Well, if you have the crown from the reward of the quest from previous years, you'll get the achievement.

My paladin had the crown from 2008 and she got the title atm ^^

The way you do it is you go to Thunderbluff, Ogrimar and Undercity or Ironforge, Stormwind and Darnassus and steal the flames. When you click the bonfire you will get an item thats starts a quest to return it to the Loremaster. Once all three are returned you'll get this. Hope this helps.

I'm unsure if you need Silvermoon or Exodar as I haven't made my way up there yet. Can anyone confirm this?

silvermoon is required for alliance. i would imagine then that exodar is required as well for horde.

Not sure about before but now each city has a lootable flame that starts a quest. Upon completion of all the horde or alliance cities based on your fraction you complete A Thieft's Reward and the achievment.

Horde players: your 4 targets are: Darnassus and The Exodar on the continent of Kalimdor and Ironforge and Stormwind City on the continent of the Eastern Kingdoms

Tips on reaching the 2 in Kalimdor:
from Orgrimmar fly to BloodVenom post in Felwood...carefully natigate down the falls on the western border (yes fall down 5 tiers of cliffs) and once at the bottom ride north along the coast to the Alliance city of Auberdine. Ride into the town and out onto the long pier There are 3 ships you can gain passage on. As you go down this dock your choices are straight, left, or right. The straight path ahead will lead you to the Exodar. The dock heading towards the right takes you to a small village on the coast outside Darnassus. At the northern end of this village is the portal into Darnassus. The Flame of Darnassus is here at this village and not in Darnassus...so if u miss it or are trying to find it inside the city your f'd in the A.

Once you click on the giant bonfire the Flame of whatever city will enter your inventory ...

These flames when clicked upon start a quest...in which u return them to Orgrimmar.

I looted the flame of Exodar and delivered the quest yesterday.
Earlier today I visited Darnassus, Ironforge and Stormwind, looted their respective flames and delivered them.

Yet I did not get the achievement. Anyone else experiencing the same problem ?

EDIT: And yes, I did check on the npc for any sign of a quest as mentioned in several posts, but no quest in sight.

THIS IS ONLY FOR ALLIANCE

***results may very depending on what server you are on cuz there might be more horde to try and kill you or less***

All you have to steal the flame from each of the hordes 4 main citys
just click on the fire and a flame will cover you for 2 sec and then you will get an item in your bag
and after you get all 4 go to Ironforge and right click them at the Ironforge flame and the guy will be right there

-Thunder Bluff is easy when you come from the elevators go to the left around the water and left again to the first ramp that you see that it will be right up the hill across the bridge

-Orgrimmar is hard if you dont know were to go when you fist go in go to the left and up the ramp keep going untill you see another ramp going down right beside you and you should see a tower that goes up take it and when you come out at the top go left and follow the path and you will see it on the right (not down the tunnel)

-Underctiy is super easy just go in and its right on the left (there is not need to go in the city at all and if you go into any tunnel or elevator then you passed it)

-Silvermoon City is easy if you know where you are going when you first come in go straight down the hall and then a left, up a ramp and down another hall and when you get to a water fountain its on the left

(note) if you are still having trouble finding it after reading all this then just go it the city and die someplace that no one can see you when you spawn and just look around the city while you are a ghost)

Just for clarification -

You don't need to be on a quest prior to extinguishing the flames; you get an item for extinguishing each flame that starts its own quest which you then turn in in one of your own factions' cities.

If you don't want to look at coordinates for this achieve, I found out that after you finish the two Twilight Cult quests in Zoram Strand and you are on the quest "Inform the Elder", it shows the quest location for the elders for both Alliance and Horde capitals via the in-game Quest Objective finder.

Just hit M and follow the yellow question mark.

I had the Crown of the Fire Festival in my inventory from pre-WolK. I was able to pick up the quest and hand it right back in to get a second one. Glad I don't have to sneak into those four capitals again.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way to tell which city fires you stole last year. I stole 3 of the 4 last year and I can't remember which one I didn't get to. I checked the achievement tab ingame but it doesn't say anything other then to steal the flames. I don't want to have to go back to each city just to try and figure it out. If anyone can help me out that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Best thing is to not accept the quests from the items in your bags from the faction cities until you are ready to turn em all in at same time.

The quest for this achievement has no level requirement anymore. I am very sure about this, and my level 1 char loves it's Crown of the Fire Festival :)

A couple of the home city fires have been moved in cataclysm. Here is the updated list:

Ride as far as you can, until dismounted, if you are an engineer, the nitro will get you quite a bit further.

Corpse run and find it so that you know exactly where you have to go before rezzing.

any one advise on how a horde player can get to the flame in exodar without getting killed by the guards? been trying for over an hour, corpse hopping doesnt work....

I tried to enter Silvermoon, and it took me tree runs to get to the flame. but i couldnt loot the flame when i finally got there! Neither in combat or not.

anyone ells had that problem?

I found out that the invisibility potion and feign death doesnt work -,-
When you enter the Court of Sun, there will be guards. and beware of the small group of people wandering out from the court of sun, including an Arcane Guardian!

I looted all four fires, stormwind first, handed in, teldrassil and the exodar handed in together, then iron forge - noobed it, went through front door, 5 deaths later!

Point is, the achievement was given after I handed the last quest in, took on the new quest called A Thief's Reward, and handed that in.

For me, it was all within one day, so I think most bugs have been sorted.

I've been having difficulty getting the Ironforge fire on my (now) 71 Troll Druid. The fire is well positioned to be covered by 3 guards (the patrols are easy enough to wait through). This looks like a fire I may have to wait until next year to get.

Alot of people are talking about not having access to 3 of the 4 quests to turn in the flame. You need to right click the flame icons of each city in your bags to access their respective quests. On the Exodar flame it has the exclamation point that suggests that this item starts a quest, but on the others it does not. So right click on the other flames as you would for the Exodar. Cheers!

I just did this last night on my Alliance main. I'm glad I decided very firmly that I only collect achievements on one cartoon, else I'd go nuts.

Regardless of your faction, here is a piece of advice. Always have a cartoon somewhere that is about level 25-30 that is on the opposing faction and on your same server. I say 25-30 because you need to traverse some mildly gnarly places to get flight points and routes to all the major cities. My auction alt had to get to Booty Bay. I did not want to corpse drag a level 1, thank you very much. I also say "same server" so you can put your opposing faction character next to the spot you want to go and log in to see how many other players are there. For example, I positioned my 85 main on a high point in Orgrimmar and periodically logged into my alt next to the flame.When it was busy, I had fun with an alt in BC. Once it was reasonably clear, I dove down, got the flame and left. Nobody died, nobody cried.

The new spot in Orgrimmar is near their portals to Cata just to the west. BTW, with flight can be really high up and not be bothered by aerial pats. I spent a lot of time just looking at the map while I was up there. The rest of them are in pretty much the same places.

Silvermoon requires a rehearsal run as a horde character because you need to run your mount fast and not stop for a wrong turn or a map check. If you get attacked in TB, run off the cliff because that's a shorter corpse run and an engineer with good reflexes can get that parachute out. Undercity is a cake walk. See above for my comments on Orgrimmar. IF is a difficult. You can fly in, so get familiar with the gaps under the ceilings. I suspect some water walking potions might help with Exodar and Darnassus. SW is probably like Orgrimmar. There are lots of players around, including high level players because the cooking quests start right next to that flame.

BTW - I found out that I could park my mounted Alliance cartoon on top of the balloon holding up the zeppelin for a free ride to Orgrimmar from Brill. I suspect Horde can do a similar trick by parking on the edges or tops of sails on Alliance boats.

Org took 3 times but finally did it.. UC and TB no problem... only one I have issues with is SMC anyone know a backway in there please say so... I just want my achievement LOL

I'm having trouble with this. Perhaps I'm missing something. I got all four flames today. I got Exodor first and handed it in by right clicking the flame in my bag and speaking to the Festival Talespinner in Org. I then got Darnassus, Ironforge, and Stormwind. When I tried to hand those in I got a message saying "Stormwind's flame failed: Duplicate item found." Same message with Irtonforge's.....and when I right click on the Darnassus flame, I get the message "You have already completed that quest".

So I went back to Exodar and got that flame again, thinking maybe having all four in my inventory might be the way to do it. Nope. I have all four flames now....two of them (Darnassus, and Exodar), wont let me right click them....saying, "You have already completed that quest, (which is true for Exodor, but not Darnassus). The other two just keep saying, "......failed: Duplicate item found".

Is this bugged?....or am I missing something.

I did this on my 77 priest today and also got the "Stormwind's Flame failed: Duplicate item found" message. When I tried turning it in again I chose a different reward and it completed. I think it is only letting you carry so many of each festival item, the duplicate found seems to be the reward not the flame.

I got this achievement as a Horde Shadow Priest (85). It's a lot easier than it looks (I did not use the Tramway). I won't post the coordinates since they've already been posted.

Quick Tips:

Unequip any gear that has durability (Not necessary for Darnassus). Feel free to keep rings, trinkets, or other gear that can offer even slight perks without durability. If you think you'll have a hard time getting out of a city, you can also bank all your gear so that you can ressurect with one of the Spirit Healers, though I didn't do that.

Fast mounting and flying are very useful, though not required. Dispersion is also very useful, especially when your gear is unequipped. Levitate is necessary for my strategy on SW.

Cities:

Darnassus is very easy, since the fire is almost outside the capital.* You might find a single alliance player there, and NPCs are a pretty fair distance away. You probably won't die on this one.

Ironforge is fairly difficult, since you have to fly through quite a few gryphon guards. Once you fly to the back (Shouldn't take more than one or two tries. Dispersion can be used during mounting, so use that to your advantage.) As soon as the fire is in sight, duck and run to it. If you have time, you can use Shadowfiend + Fade to prevent guards from interrupting you. I'd only do this if you either think you have time or are swift in your hotkey motions. Using PW:S can offer a small bit of relief while you're being shot at with arrows as well. If you haven't used Dispersion, use it right before activating (looting) the fire. This will keep you alive as well as prevent some immobilizing effects that could interrupt you.

You will likely die at this point, after looting the fire. Especially if there are players around. Run to the doors that are up some stairs on your left and right (If you are facing the bonfire), for as long as you are alive. When you return to ressurect, move as far away from your death point as possible, and as close to the doors that are up the stairs as possible. If you ressurect behind those doors, you should be perfectly safe. From there, hearth or use a different means of teleportation to start on the next city.

Exodar's bonfire is deep in the city, and you can NOT fly.** Luckily, however, there are few to no Alliance players here. I made my way through the side entrance above the Vault of Lights (Use a ground mount). Once inside, there will be a patrolling group of Draenei. Look ahead before they see you, and when they are walking upward but not up yet, jump off the side and down into the vault of lights. If you're high leveled enough, the level 40 Alliance trainer in the middle of the Vault will not attack you at great distance. Run past her, and you'll come to the center of the city. This is the part I couldn't get past without finally getting attacked. Make sure you're on your mount, and make a dash for The Crystal Hall. If possible, prevent using Dispersion until you get to the bonfire. In an emergency, use it anyway, though you should be able to outrun many of the guards. Once at the bonfire, use Dispersion (If applicable), and loot the fire.

Stormwind is pretty tough due to the number of Alliance; however, it is completely open to attack from above, unlike The Exodar or Ironforge. I used a special strategy for this one (You will need to be able to fly, and have levitate, and preferably dispersion, as always). You'll likely enter the city from the North. The bonfire, however, is down in the Mage Quarter. Fly up as high as you can, well out of range of guards, and too far up for most Alliance players to see you. If you are spotted, the strategy can still be used. I had an 85 druid on my tail when I was flying in Stormwind.

Fly over to the Mage's Quarter, until you see the bonfire (Look at above posts for coords). If your viewing distance is too low, you can try to get closer, but I'd recommend just using the coordinates to find it instead of visually seeing it. Once you are directly above it, dismount. You'll fall very quickly, too quickly to get attacked for a moment. Use Levitate at the last possible moment (Without dying), gliding into the bonfire. There will probably be anywhere from 5~15 Alliance waiting for you, so act fast. Disperse and loot the bonfire ASAP.

To get out of Stormwind was the hardest for me. After looting the fire, I ran for the canal (Use PW:S). After you get to the canal, you'll probably die from the nearby guards. When you run back, ressurect on the other side of the canal. There is a gap here where no guards are in range. Watch for Alliance players, and ressurect when they leave. There's not really any time to hearth or teleport, so mount up and fly sky-high. Find a safe spot (in the mountain range outside SW probably), and hearth/teleport.

*NOTE: To get to Darnassus, you have to get to Teldrassil. Follow the steps below to get to Teldrassil, then fly straight up and forward till you get to the top of the stump, then go Northwest.

**NOTE: To get to The Exodar, you must take the boat from Teldrassil. To get to Teldrassil, fly to Lor'Danel in Darkshore, then fly to Teldrassil over the sea. You will find a dock on the small island to take you to Azuremyst Isle.

If you're having trouble turning in the quests for this achv, make sure to select a different reward for each quest giving you trouble. When I was doing this, the NPC was telling me that I was already on two of the quests. The yellow question mark was above his head for me to turn in and complete, but he wouldn't let me. Not even a GM knew what to do other than to tell me to start over. However, by accident I was messing with the rewards and found that if I selected a different one than what I had already chosen, it let me complete the other two quests and get the achv! WOOT! Hope this helps anyone else who's blood pressure was going up over this.

Exodar is kinda hard due to the high amount of guards. They hit for 3-4k on plate and it took me one corpse run to get the flame. I used the side door, dodged first 2 guards and the pat, then just ran until i got dismounted. I was in combat so I couldn't loot the quest item. I let them kill me and ran back. The festival NPCs don't attack you, so loot, hearth back home and be happy.

My tauren dk had no problems with Darnassus, I just flew right in without being attacked, stole the flame without aggroing anything, mounted up and flew out. By far the easiest for anyone lvls 75+

For Horde: Ironforge - the fire is in the middle of the Hall of Explorers. If you are able to make it into the hall still on your mount, but have taken some damage, go to the top of the roof of the building in the middle of the hall, as far back as you can against the wall. You will be able to heal/eat/etc. here to get enough health to safely get the flame.

You can also go back to the rooftop to hearth out.

Stormwind: At about 40,75 you'll find a small crack on the wall (Not 100% sure about the location, but it's somewhere close to that. With a flying mount, you can easily get to the flame without taking any damage from anyone. There's only 2 guards on the bridge. You can fly to the right side and stealth there if you're rogue. I went there and turned in to ghost wolf to avoid other players from seeing/attacking me. Couple of guards were able to aggro me but i just took the flame and jumped under the bridge. The guards didn't attack me anymore and i just flew away through the same crack on the wall.

I have just done A Thief's reward.
I took the air balloon from Trisfal Glades, sitting on the top of it inline with the fin. It takes you into Orgrimmar just above the Fire, I swooped down to the fire and clicked no problem. I wasn't attacked by flying Guards or ground Guards. So if you're having trouble getting in I would try this.
I to be honest was only using the flight to get me from Eastern Kingdoms to Kalimdor and forgot to get off before it docked. I couldn't believe my luck ! Give it a try

A tip for Hordies planning to give Stormwind a visit. Once you have the flame, and aggro which is preventing you from mounting, run into the keep that is just next to the camp fire and juts into the canal, inside is a portal that zones you into Stockades. Go through it and not only are you then free to Hearthstone out but you also lose pvp flag.

You can also try Candy Buckets, the only problem I have with it is that you can't see the waypoints if you zoom out on the map.

As a Paladin, I've found a very successful way of going into Silvermoon City & stealing the "Flame of Silvermoon".

The 1st time is simply to get in. The 2nd time is to pick up the "Flame of Silvermoon"....and die but you'll have it!

The moment you are at the entrance, you're being chased by level 90 guards. When you arrive to the Court of the Sun, go up the ramp & look to your left. You'll want to get as close as possible to the bonfire because there are as many as 6 guards that are attacking you. There are 2 on the inside of the Court of the Sun alone (plus anyone else as Horde). Once you die, go back in (as your ghost) & stand by the bonfire, revive yourself and immediately use the Hand of Protection to prevent any interference. By the time you die from the guards aggro, you'll long have the quest!

If you're a hunter and you're being hit by guards, using deterrence right before attempting to steal the flame will actually make you uninterruptable. Good luck guys.

Unlike extinguishing the enemy's flames, stealing the flames at the capitals gives little feedback that you've completed looting the flame.- so make your own by keeping your bag open so you can see the flame as you loot it.

Druids can loot the flame while in flight form, which is great for loot and scoot at the three of the enemy cities where you can fly.
