Kalecgos
Sunwell Plateau Kalecgos & Sathrovarr Brutallus Felmyst Alythess & Sacrolash M'uru / Entropius Kil'jaeden Kalecgos, one of the few surviving blue dragons, is the first boss in the Sunwell Plateau. He is being corrupted by Sathrovarr the Corruptor, a servant of Kil'jaeden. He often assumes half-elven form under the name of Kalec. Background Kalecgos was an investigator sent by Malygos to Quel'Thalas to locate what appeared to be residual energies from the Sunwell, believed to have been destroyed by the Scourge some time before. What he found was a strange young human named Anveena Teague, who lived with her parents outside Tarren Mill. While in Tarren Mill, they were confronted by the Scourge led by the elven traitor Dar'Khan Drathir, who sought the power of the Sunwell for himself. Though Anveena was kidnapped by Dar'Khan, Kalec discovered that she was in fact the avatar of the Sunwell, and aided in the final battle that led to Dar'Khan's defeat. Afterwards, the previously-enslaved Korialstrasz - Prime Consort to Alexstrasza, the red Aspect - explained that he had created the illusion that was Anveena, in order to prevent the Scourge from obtaining her power. When Lor'themar pledged himself to keeping Anveena safe, Kalec decided to remain behind as well as her protector. Abilities This encounter is really two encounters that occur in parallel. The raid first engages Kalecgos' dragon form, but before long he will spawn portals allowing players to enter an alternate dimension. There they will find Kalecgos' humanoid form battling Sathrovarr. Players must defeat Sathrovarr before defeating Kalecgos' dragon form. (Spell #45018): Deals a small amount of arcane damage and leaves a stacking debuff that increases arcane damage taken. The debuff may stack up to 50 times and is undispellable. May however be removed by immunity effects such as (Spell #45438), (Spell #1020), and (Spell #31224). (Spell #44799): Deals damage to players in a cone in front of Kalecgos and reduces their attack speed by 75%. Dispellable. Wild Magic: Randomly buffs / debuffs players with one of the following: +100% Healing, +100% Cast Time, -50% Physical Hit, +100% Melee / Spell Critical Damage, +100% Threat, or -50% Mana / Rage / Energy Costs. (Spell #44866): Randomly targeted spell. Teleports the target to the spectral realm, and deals AoE damage to nearby players. Also creates a spectral rift that may be used by any player to enter the spectral realm. Will never hit the main tank or anyone afflicted with spectral exhaustion. (Spell #46021): Debuff placed on players who enter the spectral realm. Lasts 60 seconds, after which the player will be returned to the normal realm. (Spell #44867): Debuff acquired upon returning to the normal realm; prevents the player from using a rift again for another minute. Tips Kalecgos should be defeated very shortly after defeating Sathrovarr as otherwise the arcane debuff will overwhelm the raid. Kalecgos is tauntable, thus allowing tanks to switch when one tank has too many debuffs. The key to this fight is to properly balance the raid across the two dimensions and manage debuffs accordingly. Prior to engaging, assign teleport groups. If one member of a group gets teleported, the rest of the members should follow that person through the rift. This helps minimize confusion during the encounter. Tanks and healers must react quickly on teleports so the groups can alternate smoothly. Upon switching realms, a tank must take over tank duty on Kalecgos or Sathrovarr, and the healers must quickly start healing the current tank so that the previous group of healers can enter the rift. Check hit point percentages of Kalecgos and Sathrovarr periodically, as the two must die around the same time. Loot Unlike Vaelastrasz, Kalecgos can be saved from his corruption, and thus completing this encounter results in him escaping. The loot will then be found on his former captor, Sathrovarr the Corruptor.
