Origin of a Species: Old Gods

The following is a treatise on the origin of the Necrophotic Parasites known as the Old Gods.
After careful study of the Discs of Norgannon, and considering the findings of Brann Bronzebeard stored in the Tribunal of Ages, we arrive at a theory regarding the creation of the Old Gods.
It is evident that the necrophotic parasites, or "Old Gods" located within the deep reaches of Azeroth have been in existence for some time, since the creation of the "Seed races" (namely, the Earthen). To understand where the Old Gods originate, we must first understand the nature of the Creators, the Titans and their creations, the Earthen.
The Titans, to our understanding, move from new world to new world, organizing the life on each planet to their specification. On Azeroth, we know the Titans deviated from their usual pattern. The Discs of Nogannon describe the Earthen as "a
modification
of the standard subterranean being matrix used on other worlds". Here, for reasons unknown the Titans chose to create a race not of the standard 'biomass' but rather of a combination of core samples from Azeroth's crust. Once complete, the Titans left the world.
But we learn from the Tribunal of Ages that again, the Titans deviate from their pattern, and they
return
to Azeroth to find the Old Gods had parasitically fused themselves to the Earthen, and in turn, Azeroth itself. This is termed Matrix Destabilization, or in laymen's terms the Curse of Flesh.
So, we see from these sources that some time between when the Titans first left Azeroth and when they returned to "extirpate symbiotic infection" the Old Gods appeared on Azeroth. It is my theory that the Titans inadvertently created the Old Gods themselves, as an unwanted by-product of modifying the standard creation matrix from a biomass to an elemental mass. The Old Gods became, in a sense, sentient toxic waste. If the Titans removed the flesh portion of their standard creation, but it's essence remained, then we can think of the Old gods as the flesh portion, and the Earthen as the essence.
As any parasite would, the Old Gods immediately set out to attach themselves to another creature that possessed what they themselves lacked, in this case the "essence" that was the Earthen. I also believe (if one were to take Gearmaster Mechazod's words as truth) the the infection of the Clockwork mechagnomes happened as mere coincidence as the Old God's primary target was the earthen.
Alas, we are still unaware of the Old God's motives in our day. Perhaps more will be made clear in Ulduar, and my theories will be put to the test.

I don't see the Old Gods as parasites, as far as I know they are a part of azeroth's history, the recent news of the 'appearence' of another old god (of death) has the potential of making us think that the Old Gods are parasites.
On this case I would like to remind you of C'thun, an Old God, now tell me... was he a parasite?
C'thun sought control over Kalimdor and claim it as it's realm, utterly failed to the bronze dragonflight in the end though.
Yes, he failed, and returned... building his army once again, questionablly... from what? egyption mythology I guess, and sand.
Crap crap crap... forgot to tell the reason why he's not a parasite...
So you see, C'thun never consumed any resource of Kalimdor at any point of time thus making him... not a parasite.
So maybe not every Old God is a parasite, if any.

My thoughts are this.
The Titans were created, along with the Old Gods, as a playground, or testing-area. This omnipotent being/race is monitoring what the Titans and Old Gods have done, created, interacted and so forth.
Easily said, the end-scene to Men in Black.

O.k. so maybe that part I forgot.
But pre-tbc, have you seen somewhere anything about Old Gods being parasites?
This is just a plot-twist, they couldn't descirbe them as anything other than a parasite so they went with it, I guess the incoming encounters with Old Gods might prove that they are actually parasites, but for now C'thun is no parasite.

Your own link (
Old Gods
) states that, I quote:
Information in Wrath of the Lich King(see the Tribunal of Ages)
reveals that the Titans were actually the first to arrive at Azeroth
, where they then put in place the seed races and departed.
The Old Gods appaeared on Azeroth at a later date
and created the Curse of the Flesh to 'facilitate assimilation'. The Titans returned and found that the Old Gods and their Curse could not be removed without destroying Azeroth as well, so instead they bound the Old Gods, and put in place measures, such as the Forge of Wills to re-create the seed races.
Yes, retconning is annoying, but with Blizz "current" lore stands.
As for C'thun... How can you look at that monster and NOT think "ZOMG PARASITE LOLOLOL"? Seriously... Not consuming Azeroth? Take a look at Sillithus... Maybe read up on some of the lore behind the place. We can obviously see that where Silithid make camp, the ground is devoid of life and moisture, instead transforming LARGE areas into some sort of biologic encampment. Popular belief states that the Silithud are the creations of C'thun, actually created in his image (which isn't hard to believe, considering all the "buggy" features C'thun seems to have).
meh.

Sounds very Cthulhu. Or to quote B5:
"That ant meets another ant and asks, what was that?...There are things in the Universe billions of years older than either of our races. They are vast, timeless, and if they are aware of us at all, it is as little more than ants and we have as much chance of communicating with them as an ant has with us. We know. We've tried and we've learned that we can either stay out from underfoot or be stepped on. They are a mystery and I am both terrified and reassured to know that there are still wonders in the Universe, that we have not explained everything."

Here are some links to help you.
Old Gods
Titans
Azeroth's History
List of Gods/Eternals
As you can see the Old Gods were here before the Titans.
well, them being here first doesnt necessarily mean that they are older..
