Thrall the Final Boss

After completing all objectives we have to kill the last and hardest boss in the scenario, Thrall has skills from previously defeated bosses.

Start the fight by killing them both Void Boar to avoid knockbacks and Void Quills (may be interrupted or stunned).

While you are killing the pigs you will have to deal with two skills: Defiled Ground get out of front of Thrall whenever he uses this skill. Surging Darkness note where the eruptions will occur and position yourself to avoid them.

Hopelessness that leaves you silenced for 9 seconds or until you move to the orb of light.

Cries of the Void use any offensive CDS in this part to not lose your sanity and consequently leave the scenario.

This achievement is starting to become doable as the cloak nears rank 15, and a solo clear will be required for anyone looking to earn Mad World.

I completed a solo full clear with 5 masks today at cloak rank 12, item level 458, and only missing one talent from the data archive. (Since I do my visions solo, I have no need for the ally revival talent). I am a Beast Mastery Hunter which means I had a much easier time doing this than most classes will, but I do have some tidbits of advice I thought I would share for those aiming to earn this achievement.

1. If you find yourself in a position similar to myself regarding the data archive, you are no longer in a rush to earn Mementos. This means you'll likely want to skip chests and any packs of enemies that do not NEED to be killed. I took the Camouflage talent so I could sneak by enemies here and there, but the only Objective that really benefits from stealth (aside from the beginning area) is The Valley of Honour, as all that is required to complete that objective is defeat Rexxar. If you are like me and still do not have the Mail Muncher, then I would also advise skipping mail boxes, no matter how tempted you might be to stop and gamble.

2. There are a plethora of buffs found inside these Visions, and you'll want as many as possible to aid in your completion. There are potions and certain rare enemies that give significant buffs but I won't list them here as you can find all the details laid out elsewhere on WoWhead. All I will say is do NOT underestimate these buffs or think you don't need them. Remember to also bring along consumables, if you eat and rune before starting you won't need to re-apply unless you fail the vision, the talent that prevents your first death also prevents buffs from dropping off.

3. Know your class, and know the enemies. There is a lot to worry about in these Visions, and with the clock ticking behind you, it's easy to become overwhelmed. You have to be paying attention in order to avoid silly mistakes. Simply missing an interrupt can cost you your vessel and make you feel pretty bad. I ended up putting myself down frequently after messing up because I knew I was better than that. I found that I felt a lot better when I saved my vessels and set aside a block of time to just run visions back to back to back, this way if I made a mistake I knew I could correct it in the next run immediately rather than wait 3 days until I have a chance to do better. But of course, everyone is different and you may prefer to do the opposite.

4. Like almost everything else in life, patience will help you here too. Currently, your character is getting stronger and stronger every week by upgrading your cloak and earning new gear, if you pulled off a 4 mask run and KNOW you can't do a 5 just yet (Mask of the Long Night is a b*tch), you can always save your vessels until Tuesday to get a head start on the next upgrade, and get that little power spike. Every little bit helps.

5. This won't apply to everyone, and I ask that you save your judgement. If you're one of the many people who like to indulge in video games while under the influence, these visions are not the place for that. Wanna do well? Take it seriously, at least until you're comfortable. I'm not telling you how to live your life, just telling you how to do the best you can do in this challenge.

A week and a half into Shadowlands and I was able to solo this on my hunter. Lvl60, ilvl145 and no food buffs and absolutely zero corruption resistance. I still have my rank 15 cloak and even with covenant abilities, you can still use the Heart of Azeroth (mine is at lvl97); I highly advise using it as it can still one-shot most minor mobs if you're using Reaping Flames.

I don't know how this is for other classes, so take a lot of what I say with a grain of salt.

Most of the run was trivial, even with increased health to enemies, increased damage from enemies and 50% sanity. I had made an 'oops' taking out Vez'okk in Valley of Wisdom and he burned the last 50% of my sanity in one shot (honestly, there literally was no way out of it) and it used up my emergency sanity buff which would have been useful later for Thrall. I only had to use the sanity orb once, but that was only because I was behind after being hit hard from Vez'okk when I went through Valley of Spirits, otherwise even 50% total sanity wasn't an issue as elite bosses granted sanity and I was able to find some sanity potions.

My recommentaion if you're soloing this, even at higher levels, is to skip EVERYTHING. Even with more power, you still don't have a lot of sanity to play with. If you see a chest on your way, cool, but don't go out of your way to find one, same with odd crystals. Skip any potions unless you clearly see the sparkles. Skip all mail boxes, the mount will drop in non-mask runs in either of the visions, so you can always farm it later. Skip as many mobs as you can, only taking out those that get you through to your next destination the fastest.

Learn the mobs and what they do. Shamans will put down totems that will suck you in and do damage, some of the squidfaces will stun you (they wear hoods) and it really saps your sanity. Some bugs will throw acid on you and sometimes take down sanity.

When I finally got to Thrall, I used another of the sanity orbs to start the fight, this might give you just the edge you need if you don't have the emergency sanity buff to fall back on. For some reason, killing the boars makes this fight a lot easier, but I have not discovered why. Save all your DPS cool-downs for Thrall, you're going to need them. Heal your pet constantly, put the heal button on your main rotation bar and spam the hell out of it. I still use a spirit beast and it did have to heal me once, even at lvl60. Your sanity will drop FAST too, so stay out of everything you can and move as much as you can to avoid his stuns, those do the most damage to your sanity.

I finished him off with only 15 sanity left and my heart thumping so hard that I could hear it in my headphones. I'm sure in another year or so, with better gear and more power, these runs will be even easier, but I never got to do them when they were current (because no one wants "another hunter" in their group) and I'm only 12000 away from getting the mount.

From what I've seen, Orgrimmar is the hardest of the two runs, so I'll be eagerly awaiting Stormwind next week to see what happens. Then I can go back to my piddly 3-mask runs until I can get the mount :D

at the end of the first season of shadowlands, the scaling makes this very easy. I was able to breeze through a 5 mask on my ~200 ilvl brew monk with my level 15 cape, and I would expect some DPS classes to have an even easier time. I had forgotten how to do a lot of the visions but I never dropped below 300/500 of the corruption and never used any of the 3 orbs YMMV. I would expect this to be more difficult without the cape, but very feasible with better gear as time goes on.

If you are a BM hunter in SL, you can use the "coward mode" (my copyright).
Just stay outside the building and send your pet(s) defeat Thrall.
