Hodir

[zone=4273] The Siege of Ulduar The Antechamber of Ulduar Assembly of Iron The Keepers of Ulduar Hodir The Descent into Madness Celestial Planetarium The giant Hodir once presided over the Temple of Winter, lending his guidance to the frost giants in the Storm Peaks. Now the watcher dwells in an ice cave in the Halls of Winter, forced to serve the will of .
Loot The loot from the encounter can be found in the , which spawns after Hodir's defeat. In addition to this, if the raid manages to defeat Hodir in 3 minutes or less, it will prevent him from destroying the which contains his Hard Mode loot. Overview Two tanks are needed for this fight - a normal and a frost resistance one. If one of your tanks is "defense capped" with their frost resistance gear on, then only one is needed - it makes the fight much easier, as there will be no switching. Hodir will start with 4 (25 Player: 8) adds friendly to the raid, deeply frozen - a mage, a a druid, a priest, and a shaman (25 Player: 2 of each). The DPS should free the mages (named below) by DPSing the ice - they will free the rest. In the meantime, the (normal) tank should pick Hodir up. Movement is very important during this fight, as Hodir's freezing aura increases its damage exponentially. Every raid member should move/jump every few seconds to avoid extra raid damage. You should be avoiding the icicles falling from the ceiling as well (they are marked with small blizzard-like circles on the ground). Flash Freeze can be avoided by standing on snowdrifts, which look like piles of snow. They spawn after a considerably larger icicles fall 3-4 seconds after Hodir begins his cast. Wait for the snow to fall from the ceiling (~4 seconds after Hodir begins casting), and then simply walk over the snowdrift left behind. NPCs will usually become frozen and should be freed again, because if Flash Freeze hits a target already frozen, it will kill it immediately. The same applies to players. If you have two tanks: Every time Hodir gains Frozen Blows, the frost resistance tank should taunt and keep him until the end of the debuff. It impediment that the FR tank taunts immediately after Hodir gains this buff (a raid warning will announce it), and that the main tank takes him back immediately after he loses the debuff (or taunt ~1 second before that). Abilities (Spell #62038) - Applies exponentially increasing damage-over-time Frost damage effect every 1 second to stationary targets. 1 second of moving or a jump will reduce the stack by 1. (Spell #62469) - Inflicts 5,550 to 6,450 Frost damage to players within 10 yards. Also roots the targets in place for 10 seconds. The rooting component of the spell is a magic debuff. (Spell #61968) - Encases the entire raid in tombs of ice with 35,000 (25 Player: 44,000) hit points. Kills targets already frozen. Flash Freeze has 9 seconds cast time and its effects can be negated by standing in a (Spell #62463) spawned by (Spell #62460). (Spell #62460) - Inflicts 14,000 Frost damage in a random area through (Spell #65370). Larger Icicles will fall just as Hodir casts Flash Freeze - they leave (Spell #62463), which protects against the Flash Freeze. (Spell #62478) - Reduces Hodir's physical damage by 70%, but grants each of his attacks 31,062 (25 Player: 40,000) additional Frost damage, for 20 seconds. Enemies take 4,000 additional Frost damage every 2 seconds for the duration of the spell. Friendly NPCs - Hodir will engage with 4 (25 Player: 8) NPCs friendly to the raid enclosed in ice tombs. The raid can choose to free any number of them and benefit from their abilities.
