ARPrep is the answer to all those questions (though combat maces arguably outperforms it in 5v5).

I'll be staying ARPrep, it will still be one of the two best builds for arena play.

What would I want to open up with in PvP? Just wanted to compare it to what I'm doing atm.
It depends on who you're fighting.
Cheap shot works well on druids in caster form, enhancement shamans, ret paladins, non-BM hunters and other rogues, or on targets which might need to be CC'd soon. I'll use garrote on most other targets though.

Remx I have to ask are you actually from Latency in Barthilas? If so who are you!? Asking as a fellow realmie, and to determine whether you're the prick that ganks me during the stupid coloured simon says crap ogri'la daily.

My cousin transferred my real rogue to JT while I was on holiday (I still haven't forgiven him). I can't get him back onto Barthilas until January 2nd, which is why all I've been doing for the past three months is PVP... I still can't believe I wasn't there for our first warglaive drop.
I'll be home soon :)
Sorry to annoy you like this if it does Remx, but what about being seen by other people? I'm pretty much always seen first. I also realize that other rogues are probably part subt and have the heightened senses and would have Master of Deception as well. Is there any way I could stop them from doing so without respeccing?
Your questions aren't annoying, I'm happy to answer them.
What spec are you now? If you're ARPrep then you've got a good chance at seeing them around the time they see you, or before if they're deep combat or mutilate. Your only problem will be human rogues (assuming you play horde) who pop perception at the right time.
Your best bet is to stay close to a partner who is likely to be sapped, and sap the rogue if you see him come close. Playing it safe, retracing your steps and spamming tab/sap is a good way to guarantee the jump on an enemy rogue.

As a deep combat spec in a 5v5 you're going to have to accept the fact that you're not going to get the jump on a subtlety rogue who's waiting for you. Your best bet is to engage your team's assist target and let your healers keep you up while you wait for the rogue to be CC'd.
There's not much you can do about it in a 2v2 or 3v3 without a healer, a subtlety rogue will get the jump unless you let your teammates go it solo for a while.

I'd go ARPrep for all three, but that's just me. It's just that I can see the advantages of going combat maces in a 5v5 (mostly due to fights against 2+ healer teams which are almost guaranteed to be strung out).

Fights between teams with two or three healers last a lot longer (and this is quite common in 5v5). Combat maces sustains itself better than ARPrep does, and as such can be more devastating than ARPrep in longer matches.
