Tanking + DPS weapons

Basically for running Heroics would i be better off with a DPS weapon than i would be with my usual tanking weapon. They are both ilevel 251, the main difference is the speed.
1.7 on the tanking (
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50760
), vs 2.6 on the 1 handed dps one (
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50787
)
Something tells me the slower weapon will be better, + i can get a real dps chant on it like zerking, as opposed to the +26 agi i have on the tanking one (i know - mongoose coming soon)
Thanks for any replies :)

Weapon speed is pretty much irrelevant for tankadins. None of your strikes are based off weapon damage. The threat difference you will see between those two weapons is minimal.

So, you want to stack SoV slower, reduce your attack power and hit rating for... a couple points of crit and ArPen, which is probably better for prot than ret, but that still isn't setting the bar very high.
HotR depends on weapon DPS, not weapon damage, and everything else you do is based on shields or spells, or at the very least not on weapon damage.

Yep, if you're not using SoV in heroics, the slower weapon is superior.

Actually, a slower weapon would lead to bigger SoCleave damage if the OP is specced for it. With a slower weapon, SoC will proc for more damage each time it does which will lead to more threat than SoV/Corruption would seeing as how heroic dungeon mobs barely last 5 seconds nowadays.
Not true. SoC cleave will do more damage but will hit less often, in line with weapon damage.
No matter what, it will still do 33% weapon DPS per target.
You will get marginally extra Judgement damage, that's all.

Well i do run with SoComm, currently anywhere from 3.5K dps, to around 5.5K. Just wondering if i can speed things up a bit more by switching to a DPS wep is all.

The number of times you hit with a seal is 60/weapon speed + 10 ShoR + 10-30-40 HotR + 7 judgements
So Yes, it will hit less often, but still do more damage.

Rimefangs Claw
= 213-396 weapon damage / speed = 1.70
Empowered Deathbringer
= 338-628 weapon damage / speed = 2.70
Seal Of Command
Rimefangs Claw
0.36 *396 = 142.56 * 3 targets = 427.68
Empowered Deathbringer
0.36*628 = 226.08 * 3 targets = 678.24
This is not taking into account weapon speed or the 52 str on the
Rimefangs Claw
.
Without the shadow damage proc....
Would I still get higher dps with
Rimefangs Claw
due to the str or would
Empowered Deathbringer
be better for trash?
Could some math guru help me to determine which weapon would give higher dps in trash with 3 mobs using SoCom based on these weapons?

Which is what I based
http://www.wowhead.com/?forums&topic=101762.2&p=1831087#p1831087
on.
So 1 second speed is worth about 200+ strength in terms of threat, single target.

So melee swings do additional damage of 33% weapon damage once SoV is fully stacked, which of course favor's slow weapons.
Not in practice in Heroics since you won't get 5 stacks up with a slower weapon if the mobs die fast enough.

So Death Knights get away with using a dps weapon as a tank weapon, and now paladins are too?
Not for progression raids where you need survival.
And "now?"
/chuckle
Where were you in tBC when paladins didn't use tanking weapons at all?
I don't like taking damage; which is what tanking's about, really.
Slower weapon = less damage on single target due to parry-haste.
(This is just like the holy paladins using cloth, in case this felt familiar to you guys. Those threads get funny, you should check them out.)
Umm, no.
Holy paladins using cloth is completely viable even in progression raids.

A dps weapon *would* speed things up, and while we are meant to be tanks, there comes a point when taking another 1% less damage is silly when we don't need it in the current content we're in. I would much rather pump out more damage to get out of the Heroic faster, I'm already next to immune to the small mobs due to my absurd block value.
