Battle pet versions (your own collected or the ones in the wild) of the pets have been reported to not work in some specific cases, so you might want to do the whole achievement with critters only.

Check the comments/replies for a list of those which do not work.

You can follow this route (get the waypoints from Bloodleh's comment) while clicking the macro below to easily just fly over each spot and love the critters without constantly spamming the chat with love messages, the macro only posts /love if you have target on something. Keep an eye on your chat when you're flying over an area where you're supposed to love a critter and make sure that you see it pop up in the chat that you have loved it.

Works mostly with your own collected battle pets. You can just /love the captured ones. There are two exceptions, the Moon Snake in Shadowmoon Valley, as this can only be found as a critter and there is no battle pet version, and as mentioned from Bloodleh, the Frostfur Rat in Frostfire Ridge; make sure to target the critter version and not the battle pet version nearby. These are the only two critters you have to visit:

This macros could probably be done better, but for what i normally use them for, it is fine.

This one i normally use when i'm out and looking for specific mobs.
Disable sound, if the /tar is found, it places a raid marker, setting it in focus, playing a sound, posting a message on screen.

I ran around /loving all of the critters on the list and the achievement wasn't popping for me. Be careful you're /loving a Frostfur Rat and not a Frostwall Rat.

I was never a fan of the battle pet system. I didn't mind collecting the pets on the chance I picked them up but with as much maintenance as they need (especially for us Achievement-W*****) it is not worth the time (which we pay for).
I would say it's more of a punch in you know what to add achievements for past content categories that we have already completed out. It's messed up.

I've found the Frostfur Rat critter (not battle pet) at 64, 79 in Southwind Cliffs.

This was the one that I was missing.

9/11/20 Can confirm that you can /love on any critter on the list that you have collected as a Battle Pet except Frostfur Rat (and Moon Snake which you cannot collect)

Note that the battle pet version of Frostfur Rat will not work if you try to /love - you need to find the non-collectible version found mine at 65,73 Frostfire Ridge (Grom'gar)

After reading the comments about battle pets I tried it out.

I summoned all of them in my garrison and they all worked except for Frost fur ret and the moon snake as it is not an obtainable pet.

The rest work as battle pet either in the wild or summoned.

As of today all pets can be /loved as battle pets. Got the achieve in about five minutes on account of atrociously slow typing.

13/03/23, patch 10.0.5:

This achiev might've been changed in DF patch, after reading the older comments I summoned all the listed pets one by one (not moving from my random spot in Jade Forest), all gave credit.
Moon Snake doesn't have a corresponding battlepet, so a wild critter was /loved instead.
