I found none of the comments above helpful in finding the mob. You will find him circling almost directly under Voltarus. The land below him is orange in color and he is above the circular platform on the ground. The area is called Reliquary of Pain. My problem was the Reliquary of Pain extends over to the far south and with my setting you can not see Algar the Chosen from that point.

Baffling. Targeting Algar, trying all Gymer's abilities, Algar takes zero damage. Nil. Not one hit point. I took Gymer all the way down to death twice: same result both times. Targeting also seems to get screwy while on Gymer. Before reaching Algar, hitting my hotkey to target nearest enemy (tab in my case) for one entire ride on Gymer would pick up no targets. Mouse clicking on screen could pick up targets, but since you can barely see anything from atop the giant, that is a horrible way to target (and is slow even when you can see). Same issues with finding (seeing) stormclouds, and targeting them. Really not liking this quest!

you have to be on the giant to even see this opponent. If you aren't using the giant you don't get credit for the kill.

First, mount up on Algar, then head to the indicated place. You will see the target flying slowly, so just walk up to him, mouse click him, and start the SLOW process of beating him down. I stink at these types of quests and I got Algar down first try. Do not stop using every cooled down spell until Algar dies - it will be close between your health being at 4% and Algar finally dying, but it truly is just simple mechanics

Use the shout as soon as it comes off cool-down to scare off attackers - this saves you a LOT of health!

Smash, shout, smash and smash until yellow is empty. Grab and run until yellow is filled up, stop and toss. When Algar comes close start smashing again. So smash and run and smash until Algar is dead.

i am having trouble getting credit for the kill of this guy. Health is not an issue as there are these lightning balls moving around on the ground and if u use grab on one it restores ur hp. meanwhile i just ran loops around the central dais until grab cooled down then did grab on one if the ghouls that continually spawned out of the ground waited for algor to get close then threw said ghoul at him did approx 15k damage to him each time. at end he was off his mount i did smash and another throw saw his hp drop then he disappeared. done this 3 times and still dont have the kill on him. any help would be greatly appreciated

This was the worst quest ever. No credit if kill Algar w/o riding Gymer and Gymer does hardly any damage to Algar. I did this run 5 times - was able to kill the prince np and np with finding Thrym. How in the world are you supposed to kill Algar? I really don't want to spend all my toon time trying to figure it out.

Algar is flying. I had great difficulty finding him because when I got to the location, I was focusing on the ground. Look up when you get there and you'll see him flying around.

You have to actually Mount the giant or you cant complete this quest.

I was doing this on my 120, trying to wrap up Loremaster and I was not doing any damage at all. I ran around that circle probably 10 times and the only thing that would effect him was throwing the things, but then he'd automatically go back to 100% health. I popped out to read the comments on here and the mobs knocked me off while I was out so I had to go get back on him, and he went down right away. So if you're having trouble I'd recommend to get off and get back on him and try again.
