bring back the unarmored epics.
2.Change the reward to Ashes of A'lar,although the dragon hawk looks cool i would much rather ride a flaming pheonix.And the dragon hawk is only a 280% speed mount whereas A'lar is 310%.This would also make A'lar easier to get as my math shows to get a 100% chance of A'lar to drop would require 10,000 runs of the eye because the drop rate is only 0.01%.
3.Another option is switching Albino Drake for Dragon Hawk,and make Albino Drake a 310% speed mount.

I just got this the other day and I really didn't think about the actual achievement until I was around 80 or so mounts. Thats when I stepped my game up on getting what I could.

The rarest mounts I obtained were the Green Proto Drake, Polar Bear, and the Great Brewfest Kodo.

Like most people posting here I was kinda sad about the mount they give you for this. I don't mind the dragonhawk so much as it would be nice to give you 310% seeing as you just obtained 100 mounts and more than likely grinded a lot of those from rep and money.

I still use it every chance I get though.

There are still 2 battle tanks, 7 tournament mounts, Kara, Strat, ZG (until Cata), all of the Ulduar and ICC achi's, the Polar Bear, Grand Ice Mammoth, Grand Black War Mammoth, Traveler's Tundra Mammoth, and the Brewfest and Holloween mounts out there that I don't have...

If I didn't have my X-53 Touring Rocket, 3 Engineering mounts, or Celestial Steed... I'd still have 92 mounts and have plenty of options to obtain the remaining 8.

So as you can see this achievement is pretty easy to get if you're willing to farm the rep and subsequently the Champion Seals without having to farm the more difficult instances like Kara or having to get raid achievements.

Did anyone mention the Time - Lost proto drake(awesome mount)? It's a 100% drop but very difficult to find.

Possible rewards:

A title - the rider (the dark rider - horde) & (the light rider - alliance) ?

interestingly when searched on wowhead http://www.wowhead.com/items=15.5?filter=si=2;cr=161;crs=1;crv=0 it says there are 182 mounts available to hordies with only 180 available to you allies wierd considering in cata 2 mounts were added to the horde ie. goblin racials why is this

I saw in the comments someone said the seahorse doesn't count, didn't read everyones replies but it does in fact count for this achiev as of 4.0.6...I have it and count my mounts and the achiev count matched.

Anyone heard anything about an "follow-up" up on this achievement? For example 125 mounts or something? I would gladly know if there is a upcoming one in any Cata patch, I've heard a lot of conversations that they will add a 125 follow-up but I haven't seen / heard anything about it yet. Anyone that got more useful information?

I just want to say that there is no need to go grinding out mounts for this achievement. I have only a few special mounts including:

White Albina Drake
Kor'kron Annihilator
Violet Proto-Drake
Dark Pheonix
Sea Turtle
Fossilized Raptor
Darkspear Raptor
Blue, Green, Yellow Battle Tanks
White Polar Bear
Black Drake

And even with these few the rest I have gotten from reputation exalted with almost every faction that has a mount attainable with them.

I completed my "Mountain o' Mounts achievement on 4/16/2010 and I have to admit, I was sorely disappointed with the "Red Dragonhawk" reward I received in the mail. I, of course, did what everyone did back in those days when they got some new 1337 flyer... I hovered over the well in Dalaran to show it off and waited to bask in the praise of my fellow gamers! Instead I got whispers like "eww, wtf is THAT?" and "wow, did you actually buy that or is it some crappy TCG mount?"
I admit, I did get a couple "hey cool, that's the 100 reward huh? is it a 310?" whispers to which I had to reply "no" and then grit my teeth as the inevitable "wow... lame" got whispered back to me.

So, I have been waiting, wondering what the new mount achievement would bring. Will it be some super cool new, never before seen mount? Maybe a 3 seater "Jetsons" style UFO with a glass bubble-top so that the toons inside are visible? Will it go "B-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b... (c'mon... you know the sound, who the hell hasn't seen a Jetson's re-run?) as it flies around?
Somehow, I'm doubting it. Oh, I know! Maybe a little kitchy-colored clown car with silly looking flowers painted on it that holds an entire raid party? Imagine 10 or 25 people pouring out of a little clown car that, upon exiting the vehicle, puts a clown costume "debuff" on your toon for 10 minutes? Imagine the jealous looks you would get when your guild shows up in their full-on clown warfare outfits (big red shoes, puffball nose, crazy red hair, greasepaint faces) ready to sack Stormwind or Ironforge!

But again, I doubt it. So, rather than sit here and wonder I will embrace the spirit of Proactivity and tell you what I would like to see as a reward for the next mount achievement. Listen up BLIZZ!

I would like to see the opposing factions' mounts "unlock". This would effectively double the mounts a player could get as they head for 200 mounts and the "OMFG are you INSANE?" achievement.
Now obviously you can't purchase them (opposing faction and all) so, instead, you have to go kill the mount vendor or vendors that have the mount(s) you desire and hope he/she/it drops the mount you are looking for. Make it a 10% drop rate (or lower if you are feeling cranky Blizz) with each vendor killable only once per day. Or, again, if you are feeling snarky, one vendor per day, period. The mount vendors can be an achievement all by themselves, or it can be a long chain quest with other rewards along the way. Call the achievement "Vendor Render" and/or offer a title for the achievement like "Hoss Thief" or "Cattle Rustler". Something cool, as opposed to the crappy Red Dragonhawk I worked so hard for. Actually, the western motiff for the title would be kinda cool and has possibilites. Maybe the 200 mount reward (aside from the sparkly new title) could be a covered wagon or stagecoach... the possibilities are endless Blizz.! Now get to work!

just before the release of patch 4.2 several of my friends an myself heard rumors of a new mount achievement possibly 125 an rewarding a dragonhawk mount i myself was in the lead on 113 mounts with my friends around 105-110 about 4 weeks before the release. in the closing weeks i manged to get up to 132 mounts collecting easy mounts such as unlearning my mining skill lvl'n tailoring gettin 3 mounts , unlearning it to get engineering to learn the 2 from there as well as hard to get raid mounts such as the ironbound then the patch hit an no new achievement or mount. i was very disapointed as they had added achievements such as 100 + 125 pets collected. 30,000 gold from quest rewards , 2,500 daily quests completed an so forward. yet for all the mount collecters we are left in the dark for another patch, comon blizz sort somethink out for your hardcore mount collectors!

also just to make it more fun i thought each race should have its own standard flyin mounts. for example horde as follows:
orcs windriders,
trolls bats,
undead get a mount simular to the dk one.
belf should have always had the dragonhawk, an not the 100 mount achiv as it was.That should of been a proto-drake
tauren
goblin have a rocket bike, so why not a rocket for a flyin mount ?

allies:
human griffion
gnomes get their own rofl copter !
nelfs hippogryphs
dwarf a flyin beer keg with wings
draenei always thought the nether ray was for them.
worgen can turn into a mount, so why not turn into a sort of flight form too, simular to druids :/

So after all of this gold I spent buying all these mounts being a hunter, all I get is a Red Dragonhawk that even the Sunreaver Dragonhawk you get from the Argent Tournament looks better?

I finally got this achievement on August 31 with only 3 rare drop mounts - the Swift White Hawkstrider, The Horseman's Reins, and Red Qiraji Resonating Crystal. I hate rep grinds, so it was quite a feat for me to get through all the Alliance factions (I was a Human at the time, Undead now) pre-Cataclysm (no tabards, just grinding quests and cloth), the Mag'har, Netherwing and Sha'tari Skyguard.

As a reference, the total cost of my mounts came to approximately:
74,759 gold (before faction discounts, of course, and approximating my Vial of the Sands at around 30k since I gathered the mats myself)
14,000 Honor Points
2,175 Justice Points
$50 (Celestial Steed and Winged Guardian), plus however much Recruit-A-Friend costs (Swift Zhevra)

To be fair, I didn't purchase the Celestial Steed and Winged Guardian solely for the mount count either. I bought those a while back because I happen to like them, and they're nice for all my little alts. :3

This is probably the most labor-intensive achievement I've completed to date, and I must say that I couldn't be happier about it. (Except if I could have the Blue Dragonhawk as Horde. Curse you, color coding! *fistshake*)

Paladins, warlocks and maybe DKs, you may want to read this.
I recently contacted a GM about this achievement, I only had 99/100 on the counter, but definitely had 100 in the mounts page.
The GM proceeded to tell me that only one of the class specific mounts (charger/warhorse and felsteed/dreadsteed) actually counted towards the achievement, and also told me this was absolutely intended.
Their reasoning was fair enough, one mount is already an advantage so two would be too far.
Though the Argent Charger from the tournament, while paladin only, is considered to take enough effort to count towards the achievement.

I hope this can help anyone who has the same issue as me.

I have looked at several guides on getting this achievement. Some were useful some were useless and complicated. I found this method to be the most helpful since it tells you what you currently have, what you are currently missing and where you can get it. and with this method you get to actually SEE the mounts.

I am also using this method to gather my pets. 2 birds 1 stone.

Follow these instructions. This is what I did:

Look up your character on battle.net (armory). On the main page of your character
Click Companions & Mounts (it's a link to the left side of the screen under Summary). You will now see 2 tabs (Companions, Mounts).
Click on Mounts
Click Not Collected
Then to the right side of the screen under the Filters... field,
Click Show Advanced Filters.
Select Vendor, Quest, Faction

When I did this I noticed that I had not bought any of the Blood Elf Mounts (7 of them) even though I thought I did.

So with this tool you can easily see what you have and what you are missing and then go about getting your 100 mounts! Also use this tool for getting you pets. BAM!

(that's where a 1% drop rate becomes 50%).

It never becomes anything other than 1%. EVER. It is a COMMON Misconception that killing a mob for an item with a 20% drop rate that it magically becomes a 40% drop rate if you kill him twice. If you ever took a statistics class, you would learn that the rate becomes 40/200, which is STILL 20%. So you could run it once and get it 100% of the time. Doesn't change the drop rate. It just becomes "More Likely" that you will get it, by the Law of Averages, which doesn't guarantee that if you kill it 5 times you >>will<< get it, it just says that you >>should<< have it after 5 times.

Get very lucky with drops. Very very lucky.

Guys I was wondering if it is possible to make a macro for mounting and dismounting, using random mounts of your choice. What I mean, i want a macro which i can use like a mount icon, but every time it puts me on a different one. Imagine you have 101 mounts, have 7 favorite and don`t want to use just 1 of them. I would be really thankful if someone could help me! ;)

I did this achiev after the patch 5.0.4 and the Dragonhawk apeared automatically in my pet list, I didn't have to wait for the mail with the mount.

Is this achievement broken? I had 93 mounts and brought the guild exalted purple one. Now the achievement indicates I have 92. B'ah. Any ideas?

I'm at 95 mounts on all but my lock/dk (the class specific mounts for these two) who have 97 and 96 mounts respectively. My mountain o' mounts achievement counts me as at 98 mounts (my 95 + 3 class specific mounts). I would say they count towards the achievement now, but will update my post once I have 100 mounts and the achievement.

With the new system of account wide mounts, it should be noted that the dragonhawks are also shared with all your toons - even those on the other faction, regardless if those toons would have enough mounts to qualify for the reward. Currently, my alliance toons are over 120 mounts (varying due to class specific mounts), while my horde toons have 77. Yet, all my toons have their faction version of the dragonhawk (blue or red).

Several people have been reporting getting their mount achievements when they don't seem to have enough mounts (e.g. 48, 97, 145 or whatever). I think the reason for this as follows:

I have noticed that if you have the DK/Warlock/Pally only mounts on one character, although you can't see it on other classes it still counts towards mount achievements (check in statistics on the ach tab for mount total). Therefore if you have a warlock, paladin and DK with their 7 exclusive mounts then you will hit the 50 mount ach when you have 43 other mounts etc.

This DOESN'T work for racial mounts you have on the opposing faction but may count the Paladin elekks/kodos if you have both a blood elf paladin and a Tauren paladin..

I have a question:
Since MoP's release there are account-bound mounts and achievements. If you earn the achievement and learn the mount, would you also get the other mount on the opposing faction, or you wouldn't get it?

I can confirm that at least as of patch 5.2, this achievement does not count all of the class specific mounts across your entire account. It only counts class specific mounts towards that individual character's total.

In attempting to earn the achievement, I reached 97 mounts on my hunter and did not earn the achievement, even though I have a paladin and death knight on my account. Both my paladin and death knight showed 99 mounts in their respective mount windows, as it counted their 2 class specific mounts but no other class specific mounts from another character. Upon purchasing a 98th mount on my hunter, logging in on my paladin awarded me the achievement and the dragon hawk, which I am now able to use on any character on my account, though not all characters show 100 mounts.

The lesson here is that if you are going for this achievement, use your character with the most class specific mounts to keep an accurate count of where you stand towards earning the achievement.

I was just wondering if anyone could clear this up for me.

On my alliance toon I'm going to be making the Sky Golem soon.

But, on my horde character I've been working towards the mount achievement's and recently got by the 50 mark. So I was wondering if I make and add the Sky Golem (on the alliance toon) will that still count towards the achievement on my horde character?

Just got the achievement. Here is how I approached it. First use this link to see how to get all of the mounts

- I am maxed on all profs between my 6 toons so I was able to make all of the prof mounts.
- I bought 3 or 4 mounts that were on sale at less than 50% of value on AH. I use Auctioneer add-on
- I got a few mounts from old dungeon/raid achievements which are easy to do on a 90 toon.
- I have a few mounts that dropped from dungeons but I found counting on those drops was a major waste of time. I have done Straholme at least 300 times and have never seen the mount.

- What worked for me was rep grinding. I would go get the appropriate tabard and grind dungeons with my 90 Shammy. I made a lot of money doing this and was able to get most of my mounts from vendors. Some of the vendors sell many mounts once you get exalted. Target those vendors first.

Sadly, I never got my reward for the achievement. I wonder if this has to deal with the new release of WOD.
